The photo in Post #16 could be taken from any match - especially in the PL. The attacker leaves a leg 'trailing' and inviting a touch and voila! he goes down. (Shane Long did exactly the same for Saints v Newcastle yesterday).

There is a precedent for the referee to use discretion, if the player is Stevie G. Didn't the ref in our home game v Liverpool say there may have been no contact, but the "Sheffield player" showed intent to trip him?

Ah, but that was ten years ago and all corruption in football has now been cleared up...

I thought McEveley was awful for 60 mins. He sliced 3 or 4 out, played several poor telegraphed passes ad tried some daft balls. He did a few interceptions but him and Long were only weak links for an hour then he saved a goal and started to come out of defence was was very good. 6 at most. ;)

I agree, he was poor earlier on but improved later as you said. Stopped that one on the line and then Baptiste made a great clearance.

Great report Deadbat . This and the Walsall game are the best performances I've seen all season. Far more hard fought and convincing than some of our wins early on in the season like Blackpool and Chessy.

Where was the much heralded 'Pathway' for the kids yesterday? Reed not even on there ( Sammon and Woolford were) and the others just warming the bench.

' Pathway' :(:(

There's an "issue" with the pathway at the moment....

Now that the automatics are not mathematically possible, he might start to experiment a bit more ;)

Loads of praise for a 0-0 draw at home in League 1. Coutts and Hammond both complete 90 minutes, both rate 7.5, more of a 7 than an 8 if there were no half points, praise is heaped on them for performances which should be routine. Coutts putting in that effort shows his past failings have been attitude rather than physical incapability, that's appalling and even so he took his rests during the game.

What a pleasure it was to see players tackling their weight and playing with urgency. A couple of games more like that and players will start to buzz around the pitch and start wanting the ball but I still reckon Gillingham were better in that respect yesterday.

I don't mind Long dropping a couple of crosses if he is brave enough to get out there amongst the pack of players, he'll prevent more goals than he gives away.

Adams showed game awareness and played some high quality passes at the right time for a change, credit the coaches and the lad, it is long overdue though.

Basham's and Sharp's fight in the second half was terrific and Done was well up for the game too, shame he can't play in the areas which suit him and matter more. He even ran across to take a couple of corners when he usually walks! The back 3 played well and Baptiste adds a lot and helps the others play better.

Such a treat to clap the players off the pitch at full time. We have not had many opportunities to do that this season. I am generous with my encouragement of the team when I think they have tried and played well even if we lose. As I stood and clapped them off yesterday it struck me I had not done it for weeks ( I missed the Walsall game).

I set off home in a good mood for a change:), my team had played well and tried. Not a lot to ask!!:(
Agreed woody but where does Fulwood get all his negatives from that was a good performance ok goals were missing but on another day we would have won handsomely.handsomely . Gillingham were stretched for most of the game and deserve credit for some last ditch survival tactics,we didn't get one real break in the entire match, which is rare when a team is so much on top.Gillingham worked there nuts off but the only chances they had were from dead ball situations ( which is there strong point ),we are really starting to boss games at home ,we have now to find the same resolve away from the lane.Really beleave that Adkins is starting to get things going, early days, but the kind of football we are now playing at home is exciting and good to watch.
He now has to build on this for next season ( new players ),right from the off he has stated he wants to play ""fast exciting attacking football this seems to be developing , Even a super optimist like myself has to admit it's all but gone for this season, but if Adkins gets his recruitment right ( and that means a well balanced squad ) next season could be a real exciting one

Fulwood gets his negatives from the previous thirty odd games which have been a shambles and I agree with him, I'm thoroughly cheesed off too.

If Adkins does get the summer and another season he will be a lucky man.

If he fails he will have spent another year's budget, sold some good players, signed a big group of new players on 2/3 year contracts. Having failed he will walk away with a lump sum but we'll be stuck with all his signings for 2 more years and they will want to be away and we will want them to go away, but they will be stuck with their fancy wages that no other club would ever pay.

Would you trust him? I detect Fulwood wouldn't, nor would I. I don't like managers who don't know which system they prefer and who play players out of position all the time, sign poor players on big money and to cap all that suddenly start saying the time scale to get us promoted was "the three year term of my contract". Bullshitter.

A couple of good home performances ( one win one draw) do not make up for the 4 defeats and a draw in the last 5 away games. That's where we have missed out on the play-offs these past few weeks and probably way before that. 5 points from five away games would have served us well though, better than the paltry one we managed.

This is why the jury is still out on Adkins . Does the board back him or sack him . The big issue will McCabe trust him to spend money , rebuild , and the whole process be a failure . Adkins has done nothing to date to say or give confidence he will succeed.

McCabe has a tough decision to make , and it's not clear cut the bloke will be in a job next season . To date he ain't impressed many . I still feel he is winging it even with 5 games to go.

We either trust him or sack him and with the latter we are right back to square one gambling on finding a manager who can cut it
As you say Woody every manager leaves baggage as would Adkins ,can't you see it has to stop sometime and let one get on with it .
I beleave the board are taking that view and giving Adkins time to build a squad ,it looks to me that he is getting somewhere but only time will tell.
He wants to build a team playing attacking football ( we want the same don't we ? ) he needs time to do that. He's not the first manager to have a poor first season and then get it right . If he went who would be in the frame to guarantee promotion ,any ideas ??

Whatever decision McCabe makes , it's certainly one that does define the future of the club. Is it better the devil who know syndrome , and at least Adkins does seem to be a honest sort of bloke with some intelligence .

I think if he is still in a job next season , a lessons learnt is us supporters know our club and football and cannot be fobbed off by any manager.

I would keep him , for no other reason that the potential managers out there are no better , but you could say the majority are a lot worst .
McCabe has to put his cock on the block for the good of the club , as we have done with ST . I am sure the decision on the manager will be the right one.
