Wilder has earned the right to our trust... but I can’t imagine he’d contribute more than sharp or Clark and would emphatically not be any sort of long term solution for us. The targets are starting to look a long way short of what we were aiming for.

I’d Certainly pass on this one. He’s not a top end championship player any longer.

Hope it’s just nonsense

One of dozens of strikers we will have made enquiries for. Hope nowt happens with this one, old, past it and doesn't have a good goal scoring record.

He’s averaged a goal every 3 starts pretty much wherever he’s been, mostly at Championship level.

So I’d say he does have a good goal scoring record.

It’s just whether he can still do it now or not?

Would slow down our forward line and I don't think they need more slowing down

Not many pension contributions to pay if we sign him, he'll be ready for drawing it before the 1yr deal is done.

It says reports from someone close to the club? Wonder if thats someone from us or derby? Might be his agent thinking to get him in shop window before derby sign another striker?!

Love that ominous “the targets are starting ... “ Luckily they aren’t and it is, as you suggest, nonsense.

Wilder usually keeps his cards so close to his chest we don’t have a clue until we have signed someone... but now we have a bit of dosh I think the agents are talking to the newspapers! Hope Wilder pulls the striker we all crave out of the bag. In Wildr we trust.

Why don't we just buy Marriott ourselves??
Got to be cheaper than the ones were looking at and his wages won't be anywhere near as high??
Baffling.

In all probability he'll be a bigger investment than Waghorn, with comparable wages and not proven in this division like Waghorn.

Personally, I'll be happy with either, but it seems Wilder prefers Waghorn. Not least because of his ability with the dead ball.

plan A Gallagher/Hogan/Waghorn/ and surely some we never knew
Hogan wages/Waghorn price / Gallagher waiting game-loans end 31/8
plan B Nugent / and surely a few more

Potential Loans : Palmer/Woodburn/Gallagher and others when prem.squads are set

5 mill bid for Waghorn, can't help thinking we could get better players in GermanyHolland/Belgium, fees for rather average players in the championship .......puuuh

Better players like...............Higdon?

They reportedly wanted 6.5 million. It might be beyond us but if the deal is heavily structured on games, goals, promotion etc. then I guess we can afford it more. Derby were supposedly keen on Marriot and now on Waghorn so maybe that opens the door for us.

At 8 million I'd say Waghorn is overpriced, considering he's only had two decent seasons in England. He's a player i would have loved to sign admittedly but I wouldn't expect us to pay that much. I find it incredably ironic that Derby are supposed to be reigning in the financial spending this summer so presumably only spending 8 million and a couple of loans is reigning it in by their standards. I still don't fancy them to go up with a rookie manager. Forest and Stoke are the two stand out teams for me, along with Boro.

Yepp, that's the spirit, one failed signing(english) and we never go back. Looking at he numbers of foreigners in the championship, we surely are on a different path.

I hope we leave nugent where he is-too old and if his wages are what they say they are derby deservedly will be in the shit

Stoke and Boro for me.

Forest too much of an unknown. Yeah they've spent money...but the majority of it is on unknowns with no experience.

Karanka is a good manager though, hope I'm wrong though, can't stand Forest, although I begrudgingly respect their support as decent!

Not sure he is, Boro and Forest fans don't have too much of a good word for him.

Is Nugent signing today? seems the apocalypse has arrived with all this thunder and monsoons

Dave the nugget nugent the scored for durrby in their friendly!

Not involved at all today. Wonder if this is a sign? Not read any news on an injury. Personally not keen but he probably won't come anyway. No Cameron Jerome either which seems a real waste of a player who can definitely do a job at this level. Out of the two, if we went for one I'd prefer Jerome.

Stock piling young, fit players for when they're under embargo.

Lamps doesn't care, he's only there for 6 months
