Hurst says no bid by derby. Nothing’s changed since the weekend.

They've sold a few as well last couple of seasons to balance the books haven't they?

Ince and Hughes brought in £18m

Yeah but 3 seasons ago they spent 35m net....

They've recouped, but still spent. Over past 3 seasons they're still at about 25/30m net spend.

Hurst says no contact so looks like still in poor position.

Leaves Billy still behind Clarke. Not sure what your point is but we need to find better than Clarke

The point is that some people regard Sharp as untouchable and add a 50% premium because he’s a Blade. I’m interested in Sheffield United advancing, not sentiment.

To borrow your phrase, we need to find better than Sharp.

Not talking about sharp numb nuts, as much as it would suit you I would be. If Clarke is first choice then we need to improve that.

Equally, some people that claim others are obsessed with Sharp seem to bring him into the conversation when he hadn’t been mentioned to that point. Almost as if they’ve got a bit of a grudge against him for having strong long-term links to the club...

Those who think we need to improve on Leon; he was in the team of the season last season! Ok, he's 33 but I don't think he's put on 5 stone and aged 5 years! I think we need to break up the Billy and Leon partnership as both would benefit from some pace alongside them but wouldn't be surprised to see McGoldrick play a lot this season he is a silky player, creative and is a bit of an all rounder. If we can get a Steve Kabba type then I'd be well happy with the strike force we have.

400 grand last summer, Wilder. 400 fucking grand. It is a tough market but you don't help yourself missing deals like that.

Looking like it's back to the loan market. "Wheeers money?" is going to in vogue again.

It did seem that way from the latest interviews. Ben Woodburn is probably one of them, as widely reported. The other who knows. Whatever path Wilder takes we know he'll get the best out of the budget and players with the right attitude will want to play for him as he's infectious and has proved how good a manager he is.

They're struggling with FFP. Spent a lot over the last few seasons and blown it.

And you seriously think the 'powers that be' would go after Frank Dullard?

I can't be arsed to go back over 12 months of posts, but I'm sure you identified a £400k Waghorn as a possible target..?

You "missed" it as well, surely? Don't remeber Waghorn getting a mention on here last summer.

I think I did mention him. But given that he finished the season well at Rangers, I had no idea he was available so cheaply. Presumably Wilder did. And if he rates him enough to have bid £5m plus now, it's a bit bizarre that we didn't take the chance to sign him a year ago. He was the same player he is now.

If we had spent 400k on Waghorn last year, given his record for the couple of seasons previous, people would have absolutely lost their shit.

Stupid people might have lost their shit, yes...

We try and sign someone that Derby want... Waghorn but we end up failing and end up wanting to sign 33 year old David Nugent who Derby don't want. Please tell me this isn't true
