I really don’t understand that.

My point is that failed bids don’t keep fans happy. They do the exact opposite and everyone knows that.

So why would the club embark upon and publicise (with all the attendant waste of time and money) a bid they know will fail and produce anger and derision?

In today's market £5 is becoming what you would expect to pay for a L3 player. I don't like it but £5 m is nowt, what sticks in the throat is we could have had him last season for £250k. We got Brooke's for nowt and sold for £12m-£15m and no one complained. That said I don't think he will make it as big as others we have sold on eg jags, Harry, walker et al. If CW had any doubts about the lad we have made a killing. Ipswich have done the same with waghorn so fair does to them.

I don't see any reason why we can't/won't sign him. And I think the fact our offer hasn't been rejected is tantamount to the sale being agreed. He'll be here today or tomorrow imo. Then we can move onto our main targets.

I'd love us to bring in a diamond from the Swedish second division for 80,000 but those are hard to come by and for as many that success more are likely to not. Waghorn is proven quality and will be an upgrade on Billy. I think it'll prove to be a great signing,m even at 5m.
