£1.5m loan fee and full wages is a pittance?

Or £ 1 million according to this clip from The Spar yesterday.

Did Wednesday get a good deal for him?

Yes. Norwich are understood to have paid a £1m loan fee for the 28-year-old and agreed to pay his wages in full.

There's more recent evidence of the existence of Sasquatch than there is of Rhodes getting 20 goals.

I use this when mine flares up.

Clotrimazole, sold under the brand name Canesten among others, is an antifungal medication. It is used to treat vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, diaper rash, pityriasis versicolor, and types of ringworm including athlete's foot, jock itch and sasquatch.

For about 90% of that, I was wondering what the fuck you were on about :)

Taking a while for the penny to drop today..............................

There’s more recent evidence to suggest that Leon will score 20 goals next season than Rhodes.

There's much more overall evidence to suggest Rhodes will score 20+ goals and Leon won't.

Rhodes has done it 4 times in his career, once in League One and three times in the Championship.

Leon has never done it.

No. It was terrible. Doesn't have any bearing at all on whether our squad needs additions or not though.

Buy poorly and you're fucked. I'm not advocating any signings that aren't the right ones. Just voicing an opinion that I think we'll struggle if we can't get some extra quality in
but it seems to be a blades fan trait that any player any other lub buys is stunning business

wy didnt we get him

and trut me , they arent all that good

But then Wolves spent the equivalent of a third worlds nations average debt and went up easily!!

Agree spending money isn't always the answer, but using examples of people wasting money isn't a reason not to spend it either...
had more to do with a dodgy agent getting top portuguese players with no fee , but obviously very very well paid
the trouble withh FFP is its not too hard to navigte around it , if you are deceptive enough

It's all about the timing

Should be right up HRH's street then.

Its not the most optimistic pre season we've ever had thats for sure. Keeping Wilder is the only really good bit of news we have, but its a massive plus.

My fear is that the longer the owner debacle takes to sort, the more chance of him jumping ship. possibly to Villa if they start badly.

Give me Rhodes’ last few year record. People always see better in what we don’t have.

Yes I bet they are doing cartwheels bought him for £10m 18months ago let him go on loan for 1.5m and I bet they are still paying some of those wages.

If we did a deal like that you would be the first to have a go.
he’s a good player .. the club are the idiots.. result :)

Wilder always plays his cards close to his chest .. we have this panic every year .. the merry go round is late this year because of the WC ;)

Yeah whilst England have focused my mind more elsewhere, now reality is kicking in I'm becoming a little concerned about what the next season will yield on and off the pitch.

I'm having serious post World Cup depression and Its mainly down to having come back to the reality of what is happening at United. The World Cup was like a holiday where I forgot about all the issues at home but now I'm back and am already stressing about how unsatisfactory things are in real life.

Wednesday have pulled off a miracle by getting Rhodes off the wage bill AND getting a loan fee for him.

We on the other hand rolled over and had our bellies tickled by Fucking Bournemouth and gave them our most talented ever academy graduate on the cheap.

We've also found a way to render a very rare 'decent' budget utterly useless. (Because...... wages).

Good times.
Can't be helped if the club is ticklish....

But we might have finished higher if we'd been able to play that bloke Coutts a bit more?
(and Freeman :))
If Coutts gets injured again and is not covered, then this is a relegation season coming. Did the judge factor that into his adjudication of the fuckwits transfer budget?

Don't kid yourself kid, relegations nailed on with Coutts or without .

One or two decent signings in the next fortnight and everyone will be on the uppers again. It's not been a great few weeks and incomings seem to be taking forever but CW said they would be 'slow burners' this time.

Let's trust him eh?

First game of the season given the documented outgoings and injuries currently looks like this:

Henderson
Basham Stearman O’Connell
Freeman Evans Fleck Stevens
Duffy
Sharp Clarke

Subs: Eastwood, Baldock, Lafferty, Leonard, Lundstram, Holmes, Lavery

Out: Moore, Long (transferred) Wright (inj), Coutts (recovering), Norrington-Davies, Slater, Evans (loaned)

Quite a familiar XI. Wouldn’t let us down. Couple of strikers in the squad over Lavery and a fullback would make the difference in league placings. An upgrade in the defence perhaps and maybe some young pressure for Holmes and Duffy.

No scope to cope with injuries though at the current rate of deck clearing.

Basically the same team that ran out of steam for the last 4 months of last season. The front three average age 33, brilliant. Stevens found out at WB and a shaky back three. That team will get us relegated.

Starting to think the same... squad definately needs sone serious investment or it could be a long season

Obviously, I'm not party to ongoing transfer dealings, and a lot can change in a short space of time, but I'm currently concerned about our direction of travel. We seem to be repeating mistakes that we've made on and off for the last 40 yrs, and especially those that recently got us relegated into L1 in the first place. I don' t know whether we take the view that lightning doesn't strike twice or whether we've got collective amnesia as a club, but somebody needs to quickly remember the strategic/operational decisions that we were making between 2009 and 2011, and stop repeating the. I'm not saying that we've suddenly become relegation candidates, but we're tempting fate with what we appear to be doing, and we all know that fate likes to fuck us over given half a chance.

Last scored 20 goals 4 seasons ago, that doesn’t really back up that he’s got 20 goals in him now does it?

Or 3 seasons ago, he scored 17. He may never recapture his earlier goal scoring form, but he played in a Wednesday team where everyone was poor and a Middlesbrough team who played to win 1:0 every week.
