Personally, I'll be very surprised if Duffy, Sharp and Clarke play as many games and score/assist as many goals next year.

But now you've cleared up that even though other teams are strengthening to support their older players while we dont won't make any difference and that players in their early to mid 30s never drop off in terms of performance and fitness I can feel loads better:)

They might all be better next year, who knows? But I'd say the odds are against that.
which other teams , of 24 clubs 16 have yet to sign anybody
like any team , you need your best players available
we were denied that last season

We'll see.

He hasn't been one of the best in the division for a long time.

Of players still currently playing, only David Nugent (33) has scored more Championship goals than Rhodes (28). And not by many.

If Rhodes doesn't at least get into double figures for Norwich this season I'll eat my shoes.

Definitely agree on both those points. We need to improve the first 14 players, not add more 30 minutes every third week squad types

To be fair I (and maybe Tufty) thought Holmes & Leonard fell into that category...

Just goes to show it's not as easy as it first seems to spunk that moneh!!

Is there any chance we could give the tedious doom and gloom shit a rest for a while? Let’s wait while the window closes then we can go ballistic. I couldn’t give a flying fuck if it takes until the last second to get the players Wilder wants as long as he gets the players he’s after and they improve the squad. There’s no need to have the Samaritans on speed dial just yet

We on the other hand rolled over and had our bellies tickled by Fucking Bournemouth and gave them our most talented ever academy graduate on the cheap.

So we got £12 million for Brooks, while in pigland they got 00000000 p. for son of Hirst

I'd say Hull and Forest are they type of team we were hoping to compete with next year for example.

I'd be delighted to be proved wrong on this but I think if we try to get as many minutes out of those 3 next year we'll be looking at ineffectiveness or injury

Wednesday have pulled off a miracle by getting Rhodes off the wage bill AND getting a loan fee for him.

We on the other hand rolled over and had our bellies tickled by Fucking Bournemouth and gave them our most talented ever academy graduate on the cheap.

We've also found a way to render a very rare 'decent' budget utterly useless. (Because...... wages).

Good times.

I'd be surprised if he's off the wage bill in full. It could even be the loan fee is all they are getting.

I would've been the first to have a go the second we signed him.

They've done as well as they could've hoped with the loan. Then if he scores goals for Norwich his value will recover a bit and they'll get more money back.
What do you think Rhodes will be worth a year from now with a year left on his contract?

No. It was terrible. Doesn't have any bearing at all on whether our squad needs additions or not though.

Buy poorly and you're fucked. I'm not advocating any signings that aren't the right ones. Just voicing an opinion that I think we'll struggle if we can't get some extra quality in

so what are you suggesting
CW has lost it , has no idea who to buy
will go into next seson with a threadbare squad

get some pERONIS DARN THE NECK

What do you think Rhodes will be worth a year from now with a year left on his contract?
Carried forward asset value of around £2.7m (£8m transfer fee* amortised over 3 years). Sell him for anything less than that and it's another hit to their P&L; that's also why they were after a £3m loan fee this season but they've had to settle for half that.

NB: they actually paid £10m but the first £2m was a loan fee for February to June 2017. Arf.

If Rhodes doesn't at least get into double figures for Norwich this season I'll eat my shoes.

£ 1million loan fee plus all of his £ 30 K (plus) wages per week = £ 2.5 million for the year, if he doesn't score some goals ? What does that make Sharpy worth.

Not at all. Just that that I hope we sign some quality before 4th August

But then Wolves spent the equivalent of a third worlds nations average debt and went up easily!!

Agree spending money isn't always the answer, but using examples of people wasting money isn't a reason not to spend it either...

I think Lundstram, Leonard, Stevens, Holmes and LEvans are going to be considerably better with last season's experience, though LEvans was really getting into his stride already at the end of last season.

We've got Freeman fit and Carter Vickers isn't around to injure him. Coutts will be back a month or so in.

Kept most of our team together, everyone looks fit as fook.

Wilder and Knill have had a few months to work on our tactical shortcomings.

Our academy players look like they're coming on nicely.

I'm looking forward to the season personally. Losing Brooks was a bollock and the owners arguing isn't great but other than that it's quite positive to me. We also got good money for Brooks considering the glandular fever and his form at the end of the season imo, and a sell on.

I think the whinging about the kit has spilt over.

Chris Wilder bought a striker for the price of a Ford Focus and he got 5 goals in 17 appearances, the same as Wendy's £10million striker.

I've every confidence in Wilder but I don't think he's being given the tools to do the job. I saw no reason at all last season, why this season was going to be better. With an ageing strike force, a midfield that is missing it's most influential player and no guarantee he'll be fit for the start of this season, and other inevitable departures, like the departure of Brooks, and the Boardroom wrangling, I feared we'd be in for a bad summer. It's looking that way to me.

It's not all gloom and doom of course. I still think Wilder will somehow pull some rabbits out of a hat. But, don't expect us to be setting the pace at the top of the table this time around. And when we are chugging along in mid-table or lower, try not to take it out on Wilder. He's shown he's a very capable manager and is deserving of our support.
