can’t help but feel a bit deflated at the minute.
The owners are at war, Brooke’s gone, not looking like the money will be spent on players, Moore on the brink of signing for West Brom and no signings.
I would be very happy to be proved very wrong next week...please make it so United

Don't worry, everything will be fine when we sign our 12th choice targets.

(Because...... wages)
Sheffield clubs battling to see who can have the worst summer. I think we are in front at the moment but a Forestieri sale could nick it for them

Wednesday have pulled off a miracle by getting Rhodes off the wage bill AND getting a loan fee for him.

We on the other hand rolled over and had our bellies tickled by Fucking Bournemouth and gave them our most talented ever academy graduate on the cheap.

We've also found a way to render a very rare 'decent' budget utterly useless. (Because...... wages).

Good times.

We finished 10th last year and the only real business we've done (apart from swapping one good GK for another) is to lose Brooks.

Whilst that will be a major blow to us pushing upwards from 10th, I'm not sure there's any reason to be negative? We'll still be very competitive and with a fair wind could challenge for that final play off spot again....

Now if Tufty buys a RCB and CF in the next fortnight...

CW is one of the best managers we’ve ever had but if he equals or betters last years finishing position It would be a remarkable achievement and elivate him in my opinion to the top of our best managers.

Make no mistake next season is shaping up to be a mighty challenge.

When you put it like that........ :(

We've done a wonderful job of devaluing everything good that's happened over the last 2 years.

I understand how you feel, but......................

It's Sheffield United, unsettled boardrooms were ever thus.

He was always going to go at some point, it's what happens when you are where we, and a lot of other clubs are in the food chain. Just seems that we capitulate easier than a lot do.

Yes, thats a bit shit, but again, it was ever thus.

He's not much Moore (get it?) than a decent back up, hopefully we'll get a few bob towards our small kitty.

I'll add, the home shirt is crap, but I don't mind the away shirt.

Football might not be coming home, but soon, the Blades are.

Enjoy ;)

I didnt think anyone would be brought in while the lads are away...next week will see incomings.

I still genuinely worry that Duffy, Clarke, Sharp, Basham and Stearman could drop off just based on age (and potential for injury). Coutts is a complete unknown. Stevens has no competition and struggled from October onwards.

A bit doom and gloom but I don't see anyone in the top half of the pitch (maybe Holmes if you really squint) looking better and providing more value then they did last year.

Yes I bet they are doing cartwheels bought him for £10m 18months ago let him go on loan for 1.5m and I bet they are still paying some of those wages.

If we did a deal like that you would be the first to have a go.

yes we always conduct a lol of business while on the Algarve

wait till monday , no one speaks portuguese so we couldnt use the fax machine

I would've been the first to have a go the second we signed him.

They've done as well as they could've hoped with the loan. Then if he scores goals for Norwich his value will recover a bit and they'll get more money back.

Norwich have pulled off a miracle by getting one of the best strikers in the division for a pittance.

To be fair, it's about cutting your losses when the time comes.
If we'd managed to get thirty bob and a second hand johnny for Dean Hammond it would have looked like a result after we'd seen/not seen him in action. Rhodes has almost sunk to that level in some eyes.

But we might have finished higher if we'd been able to play that bloke Coutts a bit more?
(and Freeman :))

yes arthiritus and gout could devatate us , some of our players will unlike every player in the land got 4 month older since they last played
while other teams will benifit from not having any players over 25 we will suffer big time
are blades fans aware that our squad average age is the third lowest in the championship

but we are going to suffer from ageing the most,,,, go figure
honestly we could turn any positive into a huge negative at bramall lane
just post it on here

norwich are super excited at getting rhodes, who at 28 is older than more thn half our squad
and shit to boot, but no lets worry unnecessarily

I hear you, and that's why I think losing Brooks will have a major impact on next season. He was the one who could have kicked on and made us much more of an attaching threat and making life easier for those aged legs around him.

We'll see what Tufty does. I'd rather he saved his money for players who will come in to the starting xi and make us better rather than buy more 6/10 squad players.

Personally, I'll be very surprised if Duffy, Sharp and Clarke play as many games and score/assist as many goals next year.

But now you've cleared up that even though other teams are strengthening to support their older players while we dont won't make any difference and that players in their early to mid 30s never drop off in terms of performance and fitness I can feel loads better:)

They might all be better next year, who knows? But I'd say the odds are against that.

I'm a glass half full kind of guy.
I loved last season but I already think we are stronger.
Ok it's hardly any of our own doing but we've currently got Freeman and Coutts back at the expense of Brooks.
Also, I'm calling it now, we've also brought in the best keeper we've had since Paddy!
Not to mention a much better away shirt.

Yes I'm easily pleased but once one or two of these "offers on the table" come off things will seem a lot more rosey.

Definitely agree on both those points. We need to improve the first 14 players, not add more 30 minutes every third week squad types
