Sadly a small minority behave like this every weekend under the influence of drink whether England are in the World Cup or not. Apparently 32 million watched it on tv over here. Not sure what miniscule ratio behaved like that.

Definitely a much much smaller ratio than the young cokeheads amongst our few thousand at best away followings who vandalise concourses, abuse catering staff, and have a go at their own for not behaving like cunts too.

Strangely the latter get far less criticism on here from their own.

If only I was so confident you'd say the same to the British Asians with St George flags out in Fir Vale currently, or those at Norwood who fly Pakistani flags during the cricket world cup.

It is really sad to see fans abandon the team they support.
 
I watched Italy win the World Cup in 2006 in Verona. Numerous people (i’d say 20-30% of fans in the main square near the amphitheatre) were giving fascist salutes during the celebrations. At the same World Cup whilst we were still in Germany we got started on by Stuttgart fans who took issue to my mates Clockwork Orange t-shirt and called us “Judan”. But the majority in both cities were absolutely superb.

I’ve also had shit from the Tartan Army, who apparently always travel in great spirits and are the toast of the town.

My point is there are absolute bellends amongst all countries and all clubs. England fans are an easy target for opposing supporters and the press. England matches at home have huge numbers (well in excess of any other sport) watching in the pubs and a small number of nobheads act up, but there’s a small number in society generally who are nobheads. Full of beer they aren’t going to act different. The nobheads going into IKEA are the same nobheads looting when the riots were on a few years back.

You know what annoys me about that? It’s that half of those drinks will be water just thrown in the air because it’s fashionable. No right minded bloke would willingly throw ale away. When the walkabout was filmed spontaneuosly but then shown in SSN it changed it all. Now it’s just a piss take. I was in Leeds yesterday and it was ‘alright’ (won’t be going again in a rush). There aren’t any dicks trying to show off or make a show. Just celebrate and sup up.

My one, and hopefully only, experience of the "Tartan Army" was in Albufeira a couple of years or so ago, when Scotland were playing Gibraltar.

Utter utter twatism, made our Ikea knuckle draggers and London ambulance smashers look like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

Not entirely accurate. It's true that when Germany invaded Yugoslavia, a section of Croats backed Adolf. The (now derided) Serbs were very much allies of Britain, France and Russia (USSR). But some Croats felt they were second class citizens in a land dominated at the time by Serbs, and may have felt that "my enemies enemy is my friend"! I had similar feelings when Thatcher took on Argentina over a cold miserable island resulting in a lot of dead young lads from both sides (yes, I know "they started it" but look at any map and the logic of Britain running the cold miserable island disappears). It doesn't make all Croats Nazi collaborators, like it doesn't make English people flying the St George cross members of the EDL, or French people flying the tricouleur members of the FN. All nations do shit stuff, not because they are of a certain nation, but because they have unpleasant tossers (from Hitler to Galtieri, from Petain to Trump, from Stalin to yes, Thatcher - elected but still unpleasant) in charge. Most nations, including England (and Wales, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland) also do some good stuff too! Britain invented football and the NHS so we're not doing too badly! UTB!

To most of us England and Blades fans it was a decision made early and the truth to us is you do not end your support with your club through the bad times and it is the same with the nation you choose to support.
So if you were a fan of England and decided to abandon that support because you felt crap about England then that is the point me and many others are making.
To many of us, you may as well have abandoned United though the bad times.

Any ' ethnic ' links between the Germans and Croats are at the very best tenuous.

Can't remember which poster it is but one of ours used to be an ex chesterfield season ticket holder. He turned his back on them due to many of their fans being dickheads. Done a quick search and can't find the thread or member.
