Well done England ...

Proper professional performance today. Maguire was immense, just a shame we didn’t sell him straight to Leicester as a cut of what he goes for next would put the summer transfer income up to about £18m.

My lad now wants to go to Moscow this week, I’ve found flights and the wife says I should take him (didn’t expect this permission). Chances of a match ticket will go up if the Croats can knock Russia out. Ball_Sup (Phil) will be over the moon at his WC final ticket as it stands.
Big Three Lion Alert - yes, I made the right decision to box off an England Only Final Ticket. Shout out to all The Blades who have been/are out there already keeping the beer chilled for us Glory Hunters. I've been at every England World Cup and EURO finals group & knockout game from Germany 88 onwards (save four games in Italia 90, when the Police intervened). Russia being the first I've missed since then. This has been a great Tournament. But, it was a step too far for my weary old bones.
I'll be in the hotel in Portugal on Wednesday night ahead of SUFC v Maritimo. The right result in the SF - and it'll be Lisbon to Moscow on Friday...
(ps - although I have, in fact, been to a World Cup Final before)

He'll never play at any level above League One ya know. Far too slow and turns like the Titanic.

P.S. Any Englishman who watched that game of football today and didn't enjoy it is just a cunt.

I’ve got a mate who’s a Liverpool fan (which may explain his stupid viewpoint) who not only doesn’t rate Maguire, he genuinely sees him as the weak link in this England team and would play Gary Cahill in front on him.
I’ve offered him a pair of glasses but he says he can see fine without - I disagree.

Is he scouse or plastic ?

Great performance and result.

Stuff all the political nonsense, at the end of the day it's just football. It's Gareth Southgate leading a young, talented group of players, who seem to share a genuine love for the game, through the tournament. You can choose to buy into that or not, it's up to you. I think it's superb.

Here it is.

Just read the BBC Sports website that Raheem Sterling believes England will play better if the England fans gave them some Love in Russia for the World Cup.
Remember when Wayne Rooney had a spat at the Loyal England Fans in South Africa after the National squad played so well and drew against mighty Algeria. Sterling needs to realise that if he played for anybody else except Man City he would be a nowt player, He only looks good with the vast talent /skill Man City has to offer in all areas of the pitch.
It's the same player that bragged about his WEALTH also after South Africa in all the newspapers and on the BBC / ITV. Gold plated toilet or something on those lines. What a Twat.
In my mind he's a useless bag of shite and as stated if he played for say WBA, West Ham or Southampton near the bottom of the Premiership he wouldn't get a look-in in the England Squad. Not good enough to polish Duffy's boots on a bad day.

Not read all the threads on here but I'll pick up on one or two things...

First of all, England have made me "interested" in them, for the first time in decades tbh. I normally don't give a damn about England football - I got so bored with it. For years it's been about the old Brigade, Rooney, Lampard, Gerard in recent years, but you can go back 40 years actually and see the same thing. Overpaid, over-rated players, being regularly picked for their country, even though they don't deliver for their country. Like some kind of "old boys club" that becomes self-perpetuating, regardless of the fact they never win owt. I resent the fact that the club season is interrupted to make way for pointless friendly games for the national team as well. So, coming from that point of view, it's no small achievement that I'm not just only "interested" again, but feeling very proud of them too!

All credit to Gareth Southgate - who I wouldn't have trusted to organise a piss up in a brewery, never mind manage the national team. He's done nothing as a club manager and always seemed a bit too polite and nice to make it as a football manager to me. But, he's had the courage to pick a new England team - to get rid of all the old cronies, and to go for players who are young, up and coming, and in form. And what a change it's made!

He's also conducted himself in an exemplary fashion. The notion of a "well-mannered English gentleman" could come back into fashion after this! Wouldn't that be nice after decades of it being fashionable to be English riff-raff instead?

The football England have played has been very good, in parts, and effective overall. I wouldn't want to watch the Blades play that way - I prefer a bit more "up and at 'em" style. I don't like the slow, stroking it about, style too much. But England have adjusted the tempo of the game to suit the challenge they are facing and they deserve huge credit for getting to where they are.

I can only see France standing between us and winning the World Cup for the first time since 1966. And with a bit of luck - we'll be too good for les grenouilles too!

Deluded. The Golden Shower have had an express ticket to the semi-final and played nobody of any quality at all. That stops now. They’re coming home alright...

I rather like this flag. I wonder if you can get one for the car?

Keep it up every time you flash a flag up we beat them, you’re a closet reverse psychology England fan really aren’t you?!
:p

Wrong section Pal.....

Twats thread, in General Chat ?

One of the most impressive things about this England team, for me, has been their straight-talking humility. Measured against some of the deluded, self-aggrandising shite we've had to endure in recent tournaments, the TV interviews with Harry 1, Harry 2, Sterling and Delph after last night's game were so measured and humble.

Again, it's partly a credit to Southgate? Some dog owners come to resemble their dogs. Some footballers take on the characteristics of their management.

Saw a Hope Valley Blades flag to the right of the goal when Sterling missed that chance.

I saw that and mentioned it with the group of Bolton fans in my local. One of them said that whenever and wherever England play, there’s ALWAYS a Blades flag. It was said in a respectful and even slightly impressed way.

I don’t really get this argument that he wouldn’t be playing for England if he didn’t play for Man City. If he was shit, he wouldn’t have been signed by Man City. If he played shit for Man City they’d bin him off. He’s obviously not shit, he’s a top level league player and has been since he played under Rodgers at Liverpool. He hasn’t recreated it at international level yet, granted. He may never do and get replaced by a younger kid who can recereate his league form at international level but he’s not a shit player.
