it was John Motson who did that commentary isn’t it? Broadcaster and Blades fan John Rawling on twitter is crediting it to Barry Davies who is retiring this year.

Another Blade had challenged him but Rawling is not having it...

I think Rawling is wrong...

Literally anyone that cares even remotely about that snippet of commentary knows that it was John Motson.

Motson and Davies, although both great commentators in their own right don’t sound anything like one another. Don’t even know how someone could mistake the two of them.

The nasal undertones of John Motson compared with the throatal guttural / through the mouth interceptive speech of Barry Davies are moons apart.

Bit like me and our lass after me watching the 3rd World Cup game today on our romantic break away...

Which one of you was throatal and guttural and through the mouth though?

Snowballing maybe?

Obviously Motty but what might be confusing him is that , in a preview to MOD earlier in the evening , Barry Davies said words to the effect of - " If you've got plans to go out tonight , cancel them and watch Match of the Day and I'll tell you why in just two words - Tony Currie "

I went to school with John. I’ll have a word with him. He’s a good commentator in my view.

You ever heard him on Fighting Talk? He's brilliant, the best they have along with that Canadian fellow, Greg Brady.

The best moment on that was Defend the Indefensible where he had to side with West Ham after our relegation. He had a go at it, but caved in halfway through. :)
