Usually on a saturday game it's the Rutland for me.
Midweek games varies between "The Bath" back of Glossop Road or the Devonshire Cat, from 5pm till 6:30 ish then a quick curry at the Chapla before a nice snooze at BDTBL

If I'm getting into Sheffield on the saturday train usually pop into the Eed Lion in charles street and then maybe on to The Bridge on chesterfield road depending who I'm meeting and whether I've already got my ticket in hand. Been to the Golden Lion for the first time last season - sure I'll be back again this.

Rutland for me too, bit of an undiscovered gem.

I don't very often drink before a match these days, as I tend to go to games alone. My old man doesn't get to many any more, but on the odd occassion that he does, we tend to go to the Golden Lion for a couple.

Ooh Shapla, :p:p:p:p

Can I personally recommend the Chicken Tikka Multani? But ask for it Madras Hot.

If i come into town on the train then its the Rutland Arms, if i come in on the bus then its the moorfoot tavern or the sportsman, but sadly this is a rare occasion now (only when i've been a good boy and the missus lifts her thumb from the top of my head) i tend to drive in now :(

I think we're talking about the same place. will keep my eyes peeled for ya the next time i'm there

I know where you're thinking of, my mate goes in there before he meets us. I go in the Railway Hotel behind the away end so it's a different place

In years gone by, it was a few pints of Wards in the Matilda (when the landlady Val was usually pissed), then came a time in the wilderness when there was never time for a beer before matches.

Then it became the Cricketers for a few friendly jugs of Pimm's - let's face it, there was hardly ever any beer in there - before moving along to the Sheaf, and now we've settled outside the Lion ..... albeit late ;)

And I'm with him - cos if I stick around long enough he may, just possibly, buy a round!! :D

I used to drink in the Royal pre match until it closed a few years ago. Nowadays I drink anywhere that is not too packed. Red or White Lions at Heeley or the Bridge (which had banned snakebite last time I went in!).

It's usually Sheldon for me, used to be the Albion but was shut last time I went, althought this season I'm deffo going to make one to the Golden Lion cos I can see me going to a few games on my own :(

Mmmmmmm.......Wards!

Nectar of the gods!

R.I.P.

Wouldn't have washed me feet in the muck - mostly cos round our way it tasted like someone already had! :D - Couldn't tell the smell of the Wards from the blocked drains - awful stuff

When I was a kid Mansfield's was the one (38p a pint at the Barlow Young Farmers Club Rock Night - followed by a scrap on the rec with the kids from Newbold - ahh, they were the days!!) - but then I got old and Stones tasted better. :)

Sportsman got SKY!! Thats great news!!! Sky sports news is ok but will be much before the Blades game in their with some live footy on:)

Yep. Had it about 2wks. Got a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE TV in corner near pool table, and the usual tv above bandit (near where you sit lol)

Sportsman for me ...someone has to keep Born On Shoreham Street under control

A mate of mine always said if it smelled of "wet dogs" it was a good pint!

An acquired taste.........but one I had!

:)

Barry's is my preference. best bbq in the world in the summer, chicken with hot sauce. All too often though the more middle class members of our group overrule me and we end up in champs. Has the sheldon shut for good now? What about the albion? had some memorable nights in there - especially after leeds in 06, that seems to shut down every other week at the moment

You are talking about the same place... I too drink in the Farm Road Club before the match. Cheap beer and sky sports :D

queens road for me too been going there for years now used be a good group of us its wittled down now to the pure blades!

Not been in Queens Road or Farm Road for ages. Sheepdip and I knew an old member in Farm Road, but he's passed to the brewery trip in the sky now, and I would only get down to Queens Road for after-match cold drinks now.

Thing is, it doesn't open until 7pm though, does it (and yes, I've got a CIU card!)?

I can get in Farm Road but purely through i work for.

The big problem is there are a load of boozers on the town side of Bramall Lane closed down over the last few years that could be classed in their right as decent Blades boozers like the Pump and the Yorkshire Grey

Bleeding scandal about the Yorkshire Grey. Another reason to withhold your Council Tax :D
