I was reading yesterday that if Villa had been promoted John Terry would have insisted on not playing against his former club Chelsea.
No matter how good the player was, I wouldn't be impressed if a United player insisted on this. Once you leave a club your focus should solely be with your new team. It would indicate to me that their heart wasn't really in it.
And if Billy ever leaves us, I would expect him to relish a chance to return to Bramall Lane with his new club and celebrate if he scored!

I heard he was insisting on having the fixture changed to John Terry’s old club v John Terry’s current club in the record books and having the whole of the crowd clap him in 90 mins (plus injury time) applause as appreciation for how good a bloke he is. There would also be virgins laying petals on the pitch as he ran around, he would take the kick off for both teams and would score the winner for both teams in the same game.

Honestly? If you were playing against the Blades, you'd celebrate scoring? Fuck that, I'd make sure I fluffed every chance I got, and maybe gave away a couple of penalties too.

Maybe! But I've always liked it that Sharp has celebrated all his goals including his former clubs. That's how it should be (but yes I'd make sure I gave away a penalty if I was playing against us!)

Terry has shown himself over the years to be the ultimate TWAT. His level of self interest never ceases to amaze me.

Put that right for you George
I have really started to dislike Villa because they employ the likes of Terry and Grealish.

It was a delight to watch big JT's downcast face at the final whistle. I was dreading a Villa win that would mean we were subjected to him strutting around Wembley with his shirt off. He can shove his clause up his arse now and look forward to playing Rovrum!

I feel sure if a Blades player made the same demand, Wilder would kick their arse all the way up Shoreham Street.

I don't have a problem with players not doing OTT celebrations against former clubs as a mark of respect, but refusing to play takes the biscuit and surely would be breach of contract.

Good job Leon Clarke doesn't demand such

As with all goal celebrations, as long as you don't act like too much of a twat or do anything illegal you should enjoy the moment ffs. Not celebrating is attention seeking at it's worst

Funny moral compass that lad... Wouldn't play against his former club but shagged his mates wife :tumbleweed:

or Warnock...

Looks like there's only me and Dennis Law left who have any sense of respect.

Yes, we all applauded David Unsworths candour on 13th May 2007 didn't we?

Terry has shown himself over the years to be the ultimate egotist. His level of self interest never ceases to amaze me.

if villa lost would he have quickly changed into a Chelsea shirt and run round the ground milking the Chelsea fans adulation?
don't like this not celebrating malarkey, a striker is paid very handsomely to do 1 thing, score goals - as long as he does it in front of the fans who contribute towards his wages then go for it.
