Wilder's philosophy is as follows:

Buy players who want to play for the club and aren't just picking up a wage week in week out.

If he joins Sunderland, is that the complete opposite of his philosophy?

What message is it going to send out to any potential players he wants to sign? He'll know they're a club who will pay high wages and they'll know he went to Sunderland for bigger money. He'd have to find a new philosophy

If he goes to Sunderland it'll be because our board have hamstrung his work here. It's about professionalism and ambition. They're a club who could conceivably rise two divisions in two seasons with a bit of investment.

And I don't see the philosophy being a problem. This summer he would have expected to be signing players for 7 figure sums for Sheffield United. Reasonably so given the owners' previous statements.

i'm not sure exactly why he would expect to be signing million plus players this summer?........unless that was something he was previously promised. That's a huge jump from where we've been shopping recently and i don't recall any previous owner statements saying we'd be spending multi-millions this summer.
Sunderland with money? and new owners could just as conceivably find themselves in non league in two seasons.

Why can our fans see other clubs manage 2 promotions but can't see us doing it yet one that's had successive relegations .of course they can
 
Ask chris coleman about the great backing he got as manager . Who can prove it'll get better there instantly but can accept it will go tits up here instantly

Great dream though.

Did they not think/promise the same over at S6. and put in the 'investment' (think gamble aware).

Maybe, maybe not it's not something that will ever be proven each way. The fact will be that we've finished mid table so we've not "nearly" got promoted have we? I wouldn't even say the pigs were nearly promoted last season and they got to a play off semi.

Not with the strikers missing as many chances as they have. The finishing has been woeful for ages. If the injury to Coutts did not happen then maybe the form may have had a continuity possibly, but Clarke just couldn't seem to recapture his early form later on in the season. Even Billy started to miss chances he would normally bury.

hardly mid table win today we can be 1 win off the play offs , poor finish but stunning season as a first season back

need a bit of luck with finishing

as witnessed with Evertons late equaliser v saints
need the slight deflecctions taking them in rather than like we did against bristol city at home and hit te woodwork 4 or 5 times

I can indeed see us challenging again. But not without respectable investment now.

We bounced off a ceiling this season and need strengthening just to hold station.

Given the ownership’s previous statements about ramping up investment when we reach the Championship, and having Premiership ambitions, it’s not unreasonable to expect to be spending over £1m on a player by now. We’ve yet to do so, and the reality is that sort of money is chicken feed by modern standards.

We’ve spent 700k on a couple of players so it’s not a huge leap at all. If a player like Blackman is available at £1.5m, and we’re unable to pay it, then I don’t think our stated Premiership ambition is very realistic. It doesn’t need Jordan Rhodes money, but an incremental increase on what went before.

Whilst I’m not going to be protesting against owners because they’re not rich enough, if I were the club’s manager I’d be bitterly disappointed that they’ve not only failed to follow through on their words, but actually appear to be doing the opposite. To not have a budget in place for next season, however generous, is a poor state of affairs.

As for Sunderland, it would be a tough job, but they’re a bigger outfit than us, and given the right circumstances they could take off. Not to mention Wilder could secure his financial future with a bumper contract. In his shoes I’d consider an offer like that.

Going to Sunderland from United isn’t such a step in terms of club size. Wilder can achieve all he realistically wants in the game at United just as much as at Sunderland. Given the right circumstances United could take off and become a huge club,certainly one more than capable of holding its own the the Premiership..

I agree, but those circumstances look a long way off. And if Sunderland make him considerably wealthier, that will play a big part too.

When we will get this other win we need for the play offs? Do next seasons results count?

We haven't "nearly" been promoted this season at all. We've exceeded my pre-season expectations but a season that ends in poor form, management misery and squabbling owners won't be a huge success in my eyes.

For me iWilders decision to leave is directly about money or ambition.it’s because he’s been trapped into this situation by McCabe and is being used by McCabe ambition to maximise the amount he gets for the club. They are both clueless McCabe for using Wilder as a tool , effectively damaging his own assets and Wilder for falling for it. Now it appears that Wilder has no choice but to leave after siding with McCabe in the power struggle as there appears no early end to the situation.
We are totally fooked.

It’s supposition on my part, but if I was in Wilder’s shoes I’d be saying this sort of deal is what we need to do to push on.

If we can’t afford it, fair enough. But he needs to know a budget, however small.
 
I still fail to see how Sunderland at this moment in time could offer any one assurances of income or transfer kitties

listen Chris we will double your wages and give you 30m to spend on players
the fact we are 150m in debt have players on wages we cant afford and dont have any owners owners with money just now are just trivial points
