Apparently his loan has already finished . Was seen at rother valley today.
 



so no Blackman next season. Makes sense to cut a loan short financially but pisses a player off. No chance he'll be here next year.
 
I would have thought if his loan had finished he would have already gone back. He has been there a few times with his dogs. The person asked if he would be here next season and said he would love to

You're a footballer at a big club. You're on loan to a smaller club. You think you're doing well.That club cuts your loan short to save money *which I don't even think is possible now). Next season the same club offers you a loan and you unsurprisingly decide to go somewhere else.

Firstly. Have we done it for financial reasons? (If we’ve actually done it at all)

Secondly, you’ve said it makes sense. I’m sure Blackman could also see that it makes sense. I’m sure missing one game won’t piss him off that much.

In your haste to be negative you’ve believed the OP that Blackman has been sent back but ignored their following post about him saying he’d love to come back next season.

But that’s nonsense. There could be many reasons why Blackman won’t be here next season and none of them prove that he’s pissed off about it.

He also could have given plenty of other answers. He could have said “we’ll have to see what happens”. That would have been easy enough

But he loves the club. You quoted someone who says he does.

If you can't back what you're saying up to the cost of £10 then you should probably thing again about what you're saying.

He might love the club, it doesn’t mean he will definitely be back here next season as there’s many reasons why he might not be, why would I stake money on it?. You said we’ve pissed him off, there’s no evidence for that.

Not possible to terminate a loan unless both clubs agree.Can't see that happening in this case.

It was me and the Mrs that saw him at Rother Valley. The Mrs had a pic took with him and asked him why he wasnt in Bristol. His reply was becasue his loan has ended and he's going back to Chelsea. I thought it odd that even if thats the case he would have still travelled with the squad just to be a part of it.
 
Perhaps the Loan was up to the end of April...

A loan is still a contract between two clubs isn't it? Whereby we would pay Chelsea or we would takeover all or part of the players wages for the season.

It would be reasonable that if he's on high wages and with agreement of his parent club that there were two scenarios agreed:
a) If we reached the play offs we would keep him until end of May
b) If we didn't reach the play offs and as there is only one league fixture in May, that we released him if we didn't reach the play offs.

I have no knowledge of how it works in Football, but standard contract clauses will be inserted to protect all three parties (the parent club, the loan club and the player). All will have been agreed when the contract to loan the player was signed.
 
The U23s played Birmingham last Wednesday. Utd had Jordan Greaves in goal. My understanding is he was a Stocksbridge PS keeper doing an emergency favour for Utd. From a position of "guessing" I concluded Eastwood wasn't there because he must have been training with the First Team with a view to him being in the squad v Bristol City.

Yep. Would have thought it would be a basic premise of the contract. As soon as it mathematically impossible for us to make the Play Offs - the loan ends.

Similarly I'd have thought there'd be a clause paying Chelsea a bonus if he plays x amount of games and even bigger bonus if he plays x games and we get promoted/play offs.

If you borrow someone's lawnmower you give it back once all your grass has died...
 
I'm confused, loans are for 6 months or a full season. They don't end before the end of the season. Or when a team can't mathematically get promoted (think if we had Wednesday's form, we'd have been keeperless for weeks!).

Both teams and Blackman could have agreed to end it early. It seems an odd thing to do though.

It doesn't seem odd at all, if we are paying him monthly then we don't need to pay him for a month just so that he can sit on the bench down at Bristol City in a meaningless game.

So if we were smart and could do it, then why wouldn't we put in clauses to suit all scenarios ?

I presume the registration is with us until the end of the season.
