Wilder done deal (apparently)

I think so yes. My gut feeling is to be disappointed in him, but nobody knows how bad things are behind the scenes

I like Sunderland, proper club that's been through some shite. But can you look somewhere else please ;)

Crabster - If Wilder DOES leave it will based solely on how much he's increasing his salary as opposed to anything happening behind the scenes here.

If Wilder is on c£10k a week (£500k a year) here - yet is offered £50k a week (£2.5m a year) - its life changing money. Not just for him but it sets him, his kids, his grandkids up for life. He could earn in two seasons, what he could earn in a decade here.

Wouldn't begrudge him that at all, but if he ever fudges it and says it's about ambition etc, I'd lose all the respect for him that he's built up over two fantastic years..

Severed, fucking hell are things that bad? ;)

I know, totally hear what you're saying. It's just all a bit shite isn't it?

up in north yorkshire for the weekend and a guy from Sunderland who saw me and my lads in blades tops has just asked what the manager is like. He claims to be in the know and says that Wilder is resigning after the game tomorrow and has already done the deal to move to Sunderland. He was very sure of himself and apologised as he walked off. Hope that’s bolx

Then McCabes lawyers will be getting some more work. It doesn’t work like that.

Good point and I've just edited so people don't realise I'm posting after too many Gins!!

It's utter dog poo for us fans, but if someone offered me 4 or 5 times my salary, I'd sign for the Mittwoch Snort Beasts!!

Iron Maiden "Light Brigade" beer for me tonight.

Everyone and everything can be bought, it's just a matter of price.

Totally mate. Even Big Vern has his price!!

Adnams Gin for me tonight. Out in the Peaks tomorrow so need to wake up fresh in the Morrow....

If Wilder leaving is for his own career's sake then why would he want to stoop back down to league 1 and join a club that's literally at its lowest point

Is it really a wise move for his career? He's got to start ALL over again

Vern would have had a price if I'd ever paid him.

Enjoy. Strimming the lawn today with more to come tomorrow. It was interspersed with a trip to the emergency doc with Ms Crab. So, I needed the beer!

I don’t blame anyone for saying that but I don’t think that Donald is on his own here. Strong rumours of Spanish and arab oil money behind him. I don’t think that we know everything yet and Ellis short may still be involved somewhere along the line.
Woodwardfan , are you sure Wilder hadnt known this for quite a while? I hadnt heard of Repsol until tonight, what about you?

Jees mate. Hope all is ok in Casa Crab tonight and Mrs Crab is back home sipping something cold whilst checking her lottery numbers!!

I knew about repsol but that wasn’t the name being quoted to me. It was another Spanish oil company although that name may be one of their trading names.

As for wilder? Who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

It’s a huge gamble for him because safc offers nothing other than a massive challenge, too much for most, but also big money.

As well as can be expected mate. The ongoing Cancer issue has caused a Hernia, this went a funny colour today but all seems ok. The fluid the Cancer produces seems to have got into her lungs and heart though.

I can only ask you Blade. What would you do if you were in your dream job at your boyhood club. This man was at Wrexham supporting United in the supporters stand in an obscure cup on a rainy night when he was a player out injured, many years ago. I know, I was sat near him. His best mates eat and drink United. Say no more.

If he does go for money then I for one would not blame him. So many cynics on here. It makes any sort of loyalty look daft.

That post alone puts all this Wilder shit in perspective buddy... I'll be raising my glass to Mrs C tonight!!!

It is what it is Rog. I don't want to hijack the thread. I totally understand why people might be pissed off. I just don't have the energy for it that's all mate.

Think the thread the other day showed how much support you have round these parts!!

Plus to be honest, I think this is the ideal reposte to us getting our knickers in a twist about something which, in the grand scheme of things, isn't that important!!

I don't know you personally, but that sounds just awful. I wish you both well at this difficult time.

It really did.

I'd say football is our escape. No matter what else we have going on, we have our team. And when we win, well things feel just a little bit better. Not my place to tell anyone else what to think, but to me, whatever will be will be. A lot of us have seen the club go through a lot worse.

All the best Crabster and Mrs Crabster....gets it all into perspective...we will have to see what Wilder does and dissect it after that. Looks like a lot of smoke if there is no fire though...I would have to say I would see him as a bit of a quitter if he fucks off but who knows what is going on behind the scenes and sometimes a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. He'd be great for Sunderland.

I initially thought a move to sunderland would be completely against all Wilder has harped on about over the last few weeks ‘taking it to the next level’, but I’m not so sure it would be a strange move anymore.

From what I gather the current owner will be clearing all debts for the new owners. So he’ll have a parachute payment as budget, plus whatever they want to put in, so potentially an astronomical budget for league 1. A fair bit will be spent on severing ties with some of the current overpaid dross they have, but he could have upwards of £10m to build a team, with the guarantee of more if he gets them to the Championship. Plus a bigger salary for himself.

I saw him supporting us when he was a Rotherham player. That was at Everton in May 1993.

If Sunderland have offered him the salary he couldnt refuse then it does look like he knew about Stewart Donald's plans for a long time
