Wilder on the boardroom struggle

Wilder's speaking his mind for the good of the club;I think we should be thankful because very few managers would put the club before their own wallet. He's putting his job at risk here. The club accounts are revealing budget wise and indicate a significant downturn between Clough and Adkins that carried on into Wilder's tenure (certainly in terms of new money being invested).Adkins had to put up with the dross signed in Clough's last season and sell Murphy in order to finance a few signings. Wilder was given peanuts until January and that was dependent on the sales of Adams and Calvert Lewin. Spending accelerated in January (when we were flying) but was contingent on the sale of Ramsdale. No player was signed for more than 300k last season, according to Wilder. Clough came nowhere near automatic promotion despite having our second biggest league one budget after Wilson's first season (somebody else who massively underachieved in the league, given the budget.).Clough's cup record is the element of his tenure worth writing home about.
What I would say to counter the favourable view of Wilder in league one, is that the club had an awful lot of players out of contract, which gave him room to put his own stamp on it (mainly with frees and small fees).Adkins and Wilson, in particular, had less of an opportunity to do that. Clough's signings were his downfall.

Wilder says he won’t be a patsy.

Heed his advice.

What money would that be and where from?

Another one....

What money? The Chengdu money. Fradi money. Hotel money.

All money used by McCabe for his own gain gained through Sheffield United.

“But he lost out” you say?? So did we.

I’m banging my head against st a wall when it comes to the McCabe supporters. Wilder will leave if he isn’t given the tools for the job.

If the McCabe supporters think the sun shines out of his arse despite that interview then they have no hope whatsoever

If his budget is 5th lowest then anything above 5th bottom has to be considered a successful season because he has outperformed his budget.
How the fuck anyone cannot see that is beyond me.

Hahahahahaha.

I can see you strive for success in life.

Throw enough shit and some will stick. He got lucky. He can’t bemoan bad luck and then think he’s pulled a master stroke.

IF Wilder leaves then what will that mean? It means the chairman doesn’t give a fuck about the direction of the club. He doesn’t want success even if it is staring him in the face. He wants money. He wants profit. He wants the assets.

IF Wilder leaves then fans will. That interview was frightening. Who replaces a man that epitomises what every United fan thinks and wants from the players? We’ve been there, it’s horrible.

But don’t sit there and say McCabe is somehow part of the reason for our success. It’s minimal. At best.

Some will say we still have a club because of him. Be realistic, somebody would buy this club if it was on the bones of its arse. The potential is huge.

But McCabe is too far in to give a fuck about the future.
So he doesn’t give a fuck now? Jeez.....
He may want success but realises he doesn’t have the resources to fund it which is one of the reasons he brought the Prince on board?
Minimal? What about the ground? Academy? Or did he just get lucky with those?
I’m far from a MacCabe arselicker but let’s have some realism. At present we are roughly where we were when he took over. We’ve had more lows than highs on the pitch but he has left a good legacy in other ways. We are at a crunch point now where it’s down to him to sort the mess out. You could say it’s of his own doing but we all thought the Prince was the man to take us forward. These people who would buy the club. Been queuing up round the block have they the last 6 years? You know, while it’s been on the bones of its arse? He wants profit? What fuckin profit? The guys pumped almost 100 million into United and whatever the exact figure he will never get that back. Football profits are for the very elite few. Another myth that if told often enough it’s true. How much profit do you think he’s made out of United then?

The academy... produced Walker, Naughton, Lawton, Maguire... combined transfer fees (to SUFC) £15m??? Add-ons of circa £7m(???). Those figures are open to interpretation but that’s at a guess. And that’s only those 4 names!!

They may have been queuing round the block. We don’t know. McCabe May have priced them out?

What money would that be and where from? Simple question. Drunk Blade's post referred to the Prince putting money in when McCabe was gone. What money would this Prince with no cash put in and where would it be from? Please?

Keep at it patsy.

I have run a business and if anyone ever gave me an ultimatum there was only going to be one winner - me!!

I can't quite understand this "God like" worship of Chris Wilder, yes he has done great things but he is also culpable (as well as the players) for the way the team has performed in the second half of the season, Nigel Clough took a lot of stick for the way he set his teams up, that was his way of dealing with "no money" situation, it wasn't pretty and arguable had more success than CW even if he couldn't get us out League one (Burton won today and just maybe could keep them in the division which would be a great achievement - and you don't hear him moaning about having no money!!), I would be saying to CW "if you want to go then go but be warned there are a lot worse run clubs than this one"

I sincerely hope he stays but he needs to learn a bit of diplomacy - and keep his gob shut! sorting out "boardroom issues" is never going to be easy in any business but you get your head down and get on with the job - or leave.

It's been a great season I hope it doesn't get spoilt.

UTB
You are miles off beam here.
You completely miss the point that Wilder is
1. A true Blade.
2. Totally correct to call out the farcical ownership wrangle.
3. A breath of fresh air for all Blades because he is the straightest talking and most positive manager of the 8 or 9 since Colin.
You must live on another planet if you thought he would not offer his HONEST assessment of where we are as a Club at the end of a season in which
A) we were top in November and had a great chance for autos
B) the owners couldn't grasp the unique opportunity , gave no real cash in January , never spent the money to replace Coutts and get a fresh pair of legs up front
C) as a consequence were responsible for the season petering out , despite the best efforts of management & players to keep pulling rabbits out of hats on the 5th lowest budget.

He's off ladies and gentlemen. He's got balls of steel this lad and it's a shame he has to go public with a bleeding heart for the club he loves. McCabe loves money fact. If he was any sort of Blade he would be shoulder to shoulder with Chris but instead he's blanking him.

No bigger Blade than Kevin McCabe? Wrong look at the 28k in attendance today, all with different backgrounds, none as fortunate as yours Kevin but I would say they all have a bigger heart for our club than you do. You and the prince squabbling like dogs over a bone are fucking up the best thing we've had in years, you are a disgrace to the club the pair of ya.

So you agree that the academy, set up by MacCabe has paid for itself and been of benefit to the team and has the potential to for many years to come?
He has the clubs interests at heart. If a decent respectable buyer who acknowledged the history of the club had want to throw silly money at United do you think Kev would have stood in the way? Seriously? A man who loved the club that much he was prepared to throw 100 million at it?
Nobody thinks he hasn’t made mistakes. Christ he’s made plenty but to say he doesn’t give a fuck is ridiculous. He may try his hardest to rectify the situation over the coming weeks but what if the Prince digs his heels in? Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Before the academy we were in the 2nd division.

We are now in the 2nd division.

‘McCabe has paid for it himself’ - of course he has....

‘Clubs best interests at heart’ - yet the manager publicly stated he will walk if it isn’t sorted. If ‘what’ isnt sorted? A deal? A deal that suits who? McCabe or the club?

The only person who benefits from ANY deal will be McCabe. Not Wilder. Not us fans.

Now tell me who has the clubs interests at heart???

You're spot on there, he went to Rowlinson and started as a Quantity Surveyor. Talk about silver spoon ....

I don't care if he was Oliver begging for gruel as a kid he's still fucking over the best manager we've had in decades. Blade my arse.

MacCabe has paid for it himself...... who said that?
He says he will walk if the club doesn’t move forward and match his ambitions. Why do you think MacCabe brought the Prince onboard?
How the fuck soes MacCabe “benefit” or make a profit when you have put 100m or so into the club?
Pray tell me, if it’s only profit he was after, why did he sell 50% to the Prince for just a £1?
Now this one I’m dying to hear........
Take your blinkers off and have a think about it for a while

Why did he? Answer your own question. Are you saying Prince ain’t bothered any more?

KM took Prince on board. Prince and KM are allegedly in court. Why?

Rumours are that KM is overvaluing the assets.

It's possible to have a balanced view. McCabe has made some very poor managerial appointments, but he's also kept a loss-making venture afloat with his own money and genuinely seems to love the club. It's tempting to dream of a rich sugar daddy but we also have to be aware of the risks.

Wilder has done a wonderful job and deserves a shot at managing a Championship club with the resources to fight for promotion. But it's also his first season at this level and the club he loves has plucked him from lower league management. It's premature for him to be thinking about walking out on us.

On the later point, and just as a matter of opinion, I think he's nowhere near getting a job at one of the relegated Premier League teams.

Although an employee of the club he is a very passionate blade and that interview was spoken as a true blade we all want the ownership sorting.
He's in a position that does carry some weight and I would say 100% of us want it sorted quickly.
Football is not a normal business, passions run deep.He was speaking from the heart an employee or not.
He wants us to kick on next season ( not expecting to spend big bucks ) it needs sorting and quickly.

Rough transcript from the interview (at about 11 minutes in)

"I absolutely adore it here. I adore it, I adore it here and I'm frustrated and gutted and it's a roller-coaster and I love it and I've got a buzz when I get up in the morning and coming to work and working with great staff and great players and people that wanna drive it forward but I'm gonna say it as it is and if people say that err, things are gonna stay the same then as to your original question then I think a lot of people have got a lot of decisions to make"

It needed saying, & I'm still saying it
I'm not a fan of ultimatums

But that's the thing. What your thoughts are aren't really relevant to many - you dont need to say anything. Unlike CW who happens to be the main man at the Lane. And no, I'm not conceited enough to think that my views on here need to be said either.

If CW thinks it needs saying then I would rather he come out and says what he feels. That way everyone knows exactly where they stand, manager, fans, and the board room. Good on him for saying what he did.

The thing is with football ownership there has to be a point where you speculate to accumulate.

Chris has more than shown with the right tools he can out the club in an upward trajectory.

It’s easy to suggest spending someone else’s money but if there ever was a time to throw a bit more in, then it’s now, especially when you consider the relative free pass they got in the summer through the Maguire and Walker money.

You have said this a few times. Now can you explain what money and how much the prince will spend?

Why did he? Answer your own question. Are you saying Prince ain’t bothered any more?

KM took Prince on board. Prince and KM are allegedly in court. Why?

Because HRH is not intersted in buying the hotel, Shirecliffe & Crookes. He wants to buy only the football business. KM will not agree to this so the two are stubbornly left in deadlock. Typical SUFC example of shooting itself in the foot.

Rumours are that KM is overvaluing the assets.
