Personal opinion only

Lafferty (Bench warmer, utility player it seems but doesn't have a right foot so can only really play LWB, LCB and weirdly... LCM)
Carruthers (Seems to have a bad attitude, dropped by Wilder. It's a given)
Hanson (Also a given. I reckon he would've been handy for us to this season surprisingly as he would've been more effective than someone like Wilson or Donaldson when we're going for a last minute winner or leveller)
Lavery (Possibly? Not sure if he'll be what we're looking for in the Championship now we are play off contenders)
Hussey (A given)
Reed (don't think he's good enough)
Long (don't think he's good enough)
C Evans (injury prone since returning, may require a full pre-season but we said this at the start of the season and he got injured. Personal opinion is, we need better. Don't care what your love story is with Ched, is he really one of the answers for us to be serious play off contenders?)
Heneghan (don't really see a way-in. He's not better than Bash, Stearman or J'Oc... but then again, rarely seen him play but he doesn't even warrant a place on the bench)
Holmes (Normally players you sign in January are players you are going to use in the run up to the end of the season however he's rarely had a chance. He may be one of the few signing mistakes that Wilder has made)
Donaldson (might've scored a few very important goals for us, but contract is due to end in the summer according to what i've read, everytime he's on the pitch i get the worrying feeling he's going to tear a muscle or do something with his knees due to his age)

Personal opinions only - i'd like to know your thoughts also

Lavery
Lafferty
Donaldson
Hanson
Hussey
Ched Evans
Carruthers
Holmes (Chris clearly doesnt trust him, waste of money)

Try and get another loan out to the top of League One for Henegan, Long and Reed, Barnsley?
Try and get Eastwood some L1 game time too.

i thought so too about loaning them out, but not sure how much it would benefit us. if a team wanted to sign them from us then would we reject a couple hundred thousand?

Eastwood we should definitely keep. Top keeper at a young age. Also seems to be our backup keeper

Agree with all of those, but would like to see a bit more of Heneghan first before dispatching him. I wish we had not loaned out Thomas, and not signed Holmes.

I think it really depends on where you see next season going. If we look to progress rather than stagnate then there can’t be any sentiment, waiting years for a guy who may be adequate. I don’t see the following making any realistic contribution next season:

G - Long
D - Wright, Heneghan, Lafferty, Hussey
M - Carruthers, Reed
F - Wilson, Donaldson, Evans, Hanson, Lavery

Then question marks over:
G - Moore
M - Holmes, Thomas
F - Sharp

Leaves:
G - Blackman (hopefully), Eastwood
D - Baldock, Freeman, Stevens, Basham, Stearman, O’Connell
M - Coutts, Fleck, Duffy, Evans, Leonard, Lundstram, Slater
F - Clarke, Brooks

Goalkeeper is a concern. I’ve seen enough to worry me over Moore that he or George would be back up at best. You could sell one or both for me. Blackman returning would be a boost.

Need better at left back and with Leonard’s adaptability you can perhaps add just one centre back. Likes of Semple and Norrington-Davies can be 6th centre back and third left back options.

Midfield can arguably go again with Coutts, and his back ups have gained good experience. Perhaps a proper winger needed if we want a plan B. It will be a big summer for Holmes or Thomas or they could find themselves out the door.

Only Brooks off Clarke are a good option next year for me as forward players. How successful you are in getting the right numbers in may depend on if Sharp remains. The rest not good enough unless Evans finds the Delorean.

It would also be interesting to see if Chris thinks any of the youth can step up.

didn't want to start another Sharp debate so opted to keep him in :) think he scores important goals and is just an all-round goalscorer. if he left us in the summer, we would be looking for someone like him. another person who can score 60 odd in 120 odd games

Holmes (Normally players you sign in January are players you are going to use in the run up to the end of the season however he's rarely had a chance. He may be one of the few signing mistakes that Wilder has made)

Few? Are you sure? These are off the top of my head:

Holmes
Leonard
Carruthers
Hanson
Evans C
Lavery
Henegan
Thomas
Hussey
Wilson
Wilson (again)

They've hardly played any games between them. There's some real dross in there.

Outgoing:

Long (A good League 1 keeper)
Lavery (He is a tricky player but doesn't score enough goals)
Lafferty (I would only get rid if we get another left back in first)
Donaldson (I like the Don but he was a signing for one season only)
Hanson (Waste of time and money)
Hussey (couldn't cut it in League 1)
Carruthers (just can't cut it at this level)

Maybe keep:

Heneghan - I think this lad needs more game time and possibly a spell out on loan. When he did play this season he looked fairly solid.
Evans - Needs to be fit for next season and if not then get rid in January

Reed - One more season long loan but in League 1 and see how he goes
Thomas - I really would like to see him play next season not sure why Chris has not kept him in the squad this season
Holmes - If Chris doesn't play him in the next two matches then what is the point in keeping him

I’m very flattered that you see me as a possible back-up keeper, but I feel I should point out that I have always been a striker - that, and the fact that I’m 67....

Suspect Shrewsbury will have another go for Nathan Thomas especially if they get promoted.

Nowt that these days. Get a bit of padding on or off as the case may be :)

As things appear to stand at the moment, it may not be wise to get your hopes up that the clear out may be that big.

Leonard - not really had a chance yet. He plays in a position where our best players play. Fleck, Coutts, Duffy, L Evans... it's hard to complete against those! they're the best midfielders we have had in my recent memory

Thomas is one for the future, he's still in development. Hanson was a good signing towards the end of last season but we didn't need him this season

Agree with the outs but think Heneghan and Evans will be given another season as will the question marks unless Billy forces the issue. Thomas could become the winger option if he progresses. Heneghan will benefit from a loan which was going to happen before we pulled the plug on CCV.

If we continue with the same formation we will need to address the burn out over the season of our RCB and LCB. For me we need two new centre backs to deal with this in addition to what we already have. A new LWB and two new quality strikers is a must even if we keep Evans on. Including a loan for Blackman, which we all hope for, thats a minimum of 6 new players who are capable of being number 1 in their positions and not fill ins.

Listening to the views of the U23 watches it seems no one is ready to step up yet. Slater and Semple need to go out on loan to lower league clubs to gain experience.

You’ll be reyt. The fact you’re adaptable just strengthens the squad. We need a good blend of youth and experience :)

Hussey - Free
Lafferty - 100k
Heneghan - 300k / Loan to L1
Wright - Free, if he wants to leave
Carruthers - 300k
Holmes - 300k
Thomas - 200k
Donaldson - Free
Lavery - 150k
Hanson - 17k
C Evans - Loan to L1
Long - Loan to L1
Slater - Loan to L2
Reed - Loan to L1
Smith - Loan to L2

Quite a pile there, including 7 current first team squad players.

That should make way for 6 or 7 signings.

I still think we need.......

GK- Keep Blackman, perm if poss.
Buy another Keeper if not.

DEF- Think we need a better CB, another Defender or we move Leonard back, and another LWB better than Stevens.

MID- Think we're well stocked there and should be fine aslong as Coutts has no issues.

FOR- Think we need 2 forwards, younger and faster than what we've got, abit of height wouldn't go a miss eather.

Outs- for me we need to get rid of....
LONG.
REED.
CARRUTHERS.
HUSSEY.
LAVERY.
HANSON.
DONALDSON.
LAFFERTY.
WILSON.

I’d genuinely forgotten we still had Hanson - is he on loan somewhere or just sat home in his pants every Saturday?

I'd add:
Clarke and Wright- too old.
Freeman and Coutts - injury prone.
Basham and Lundstram - shit players.

If we want to become the ultimate champions of the world, we need to start with shipping out this dross and bring in a new 10-15 first team players.
I think this is sarcasm. I hope this is sarcasm.

nice bait

I'm not sure anyone, not out on loan or playing in the team, is sat in their pants every Saturday but then my imagination doesn't get that lively . . .

I do imagine Hayley Turner sat at home without her pants when she doesn't have a mount on a Satdy if that's any help though.

I wouldn't keep Freeman unless there's something specific which is causing all these injuries and can be solved. Just too injury prone.

on loan to relegated Bury

9 starts; [hooked x1] 9 on as sub - no goals

interestingly (?) O'Shea has turned out 25 times for them [netted 4]
& perhaps more pertinent given our keeper 'situation' Ripley has conceded 23 in 15 starts [1 clean sheet] - on bench for 3 games but regained jersey on Satdi after 'replacement' conceded 7 in the x3

I wouldn't keep Freeman unless there's something specific which is causing all these injuries and can be solved. Just too injury prone.
How many games did he play last season and how good was he? Hasn’t he been unlucky this season, must be worth a fresh start next season for us and compete with baldock.

i also think he's too slow for the championship
