I know he’s not brilliant, even last year he wasn’t and that’s in league one. But is there any reason he hasn’t had a chance this season?

He’s played more games at centre mid than left back!
Thought he did alright against Millwall for 20 minutes, but Stevens was bullied unsurprisingly at LCB, at fault for their goal in what was the stupidest tactical change I’ve seen all season.

Stevens hasn’t been earning his shirt since before Christmas. Lafferty must be on his bike come the summer because without doubt we need a new left back.

I’d just like to know exactly what Lafferty has done so wrong to not deserve a shot.

Could say exactly the same about Holmes, mate. He plays one game, against Wolves I believe, some regard him as the best player for us during this game, yet we see him less and less, until it's as if he was a figment of someone's imagination. Whatever he's done wrong, surely he's worth trying with, and I don't mean for the last 5 minutes of a game.

He’s not as good as Stevens.

I will agree with the Stevens that started the season - hard to tell since Dec/Jan time.

Lafferty has to go in the summer and give Stevens proper competition which could well be why Stevens is sitting in his own little comfort zone.

UTB

Far better going forward, defensively probably marginally better when he’s not performing IMHO. Stevens has made a number of mistakes, but he’s head and shoulders ahead of Lafferty. And Wilder agrees.
Lafferty is a better defender. Stevens makes one goal costing fuck up per game.

Listening to Wilder comments he said no one pushing hard enough in training to get a place which is a disappointment as there obviously has been players struggling but no one working hard enough in training to push into team. Will be interesting how Wilder tackles this in the window.

I'm probably in a minority of one but I think Hussey was bombed out too early and should've got another chance just like Jack O'Connell did.
Apart from the terrible crossing, weak defending and bad set pieces Hussey was alright. League 2 or lower end of League 1 is about his level. It shows how bad Stevens has been for the past few months if Chris Hussey gets suggested as an alternative.

When did O'Connell get bombed out then get another chance? he's barely missed any games since he's been here.

With our heavy reliance on the wing backs we need better than both of them at this level ,

Stevens form has gone right down the swanny since Oct at both ends of the pitch

Lafferty is at best steady at this level but def deserved a few more starts this season with Stevens form though

Didn’t he get dropped after Millwall away last season? Not bombed out as such

Based on one v Millwall?

Did you go yesterday?
There’s the one where he let Snodgrass shoot late on against Villa.

That’s 3 off the top of my head

O'Connell didn't get bombed out, despite him also looking like a League 2 or lower League 1 player at the time. That's my point.

Good attempt at trying to make me look ridiculous though despite your trouble understanding the post.

Yeh, when O’Connell lost Roberts and let him score from a few yards out?

I actually saw Hussey play on Sat (Swindon v Grimsby) and I was surprised at just how poor he was. His positioning is still awful, as was his delivery. Matty Taylor (yes that one) had to work very hard to thwart Grimsby's (very limited) attacks down their right.
I was even more surprised that he was somehow awarded MotM.
There is as much chance of one of us playing in the Champ as Hussey.

Haha, fair enough.

Do you honestly think Stevens is good enough??

I think he’s a decent player and is much maligned. His stats stand up to scrutiny against the better LWBs in the division. BladesPod did a decent analysis of this which is worth a listen.

We do need competition in that position, but for me he’s capable of being a really good performer (see his first 3-4 months). I also think the intensity of the role and the step up from League 2 has perhaps caught up with him. With another summer of coaching I think he could get back to performing at a very high level.

Put it this way, in terms of summer recruits another LWB is about 4th or 5th in my list of priorities.

I'd put LWB 3rd priority after a keeper and a goalscorer.

I think we need better personally, I'd be looking to move Lafferty on and bring in another LWB, aswell as a CB and another defender.
I think we're well stocked in the middle of the park, although we do lack delivery, and I think we need 2 forwards, better than we have.
I'm not criticising Clarke or sharp, but they're getting on now, and towards the end of the season this has shown, for the last 8-10 games, they've both been off it and injuries have been creeping in.
Donaldson, Hanson, Lavery aren't good enough, and it seems Ched isn't going to be doing it any time soon, and as for Wilson, why is he on Man Poos books, he's done nowt.

But on top of all that, we need to land Blackman perminantly and maybe even replace Moore from what I've seen this year.

So a few in, a few more out and one to trap.

Do you agree??
