Negative tactics what on Earth are you talking about. We didn’t win yesterday because too many players played poorly. Some of our fans make me want to pull my hair out with idiotic statements
Starting with one striker is negative.

Wilder (and a few others) have given some pride back to the Blades and for the fans to cheer about. We have had a great couple of years and hopefully it will continue. But we desperately need some real investment and some young legs - failing that, I suspect we might really struggle next year.

Up the Blades.

I was thinking earlier that i can see similarities between us & jurgen klopp liverpool from last season 2016/17. Where he his team fatigued whether mentally physically or both & paid a price. Liverpool were playing brilliantly up to the end of the calendar year. They were 2nd, 6pts off top & 7pts clear of 5th & had big thoughts about the title playing enjoyable attacking football. But then in January & February maybe like us the intensity of their high energy game caught up as they fell off a cliff. As in all competitions They won 2 in 12. 1 was spurs. the other was L2 Plymouth in fa cup replay. Dropping to 5th 14pts off title & out of both cups, in may managing to clamber back into 4th

Hopefully wilder who we forget is in 1st season of championship football & is learning just like the players. Will learn from the mistakes of this year. Alot like klopp did as look at Liverpool this season. Klopp has learned from his mistakes & paced the season far better, haven't had the drop off. could be 2 matches from a worlds biggest club cup final & 2nd place in premier league for 1st time since the gerrard slip

What date does the transfer window re-open ? :p

I'm not sure about Long actually but he is highly rated by Wimbledon fans this season, week in week out. Moore looks edgy to me . Blackman different class though.

As for Reed. If he's not now better than Evans, Lundstram and Leonard, I'd be amazed.

Come to think, Whiteman would have done at least as well as the new signings since January and better than Lundstram too.

We have aimed too low and been guilty of not seeing what we already had.

Mitchell has a fair bit to do this summer.

Is this for real?? You actually think Reed would be better than Evans?! A midfielder deemed not good enough by Wilder, and shipped out to the worst team in the English football league, would be an upgrade on a Welsh international who has made the central midfield spot his own in our side?

He still hasnt changed his mind despite that Reed isnt rated the best player for a team that is currently 92nd in the league ( I regularly speak to Chesterfield fans at work)

The below post was written last August before Chesterfield were playing at Wendy in the League Cup.:D:D:D

Wednesdayites will watch Reed tonight and think " bloody 'ell if he cant get into the squad how good are the rest?"

Opinions, eh? ;) This is what twitter thinks of him in the last month.

A free contract would be perfect but an extended loan from Sheffield United would also be brilliant. Has been our whole midfield at times and has very rarely put a foot wrong this season. He's the whole package with speed, strength, passing and attacking prowess.

Reed - Only 1 of 2 genuine people with quality in midfield, been best player recently.

I’ll review them now for you lads... everyone absolutely wank with the exception of Louis Reed!!

Chesterfield: Louis Reed, a very promising young player with a bright future

Silva is a poor mans Louis Reed

Jack Lester: “Louis Reed was excellent on Sunday. Consistency is the key with Reedy and that’s why we rate him so highly.”

Louis Reed (20) has been impressive this season for Chesterfield, starting 33 games for the Spireites in League Two.

They were better than a lot of teams I've seen. Solid enough at the back. Louis Reed's a phenomenal player too

Louis Reed can father my children. World class.

Andy Kellett and Louis Reed are the best 2 players in the football league 2

Louis Reed is best player on this pitch

Chez taking Notts County apart in first half, and Blades loanee Louis Reed is by far best player on the pitch. Class so far. (Kevin Gage)

If Louis Reed doesn't get MOM here I must be a Lesbian.

Will show this to my workmates later today. He is OK for League 2 level but the point I am making is that for the last few years WWF has said in here several times claiming that Reed is "world class" which amused me. You agree with WWF?

Maybe this sheds some light on "think Liverpool".

Louis Reed is a small gamble, give him a pre season here and a 1 year contract to prove himself. In my view he isn't good enough and we have criticised Wilder in the past for bringing in lower league players like Nathan Thomas in. Why would Reed be any better apart from the fact that he's been on our books for a few years?

I love it when we get a Bladey Blade coming through the ranks, even better when we don't sell them immediately for a pittance, but sometimes we romanticise academy players and put them on a pedestal. We've produced a long line of lower league midfielders in recent years (Hurst, Law, Whiteman, Whitehouse, McFadzean) and I've not seen much from Reed to say he'll be anything but.

It does make you wonder where Chesterfield would have ended up if we'd have let them have Brooks last summer though.

My post related to to the opinion of your work mates, which as long as they go to matches, is valid. It does however seem to be different to the opinion of other fans.

No, I don’t think Reed is world class. I think he is 20 yr old with some potential and for the money involved in giving him another 2yr deal and seeing what he does, is worth a gamble. If it doesn’t work out, then he’s another Ben Whitman, and no tears are shed.

For whatever reason Reed catches undeserved flack on here and gets the infantile nickname treatment, where as shithouses like Carruthers don’t. There’s also plenty who’ll wait on 30yr players to come good, but are happy to jettison 20yr olds. If Reed, with 100 professional games under his belt, falls below our quality threshold, then we’ll be releasing over 90% of the 20yr olds on our books in the summer.

Fair enough

Looks like the lads showed the potential we all saw in the Rotherham home game. Sure he was only 16 then n'all?

Reed is decent. Nothing more. He could well improve.

He would return to our squad as 5th / 6th choice CM. And therin lies the problem. His pathway is blocked.

His development, and his future, is away from UTD.

Fair enough

Sorry Silent, the tone of my response was a little sharp. It wasn't meant to be. :)

To put it simplistically, I think he's young enough & has shown enough to be given a chance to show if he can meet the required standard, maybe not immediately, but definitely for 2019/20 season. Others disagree, and I think that they'll be on the right side of history (at least at BDTBL). I suspect that he won't be here next season & will in all probability end up at either Doncaster or Rotherham, who knows.

I'm a big believer in youth and the use of the academy and would like to see a couple of youngsters in each season's 1st team squad, and see it as a risk worth taking. And that is what possibility overly negatively colours my opinion of fringe players we buy, who don't even make the bench. As has been shown with DCL, a young player's talent isn't always obvious, well not to me and needs to be given it's legs. ;)

Bringing youth through are easy words to say I know, the trouble comes in getting the quality. :)

CW was absolutely spot on when he said he had no problem with his team playing shite and losing. But his real concern is when we play brilliantly and don’t go on and win the game.

Was the only shining light away at Preston in December too.

Agreed, and although many others may not like it when I say it, Lafferty actually gave us a lift when he came on in that game as well.
