Hope its not posted elsewhere, cant see it anyway

Hes been banned for 2 years

SUFC said:
Sheffield United last night moved to solve their goalkeeping dilemma by signing Blackburn's Mark Bunn on a month's loan.

No.1 Paddy Kenny will be hit with a two-year ban following his failed drugs test.

Kenny, 31, was suspended by the Blades after testing positive for the banned substance ephedrine after the play-off semi-final in May.

He is expected to argue the stimulant entered his system by accident because it was in cough mixture he took before the match.

Kenny's case will be heard before an FA disciplinary inquiry, as well as an independent regulatory commission.

Oh dear oh dear

It's reported on the OS... but it's actually a report from, the most reputable of sources, The Daily Star.

Pinch of salt needed.

theres a salt mine nearby that may be more appropriate(*sp)

Oh the Daily Star who wrote the article? Nikki 21 from Nottingham ;)

cant see him gettn 2 years maybe few months ban.. not like its cocaine or sumthing else

I've tried and failed to explain why cocaine gets less of a ban than performance enhancing drugs... seems no one wants to listen though!

I understand it from a sport point of view and can see why it is the case. But in terms of damage to the system, coke is more dangerous than cough medicine (which isn't being used to mask other drugs) so people would expect that recreational drugs would be just as harshly punished if the aim is to protect the health of the sports person as well as the integrity of the sport.

But if someone takes cocaine, they can be punished by the criminal justice system, and indeed should as it is against the law. Someone who takes ephedrine is breaking only the rules of their profession, so they're untouchable by law. Added to this is the fact that someone who takes a perfomance enhacing drug is trying to gain an unfair advantage, whereas someone who takes coke is just a prick whose performance will most likely suffer.

Whether or not this is morally right is debatable, but that's why recreational drugs are not punished as highly as performance enhancing drugs - and no amount of hand-wringing by fans is going to alter that!

To be slightly pedantic, that's not entirely correct. It's not illiegal to take drugs, it is illegal to be in possession of them (compare that with somewhere like Dubai where you can be imprisoned for failing a blood test).

But yeah, I agree with your point, sporting bodies should be more harsh on performance enhancing drugs than recreational drugs.

It all really depends on the levels in his system if its low and more than likely from a cough mixture then it will probably be 6 months if its a high dosage expect a two year bad and no less.
Were not exactly the FA’s favourite team are we?

Tuesday's media review

Says it all tbh.

This is todays media review:

It says that Evans is likely to start the season in attack with Jamie Ward, who made a good impression after his arrival from Chesterfield last season.

I thought Ward was was suspended for 4 games or something like that because of his red card at play-off final and i thought Ched Evans weren't fully match fit.

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong on any of this.

I think it's just 1 game isn't it?
Wasn't it 2 yellow cards in the Playoff Final instead of a straight Red?

I think someone may be trying to blow smoke up Southgates arse, lets face it that is far more preferable to his face. He may try and talk to you (shudder). Can you imagine Southgate and Bryan-excitement-Robson having a conversation ;)

How dare you insinuate the finest actor of our generation is unexciting?

Good old Jossy's Giants I do believe, classic show. Sadly after a team talk from Robbo half the poor little 'uns topped themselves :(
