Best Goalkeeper this season and why?

Best Defender this season and why?

Best Midfielder this season and why?

Best Striker this season and why?

Best result/match this season and why?

Worst result/match this season and why?

Best match for atmosphere this season (home or away) and why?

Best away following (at the Lane) this season and why?

For me it would be...

Best Goalkeeper this season and why?
Jamal Blackman - His reach, and even kicking is far far better than Moore, he gives me more confidence in his coming to collect the ball by catching instead of punching 9/10 times.

Best Defender this season and why?

O'Connell - Stearman has been the most improved by a mile, however O'Connell went from LG1 > Championship with ease and you wouldn't even realise it.

Best Midfielder this season and why?

Fleck - I believe has Coutts not got injured so early on, he'd have been the best this season but Fleck has been different class this year, Duffy coming a close 2nd.

Best Striker this season and why?

Clarke - 17 league goals this season, may have missed a few sitters but 17 goals and 3rd overall top scorer, amazing.

Most improved player and why?

Richard Stearman - Came in for a lot of stick in his first 5-10 games but has been solid ever since, a few mistakes here and there but all defenders make mistakes.

Best result/match this season and why?

Sheffield Wednesday 2-4 Sheffield United - Doesn't even need a reason.

Worst result/match this season and why?

Norwich sticks out, so does Barnsley Away however I'm gonna go with Bolton at home - Madine the pr***k.

Best match for atmosphere this season (home or away) and why?

Millwall has to stand out, but that may be cos I forget quickly :D

Best away following (at the Lane) this season and why?

Millwall? Wolves? Leeds? I'd go for one of those.

Good shouts JL yet it's hard to believe Duffy is not in there somewhere.

Wonder who was the 'Best Owner' !!!

Some good shouts but I don’t think most improved can go to a championship stalwart in Stearman, he hasn’t played below that level. It should go to one of our lower league players who have improved from last year and needed to step up, that man is Basham.

I’m not saying Bash was crap before but my word is he improving, he gets better every passing week.

GK- Blackman

D- Jack O'Connell

M- Mark Duffy by a mile

ST - Billy: Nobody wants him here but he's still doing it.

Most improved - O'Connell again. I didn't buy into the "magic hat" crap perpetuated by many of our dullard fans last season but he's earned his stripes this year.

Best Result - THAT one against the subhuman scum of S6

Worst result - Bolton.....fucking Bolton

Best match for atmosphere - Leeds at home. Billy Sharp scored twice, a lot of people don't know that.

Best Away fans- Aston Villa hands down

My only modifications to that would be:

Most improved player:
Stearman was a class above what we already had and it was only because of the Shakies who were looking for any excuse to get him in the team instead that diminished his performances. Stearman was already the finished article.

Best Result: Wolves at home. Best team in the league by a country mile and we played them off the park.

Mark Duffy by a mile? Fleck has played 3389 minutes with 38 starts, Duffy has played 2312 minutes with 26 starts so I’d have to disagree on workload alone. Duffy should start if fit but therein seems to be the problem, unless Wilder sees something else we don’t?

Best Goalkeeper this season and why?
Jamal Blackman - His hair.

Best Defender this season and why?

O'Connell - He's magic

Best Midfielder this season and why?

Fleck - His goal at Sty

Best Striker this season and why?

Clarke - His gloves

Most improved player and why?

Richard Stearman

Best result/match this season and why?

Sheffield Wednesday 2-4 Sheffield United - BDM

Worst result/match this season and why?

Norwich sticks out because of the time wasting

Best match for atmosphere this season (home or away) and why?

Aston Villa

Nobody has the transformative effect on the team like Duffy has when he plays, and nobody has made a better transition to the 2nd tier than him either. I think he's been outstanding. That's why he gets my vote. We'll miss him incredibly when he's gone.

Duffy has a final product, something Fleck needs to work on. Fantastic player, but hasn't done enough in the final third this season for me.

;)

Nobody?

It’s not ‘who’s played the most’ award is it? Duffy’s my player of the season by the way

You're trying to suggest that because he's played well all season, he can't have got better as the season has gone on?

Really??

Na, just always see most improved as someone who overcame a dodgy start. Appreciate where you’re coming from though, hence the emoji :D

I can’t disagree with that but they’re both different players and it’s Fleck that finds Duffy in his little pockets of space most of the time, which Duffy finds brilliantly.

I never said that, but if it’s a season award I personally think you have to have played most of it to gain the award.

Think it’s more about what you do in the time you’re on the field. Their goal/assists record will be a clue

Disagree completely, Fleck does have the final product it’s just that our strikers need 5 chances before they put the ball in the onion bag.

Incidentally, they both have scored the same, but Duffy has 4 more direct assists, hardly earth shatteringly different.

See my post above, how can you get an assist if the strikers don’t put the ball in the back of the net when you put it on a plate for them?

Best Defender this season and why?
O'Connell - Stearman has been the most improved by a mile, however O'Connell went from LG1 > Championship with ease and you wouldn't even realise it.

O'Connell was my biggest worry at the start of the year. Of all our starting players from last year, he was the one that I was convinced wouldn't be able to make the step up. I told anyone who'd listen that, with stronger opposition to play against, he wouldn't be able to get forward anywhere near as much, he would be outpaced by nippy little strikers and he'd be out-muscled by the stronger forwards in the division. As it happens, I was equally vocal about Harry Maguire being unable to step up to the Championship. Just to clarify, I am not a professional football scout.

It's his new yellow boots, I'm sure of it. As Warnock once said of Kozluk, you need to be a good player to wear those and so it has proved with Bash :-)

Best Goalkeeper this season and why?
Jamal Blackman - His whole game, barring possibly communication far exceeds Moore. He is just a much better keeper, brilliant with his feet too.

Best Defender this season and why?

O'Connell - Athletic, Quick, Strong, Good reader of the game, Good with the ball, Wins 99% of his headers and superb in the tackle. One area for improvement though, he definitely should score more goals. He's had a good few gilt edged changes this season which he should've put away (like he did last year) and that's something for him to work on. Baldock close 2nd.

Best Midfielder this season and why?
Fleck - Unbelievable. People talk about losing Coutts, but honestly if we'd lost Fleck it would've been even worse. He does so much work, covers so much ground, and is a superb footballer. Duffy - brilliant, but Fleck... Jesus. He's different class. Should get more goals if we're being picky, but his overall game is top drawer.

Best Striker this season and why?

Clarke - 17 league goals. 50k.

Most improved player and why?

Stearman - I'm not having the 'because he is a Championship stalwart he can't be most improved' bollocks. He definitely is, his start was tragic and we couldn't scream for Wright to come back into the side loud enough. He did and we improved vastly as a team. Then Stearman came back in after the Fulham game and was iffy again, but after a run of games he started to show his worth. Still has a couple of dodgy moments but they are few and far between. Good signing.

Best result/match this season and why?

Pigs 2-4 Sheffield United - well, why?

Worst result/match this season and why?

Take your pick from a few, these were all disastrous. Bolton at home, Barnsley away, Hull away, Preston away (in terms of performance alone), Norwich at home, Birmingham at home.

Best match for atmosphere this season (home or away) and why?
Wednesday away surely. The bounce killing was outstanding.

Best away following (at the Lane) this season and why?
Millwall brought a decent amount.

Is it most improved over the season then or most improved from the end of last season, bollocks?

Over this season :)
End of last season I’d say Basham is a fair shout, didn’t think he’d cut it but bar the odd mistake and iffy game he’s been superb again.

Brooks has to be a consideration but we didn’t see enough of him last season to comment.

Which also applies to Duffy, no? Or is he playing with a different set of strikers?

I just think he started the season as covering for Freeman and doing quite well, but has ended it as one of the top 3 RBs I need the Championship...

If he's not Player of the Year (in my mind he is), he's definitely 'find' or 'breakthrough' player for me...

Signing of the season?

Of course it applies to Duffy, my point is and was from the beginning is that Duffy has the licence to play further forward and as good as he’s been when he’s played hasn’t imo won the best midfielder by a ‘mile’.

I haven’t got a problem with people saying him because I think he’s a cracking player but even if he did win it, it wouldn’t be by a ‘mile’, again just my opinion. What it does show is that we have some very good players on our books to be having this debate in the first place.

And can I ask you nicely to stop being stupid, asking me questions that you know what the answer will be, it’s all a bit petulant.
