I'm not his biggest fan, but to be fair to the lad, he was out for 8 mths with a ruptured ACL and only started playing again at the back end of August 2017 for the Man Utd u23's. Every time i've seen him, he looks ill. His scoring record is 9 goals in 53 games, I'm not sure what we were expecting.

I wonder what it is that happens in pre-season that can’t be done in peri-season, ie whilst the season is under way? We seem to hear this a lot, about players “needing a pre- season”, but it’s just a six week spell of training and there’s lots of six week spells of training throughout the season, about 8 of them actually.

I’m beginning to think that this thing about players needing a pre-season is about as valid a reason as them being “tired”. Both are excuses for players who are not mentally or physically fit enough to do the job we’ve employed them to do.

In Wilson’s case I don’t know what the answer is. Not seen enough of him to be fair, although I think I’ve seen every minute he’s played for us. He runs around quite a lot, so Matt Done fans should appreciate that, but he doesn’t always take the ball with him, that’s the main issue as far as I can see.

Well I’m not calling him a sack of shit. I’m suggesting he should be given another chance. He’s obviously got something about him but he hasn’t shown it yet. Did well at Norwich I thought. But there’s obviously something not right if he’s not even making the starting squad, which is why I wondered if he’s injured?

Part of his issue is that he hasn't had a run of games for quite some time and that he doesn't seem to know what type of striker he wants to be. Right now, Sharp, Clarke and Donaldson are all a calibre above him because they know how they want to play.
