Stevens. Who was having a decent game up to then. Left him .still asleep for.the kick off
 
What was the goal even like, just remember sitting down and the next thing it’s bobbling past Blackman and wild scenes from the away end !
 



I am dumfoundergasted. 9 points thrown away in 4 of last 5 games and it cannot be a coincidence. I often get fed up of hearing managers saying "We gave away bad goals" but fucking hell, these last few games have been a joke. Bad decision making, individual errors and switching off at crucial times have cost us big time.

Rant over. Disappointing end today but a really good display by the lads. The Wall keeper kept them in the game as the lads pressed and pressed and in the end we deserved to win but that's footie for you. Still in with a bit of a shout with 3 to play, and who would have thought that in August.

Well done Chris and the lads.
 
I don't think that would have been scored if Stearman had still been on the pitch, or if Wright had come on. Strange decision to bring on Lafferty and move Stevens to left centre back. Not his position and had been playing well as wing back. Really need to stop conceding soft goals and take our chances. How games have we dominated and won by a single goal or not won.
 
Yeah i put on the main match thread how infuriating it was. The defence were a utter disgrace. 1 of the 1st most basic things taught from junior football. Concentration. All they had to do was keep focused for 30 secs after kick off, ride it out & we had it sown up. They couldn't even do that

I apologise sat near me on the forum. For kicking every inanimate object within reach
 
Couldn’t see them scoring to be honest and then we gift them that. I’d need to see the goal again but looked very poor defensively.

For the first time in a while I felt nervous with Blackman in goal as he kept getting caught in no mans land after coming for balls that he couldn’t get. Saying that he also made a couple of excellent reaction stops but thought he looked s little of it from crosses / long balls.

This season has really been a golden opportunity to get into the playoffs with most teams struggling at one time or another. God knows when we will get a better chance.

After such a fantastic start we really should be up there but the form since Christmas has been generally very disappointing and inconsistent.

Still a great first season back but can’t help but feel that we have missed a great opportunity as I feel that chance has gone now.

At least Wednesday are still shite though.
 
My fault
I've not seen us win live since Leeds away on 27th October 2017.
That's 11 games home and away since then :(

Completely agree with this. At the start of the season we'd have all been absolutely delighted to still be within a shout of the play offs with 3 games to go, but after being top of the league in November, it's quite disappointing.
 
This season is far from over 4points separating 7 clubs win our last3 and we will .do it Brent Ford,Bristol and Preston
Can't catch us and think the other 3 are all catchable .3 wins 9 points easy ,come on Blades.
Our luck must surely turn we seem to get punished in every game for an error .We were far better than MIll wall but yet again get punished for switching off just once in the entire game.
Come on Chris get them up for the fi am push ,I beleave we can do it.
 
A factor is squad quality isn't it. Stearman comes off and we put Steven at left centre back. A bit more quality in depth and we put a header on that.

If we can hold the core of this squad together, sign a top CB and 2 forwards to put pressure on the 2 decent forwards we have. Apart from that, we need a bit more down the left. Also need to replace Blackman which is a big one. So 5 signings that are good enough to start every game and quite a few out the door and we should be fighting around the same level next year.

Of course, win our next 6 games and the squad probably needs a bit more work ;)

Too many times now for us to use it as an excuse .. it’s no good us dominating possession then throwing 2 points away with defending like that more so when we play with 3 centre halves they should be eating that ball for breakfast
Being saying all season we do not have a dominant CH in there & we need to address that sharpish if we want to progress .
We’ve gifted teams a lot of points this season and in-picked the good work .
So fkg frustrating !!

The trouble is for the Millwall goal we were not playing with 3 centre halves why Wilder thinks Stevens is a better option at centre back than Jake Wright I'll never know :confused:

Really was a complete switch off long punt no danger if our defenders were concentrating .not nievity just plain bad game management
 
That goal was the managers fault ,not the first time he's made an inexplicable tactical substitution that's opened the back door

He needs to go back to his positive attack minded mentality or buy some better defensive cover
If he carries on like this he will be getting a nasty nickname
