Team v Millwall

Stearman resumed training today.

Does he come straight back in? A big yes from me.

Blackman back in for Moore? Another yes from me. Millwall get crosses galore into the box and Blackman for me is better equipped for this.

Those would be the only changes I would make.
Agree with both these. If Duffy is fit I'd also like to see him start. But who to drop?

Tough one with Duffy because I think Brooks would appreciate someone like him in there.

It'd be between Evans and Lundstram, and on the last game Evans aint getting dropped.

Stearman back in if fit I suspect.

Blackman back in I pray.

Don't see any other changes tbh unless Clarke needs resting but can Billy play alongside Brooks?

Would love Duffy back in but as said, who else makes way.

I'm strangely confident about this one.

Agree Jamal in for Moore, due simply to his reach and ability to pluck out crosses. Moore has been very decent this season and can be proud of his contribution, but for me Jam has the shirt for the final four games. Took me a while to be convinced, but I think he has grown in confidence this season.

If everyone is fit then I think the team picks itself so to speak.

I'd be tempted to start with the Don over Clarke, he really isn't at the races at the moment.

I think we will end their run on Saturday but my word it will be tough. Looking at their recent match stats they regularly win games with possession between 30-40% and the only time they have had more possession than an opponent was against Sunderland with whom they drew, interestingly.

They will be well suited to soaking up our long spells of possession, so we absolutely have to take our chances. Oh and another wonder goal from distance wouldn't go amiss either.

Bringinbackstearsanbigblacks is the easiest decision Tufty will ever have made!

Millwall play a basic 4-4-2 and are a solid team. We need Duffy in there to get in between their midfield and defence to make sure we can break them down.

Lundstram has played better than Evans recently, and is more combative, which for this game is a big factor. So despite the two great goals, I'd leave Evans out.

Blackman and Stearman returning is a no brainer.

Agree with that, good post. I think Duffy is more effective playing at home instead of away.
It’s tricky to know whether to go for Lundstrum or Evans, both are good enough, so i’m fine with either.

My thoughts exactly been hoping for a while that CW would try this but I think Billy's movement would be more suited to Brooks and Duffy with free roles behind or either side

Always love having Duffy in the team but I don't think we can against a good counter attacking team. Need those 3 CMs to help cover. Especially if Stearman is out.

Stevens has to show up if Duffy doesn't start. We'll need all our attacking options. Can't afford to carry him again. I thought he did well in the last 10 mins on Tuesday. Hopefully that carries over

I just think if we can get 3 attackers on the pitch and with Brooks and Duffy’s range of movement we could cause some real damage would be a nightmare to defend against

Blackman
Basham Stearman JOC
Baldock Evans Fleck Stevens
Duffy
Brooks Clarke

Blackman in for Moore.
Stearman in if 100% fit, as wright hasn’t done anything wrong so pointless risking him.
Duffy for brooks. Sharp for Lundstrum/Evans.
As expect them to sit back a bit so could do with Duffy to unlock their defence

Our best midfield performances since Coutts hasn't played were Cardiff and Boro where Fleck Lundstram and Evans all played. People really have it in for Lundstram when in my opinion he's been superb the last few weeks along with Bash. I don't think Blackman should walk back into the side on principal although I think we've now realised how much better Stearman is than Wright? Good assist from Brooks but still a long way to go in terms of his reading of the game and overall contribution to defending which I think we will need Saturday. With that in mind I'd go

Moore
Baldock Basham Stearman O'Connell Stevens
Evans Fleck Lundstram
Duffy
Clarke

Yes, Clarke hasn't looked anything like a decent player for a long time now.
Other than his consistent good to very good performances over the last few weeks with the exception of one game against Middlesbrough? While Donaldson has looked absolutely lost?

Brooks is a very, very clever player, his movement and reading of the game is up there with the best of our players and Blackman should come back in because he’s the better goalkeeper out of the two. Agree with the rest of your post though and if Lundstram has recovered from Tuesday, as he was absolutely shattered then he should start.

Leave Brooks out, you are joking surely
