This is the reason why our fingers and thumb are different sizes. Evolution. A different digit can be used depending on the location of said object.

Joking aside I was sat about 50 yrd away and didn't see what happened. Just saw Clarke having a nap on the floor, and then staggering around like Tyson Fury had punched him.

Clarke went down as he went past him. Whilst not seeing contact as I was half looking the other way, my initial reaction was that he had done him.

If not it was either accidental or Clarke was trying to get him sent off by cheating. Based on the actions of their players first half I wouldn't rule out the former.
