If he improved his final product and stayed at the top of his game, he'd be off like a shot to someone beyond our means of competing.

I said this exact same thing last night and in My opinion answers the original op perfectly.

He has no end product, in fact his crossing when matched against the positions he gets in to is poor.

However great signing and great player for us.

100% effort every game, heart on sleeve performances and never shies from the ball...only thing lacking is better decision making and consistency in his final ball...this kid cares and it shows. If it’s not going for him, he keeps plodding away

Agree

End product let’s him down when most other things he does are good

By far the best I have seen him play for us last night. If he could just improve his percentage of decent crosses into the box he would be outstanding.

While he is very good, I am also a Freeman fan. Freeman scored plenty last season but his defending is a little worse than Baldock and, I feel, his delivery a little better.
Can either Freeman or Baldock switch from R to L?

The Freeman/Baldock dilemma is going to be a nice problem to have...at present, the shirt is Baldock’s to lose. I think George offers more defensively and is more involved in build up play than Freeman, but Kieron offers that valuable commodity, goals! Whether he can do it at the next level up remains to be seen, but he certainly did enough to earn that chance during the promotion season (remember he started that campaign by being transfer-listed with Coutts, I think).
The Baldock assist stat seems unfair...far more of our dangerous attacks come down the right than the left - Baldock is always heavily involved, even if he doesn’t put in the final ball or lay off for the goal.

He's been excellent all season.

Yes, his delivery isn't always great but he has put some crackers in that nobody has got on the end of. At the end of the day it's a coachable issue. Get him wiorking on it all summer and he'll no doubt be one of the best in the league.

I really rate Baldock but if you look at his stats he has suprisingly few assists for how good his general play is.

His general play is really good, but the one area he is still poor with is in his delivery from cut-back opportunities – both he and Stevens really do need to improve on this given a core part of our game is to get into those sort of positions. Another example last night where I think he hit it behind everyone. Basham is even worse on this, as evidenced yesterday after getting into a great position.

That's part of the story of our season, getting the "wrong" players into great positions and space but no end product.

Yep. Watching him and Basham trying to work and overlap (with comedic value!!) which inevitably leads to us cutting back inside and passing to Lundstram who more often than not passes it backwards, is one area we can massively improve.

If only he could deliver, get in to positions and score like Freeman, he would be off like a shot. Freeman may not be as good a defender individually as Baldock but the team understanding he had, especially with Basham was outstanding.
Freeman s passion, team play and desire to keep improving has been missed more than any other player this season.

If he could cross a ball he'd be playing in the Premiership, he would be even better playing in a back four at the moment he needs to work on the final ball into the box.

Love his celebrations when we score and his commitment. So much passion and one of those you would always want alongside you in the trenches.

Fantastic first season from Baldock and Wilder/Knill and our scouting section must take huge credit for signing Baldock who has to be one of the better right backs/wing backs in the league and cost us about 500,000. But he's not alone either - Evans and Lundstram look great buys too with real potential and a word for Enda Stevens who seems to be the first to get stick but he cost us nothing and played League 2 last season. He's had a decent season too in my view, albeit not as good as Baldock.

What's really great is signing guys under 25 with the ability to improve and if required sell on and re-build. When we do sign an oldie they've cost us nothing or next to nothing and also contributed superbly - Leon, Duffy, Wright, Stearman - whatever we paid for him is effectively next to nothing he's been that good.
