I understand why we feel dejected at the same time we need some perspective that we actually have something to play for going into the end of the season, I know I'm not the first to have said so on here but I firmly believe if we win tomorrow we will make it. We've got ourselves in this position far beyond pre-season expectations (I predicted that we would be lucky to finish 21st, delighted to have been proved wrong), and these other clubs are jealous of where we're at so I hope we make the most of it with a storming atmosphere on Tuesday night. Let's get a bit of believe and enthusiasm going!

I'm not so sure West Brom are so envious of us given we will be in the same division next season and their budget will be tens of millions bigger than hours.

This reminds me of the old days when we came down from the PL and were selling all our good young players and you used to hear the clappers and people who thought Trevor Birch knew what he was doing say "at least we're not Leeds/Forest/Leicester/Charlton/Norwich/The Pigs/Southampton". People eventually stopped doing this when all these teams passed us and saying "at least we aren't Portsmouth" (who at least won a sodding trophy with that money) looked a bit pathetic.

Moral of the story: who cares what everyone else is doing?

I also notice that with the exception of Reading and Hull every single team on that list has won a major trophy more recently than us.

They've also all spent more seasons in the PL than we have, save for Reading.
