If my alcohol frazzled brain is right then we have 5 games and 15 points left to play for. Pigs, the same.

The pigs are 15 points and many, many places behind us. So we just need a single point to be safe from being overtaken.

This season has been better than we hoped for, but that early part of the season was the best I’ve ever seen, performances against the Pigs and the Wolves made opposition teams sit up and realise we weren’t going to face a relegation battle that they thought and hoped

We’re a good side going through a terrible patch at the moment, for a number of reasons, all of which are being discussed on other threads.

Personally I’m disappointed at the way we’ve dropped off, not too stressed about how we did in the transfer window as I never expected big spending. In December I think we had the opportunity to continue the way we started but we’ve not done it.

However, to be top 10, safe from relegation and still in with a shout of play offs, despite me not wanting us to be in them, it’s a huge achievement.

Barnsley, burton, Bolton and soon sheff weds will finish below us. Leeds hopefully too and for personal reasons I’m hoping we keep above Brentford.

Only sad thing is that madine will be above us

If we now take it to the last game and finish 7th I’ll be happy with the season as a whole.

I’ve said before that I don’t want the play offs as I’m not that fussed about the prem, but also I don’t think we’ll win them and that always seems to be such a hard thing to recover from

Lastly, the play offs and a defeat is always an extension to the season that we don’t want, need or physically can do without. These players need a rest and that few weeks extra will do them and the management team the world of good

Whatever budget we get in the summer,we must prioritize a striker.
We're playing well, creating chances, out playing teams but not putting the chances away.
Top ten this season is a tremendous achievement.
We should be very proud of our pub team bought from aldi.

Very nice post Swiss and match my sentiments completely. 7th or 8th would have been taken at the start of the season. This season should give Chris and the players every confidence that promotion is possible in 2-3 years with the right backing.

We have the manager, the fans, the stadium and the players to some extent, however we're missing the sparkle or that "little bit more" which only money may buy.

Despite our horrendous play off record many of us felt that we would be a completely different animal under Wilder and on that basis were prepared to endure them again. Then of course you look at recent results and realise that maybe this team hasn't got quite as much bottle as we all thought?

It's been a terrific season whatever happens now. But with anything in life whenever the prospect of more is put in front of you and then don't get it [for whatever reason] well it can be a major disappointment, or you just have to accept that you never had it in the first place. It all depends on your outlook. I am wavering between the 2 positions at the moment o_O I wasn't remotely arsed about going up this season until we found ourselves flying high at the top of the league, at which point I got a bit giddy even if only for a few weeks.

I think the players and management team have given their all, but fine margins really do seem to be amplified in this league and the experienced championship players know how to grind out the big games, something we don't yet do.

I don't blame the board either. The money that was available was provided and chucking more money at things doesn't guarantee anything. For every Mitrovic there is a Jordan Rhodes and Millwall haven't spent a great deal yet look at them now.

Anyway, it still isn't over for me. We have 2 huge games coming up and with the Brizzle game thrown in the mix as well...stranger things have happened.

I've got over yesterday's disappointment.
A good 4 mile run this morning helps.
It's our first season back after 6 years in the league 1 wilderness.
We're likely to finish in the top 10 and above the piggies!!.
Yeh it's been a disappointing 2nd half of the season but it's exceeded my expectations.
Let's get behind the lads as we always do in the last 5 games and see where it takes us!!. UTB. COYRAWW

I haven't

Stretch I don’t think it’s about bottle, we haven’t bottled it this season or last.

It’s true we’ve played badly in some games but perhaps hull and Barnsley apart, we’ve not failed to turn up

I think we’ve been inconsistent lately, again not down to bottle.

The summer is a chance for wilder et al to freshen things up now, as an example Billy was our main striker last season and now more of a bitpart, albeit with a good deal of goals. We’ve got many of these players. O perhaps next season we’ll see lavery and Clayton out and then add to Billy, Leon and Ched.

Wilder likes to do his business early and I hope that this happens, knowing what division we’ll be in sooner is the best thing all round

I think I'm more disappointed than I should be simply because of what Millwall are doing. Obviously we could still finish above them but to finish so far in front of them last season yet to finish below them this when they have spent less than us is something that is really bugging me.

Avoid defeat against Boro, and St Wendy's Day will fall on the 10th of April this year.

Maybe the wrong choice of words on my part Swiss but recently we have lacked composure in front of goal and concentration in defence. Add the odd goalkeeping brainfart in there and [it has to be said] a few dashes of bad luck and we are where we are.

Agree about the summer, a big window coming up. Get a quality keeper in [hopefully Jamal] a new LWB and 2 new strikers to go with Clarke and Billy, clearing out whoever isn't needed to make room.

Yeah that’s probably a better way to put it.

It'll be a much bigger achievement if we can be the city's top team next year.

Hopefully it's our board that gets their shit together and not theirs.

Me too. It shouldn't really but it does. Especially as I'm not genuinely fussed about most of their players.

You have to give them huge credit though.

My Leeds supporting mate has already paid up, he bet me they’d finish above us by more than five points.

I’m also confident my Piggy acquaintance will be £100 lighter within the next week :)

I feel exactly the same..all this praise on the team and CW but Harris and Millwall are likely to finish higher than us...it’s bugging the hell out of me too especially a I have some Millwall supporting friends!!

Not for long he won’t, they’ll get rid of him PDQ if they go up and he’ll be back with a Championship team at a heavily discounted price. We wouldn’t, would we.....:(

I hope not.

i posted something similar in the shoutbox earlier.. now i've slept on it (and stopped being a mardy arse) on reflection we have got where we are with essentially the same team as last season. a massive achievement.. what happens now is key.. someone has to decide whether we want to push on or sit back and enjoy mid table mediocrity for a while.. it's a bit disappointing considering where we were but bloody 'ell 2 seasons ago i refused to go to the last game with Madkins in charge i knew it would be embarrassing..

You cannot have a mindset of relaxing into midtable safety.
Think that way and you'll be relegated.
To achieve mid-table you have to be aiming for playoffs but happen to fall short.
