Defence definately needs strengthening....I expect our starting defence to look something like this (once Naysmith is back from Injury)

RB - Walker
CB - Morgan
CB - Killa
LB - Naysmith

Subs - Bromby, Turner

But I do agree we lack abit of something....

Unless Morgs starts one of his penalty give-aways runs, this looks like a pretty strong defence.

strong? It looks a decent line up, but bear in mind, Walker is not confirmed, naysmith is injured so we have 4 fit defenders. 1 gets a knock and were down then. Not strong at all!

RB: Walker, Bromby
CB: Kilgallon, Morgan
LB: Naysmith, Taylor

And I believe France can play across the back 4 and Treacey can play full back.

The following could be used:

RB - Walker (if he does come), Bromby, Brown, France
CB - Morgs, Killa, Walker (if he does come), Bromby, Speed (if he doesn't retire), Naysmith
LB - Naysmith, Taylor, Killa, Carney

That's discounting Geary as not playing for us again.

Foxy has given a more complete list. Though I have seen this group do some silly stuff, for the most part (playing to form) I do think it does provide a good base - I assume if Walker's return is denied we will go out and recruit. But not looking on the dark side, it is a good group for this division.

realisticaly with players out and if and butt's whos coming or not,
we havent got that freedom really.

its a good base, but it needs depth for it to be a strong defence imo.

Brown needs some work on at rb really

How are Wedgbury and Brown? Not seen them for myself.

I am wanting to get down to plenty of reserves matches this coming season, living in Dronfield and that.

I'd rather have actual defenders in the squad rather than makeshift ones like half of them to be honest.

The bottom line is, we currently have 5 recognised defenders. One of which won't be returning for a while. It's an area that we really need to bring more depth to.

It's not half of them, it's two! :)

I'm just saying we have more cover than people make out. We could do with strengthening though.

Kilgallon as left back could be argued as makeshift to be fair.

I'd prefer to bring in direct replacements rather than swapping people's positions all the time, personally. I don't think it's good for players.

If it was me, I'd be looking at Volz as a free agent to bring in at right back rather than Walker on loan. Fortune at Charlton (as rumoured) would be good cover at centre half and Carney could be used as cover for Taylor at left back until Naysmith returns.

Aparently he's got arthritis in his knee, so could well be finished. If it is true its sad cos i always liked him. BTW good shout Dazblade88 i reckon Volz would be good for us too

It was on sky sports news this morning that Harry Redknapp has confirmed Kyle Walker will be returning to Sheff Utd on loan for the season. I know its not been actually confirmed yet, but im pretty sure he's coming.
