The lad Brooks

Wolves 1st half tore them a new one, Milwall scored a nice goal, QPR they put 5 men on him and he still got away several times, Norwich did a turn from the gods and fluffed the finish.

So all in all sparks of genius in all those games.

My question is to you is 4 starts enough for an enigma like Brooks in a side trying to achieve back to back promotions?
We don't need "enigmas" we need consistency.

I would love to see Brooks starting but he's defensively weak and for every piece of brilliance he gives the ball away in a poor position at least once.

There's no doubting his talent on the ball but he doesn't yet bring enough to the team to merit a regular starting place.

So it's impact sub for me until there's no chance of us making the play offs.

If he’s struggling with his illness still and Wilder had no intention of bringing him on, which he obviously didn’t, why have him on the bench in the first place?

Just wondering- why would you say he had no intention of bringing him on?

On the latest evidence available, the Forest game, Brooks is miles away from being worth a start.
Yeah I wasn’t even considering form in my post, but as you say, his last outing he was poor.

I’m not sure why there is such a clamour to get brooks starting when he’s suffered such an illness. He needs to earn that right to start and looking at Leon, Clayton and Billy yesterday they all played well enough to be picked ahead of Brooks

For Cardiff I see no reason to start brooks ahead of them unless we need to change the style we’re playing

Personally I’d look at replacing Stevens with Lafferty after yesterday’s and recent performances from Stevens. This should be the change we need to make before looking at brooks coming in

And we need new young strikers this summer whether we keep Brooks or not. If we sell our most promising attacking player for the same value commanded by Gary Madine, what hope for an adequate replacement, never mind the future replacements for Sharp and Clarke?
if this if that calm down all of you
if i win the euromillions i’ll buy the team ;)

No, but he needs to earn his right to play
I haven’t clamoured for him to start, I think a player who can change a game like him should be getting more game time that’s all.

We had enough chances to win the game and I have no doubt that Brooks would have taken atleast one of those chances that Donaldson had been put on a plate.

I think on another day Donaldson would’ve also bagged those two chances

Had Big Jamal not been sent off then I think brooks would’ve had time to shine, so he was unlucky

Yesterday’s performance was a real wilder performance though and to be honest I wouldn’t change the personnel up front because of poor performances, maybe tactical changes but not through form

Don't worry, loads of teams will pay us over the odds so we can replace Sharp and Clarke - I don't think. Brooks is worth what the market says he's worth. I repeat - 6 Mil they can have him. Oh and GLTTL.
Sorry I'm just fed up with with people saying he's the next TC and worth 20 mil

“I think we should grossly undersell any quality prospect we produce just because I am just fed up with people with brains in their heads expecting 2018 market values for our players.

I saw him play not very well for 15 minutes against Nottingham Forest in the driving snow, whilst recovering from Glandular fever. 28 year old cement mixer Gary Madine is worth as much in my mind, which, by the way is stuck in 2008.”

You can blame the pitch, sending off, missing sitters, glandular fever, even Madine being worth £6m, but the bottom line is we won't win many games between now and the end of the season and we'll miss out on the play-offs if we don't play him. Take anyone of Leonard, Lundstram, Sharp, Clarke, Donaldson and is anyone going to tell me Brookes isn't going to add a bit of extra spark than any of them. Fuck me.

Other than fucking you, I like the sound of that post. :)

Brooks didn’t warm up so I’m not sure he would’ve ever had the chance to come on.

Agree about the performance but you have to take the chances presented to you on the day, not another day.

You also said earlier that he needed to earn his right to play, well how is he going to earn that right when some of the players who are starting aren’t earning the right yet they get played all the time? He has to be given a chance and through the season I think he’s earned that right anyway.

Remember Brian Deane having it for a month or so, he got fit and started the next available game, no fuckin about with the bench for several weeks. Happened to be the Pigs at home and he smashed them to fuckin pieces. Maybe Brooks has a different version?
Deano didnt feel well in the days leading up to the 2-1 defeat at Oldham on 7th Sept 1991, despite scoring when we had 9 men on the pitch. Was out of action for 10 weeks (not for just a month!!) returning to action for the Wendy game

He nearly collapsed after he scored

I do worry we won’t ever really see Brooks in a red and white shirt. Don’t want to sound pescemistic but I’d be surprised if he’s here come August

We do need to try a 5 3 2 1 with Brooks and Duffy either side of Sharp

You mean like we did with Calvert-Lewin?

Brooks was on the bench before he got GF and he's on the bench after. He comfortably managed 90 minutes for Wales. It's pretty obvious that Wilder doesn't want to start him.

If we want to improve the squad the only way of adding funds is through selling the only real saleable asset

It certainly won't come through the boardrooms deep pockets
