I liked Sun. Thought he looked a decent player. Before Naughton broke into the team he was our right back last season. Now we've got rid of all 3.

Bromby played there last night:eek:

Mainly because he wanted to go back to China.

As I keep reminding people, Brombs got player of the year in that position.

a) Because he was probably on very high wages (came from the Prem) and hardly played a game after Naughton broke into the team

b) Because he wanted to go back to China

Yeah but that was then, he's a step backwards in my opinion, only to be used as cover

He was immense that season, but I sadly don't see the same player anymore.

I think the team has moved on since them days too, and as someone said, Bromby is now a step backwards.

I would love him to come good again though, but I just don't see it.

Released, free to roam the forests with his cousin the majestic panda. Moving with surprising grace through the bamboo, pausing only to fart in the general direction of a film crew and bare his mighty fangs in the traditional territorial display of the ex-Premiership footballer.
Occasional glimpses of this rare beast, the Chinaman who actually did more for United than flog a few shirts in the Far East, can still be had as he makes his nest in the forest from old copies of the Green 'Un, wrapping himself carefully in his prized Bob Booker duvet cover and a half-chewed bench coat.
His predecessor, Li Tie was sadly shot by poachers in 2008, mistaken for a rare dragon. Hao Haidong is still missing, sadly never returning from his trip to find the source of the Desun River high in the Himalayas. Rumours of them both being eaten by a fat grizzly bear from Bury as part of a bizarre initiation ceremony are untrue.
The likelihood of further exotic imports from China, highly prized but ultimately as much use as underpants for fish cannot be discounted.

So you keep saying. Doesn't mean he's any good in it now though.

Or should we try to sign Lineker, Maradona and Pele as well? ;)

Okay then, we'll pretend he's never played in the position and its totally unrealistic to expect him to play there as everyone appears to think :)

Bromby has only been signed permanently because Halford didn't.

Look at them both. Tall. Big throw-inists. Gangly. Liberal users of hair "product".
But it doesn't stop there. Several ladies of my acquaintance have pointed out that both Halford and Bromby are, well, easy on the eye. Some have even stated that they'd happily swap other half for either player.
So that's why Bromby has been signed.

He's also a good right back too. Certainly good enough for this division.

Yes, Bromby IS good enough for this division. It just smarts that we've had 3 utterly fantastic right-backs grace the hallowed turf since then - all of which are good enough for the Premiership. So when we go back to a player who is "only" good enough for the Championship it seems like we're taking a step backwards - which, of course, we are and nobody can deny that. But making out like that's us finished is probably a little melodramatic.

Come on Brombs, recommence the touchline Brombardment again and start bagging some goals again. You can do it, son. Might even get a sponsorship deal with GHD or American Crew or someone! :D

Not really - as backup, he's fine. As permanent fixture, he's not - as he proved under Robson.

I still maintain that he's the reason that Keef's legs went, as he had to track back so much when he'd gone missing!

nothing better than a back up defender in my eyes, would not have him in my starting back 4, a new right back (unless we get walker back on loan) and central defender are still required in my eyes

I still laugh at the free kick Bromby took against Birmingham I think it was....

What a cracker :)

Sounds like Walker will be back on loan for next season anyway.

That's the RB problem sorted then. Walker 1st choice, Bromby back up... we got paid a sh*t load plus we can still play Walker... everyone's a winner!

I've just laughed out loud at work thinking about that! :D

Now everyone's looking at me thinking i'm a freak :(
