Spent 2/3rds of season being too defensive & playing his mates.Paying for it now & running out of players! For me I still believe he should have gone in Nov.Was told he put his Notice in then but BR refused it?”

Gior, Clough playing his favourites? Well I never

Same old story as at United. Clough (who I quite liked at times) does himself no favours by being completely unambitious. Fans will forgive a lot and can take a defeat if they see their team trying to win games. Playing one upfront and bringing defenders on when you’re losing just screams of a lack of imagination. It’s bizarre considering that he was such a creative player.

I might be alone, but I like Clough - well, at least I don't have any ill will towards him.

He was too negative, and made some questionable decisions but he provided some great entertainment in the cups and brought us Basham, Freeman, Coutts and technically Brooks too.

He was OK at first, 10 games without conceding, FA cup semi final, league cup semi final...............

What happened to him?

"Duffy set both goals up again tonight. Wasn’t good enough for us apparently. Too lazy and didn’t live close enough to Burton.”

The amount of goals that Duffy has a direct or significant contribution towards is staggering.

Hands off, Pep!

Yep, he simply makes everything happen.

If he was 3 or 4 years younger he would be the one who we would be most worried about losing in the summer, not Brooks.

Burton looked like a mid table side who needed a talisman, I’m really surprised how poorly they’re doing because I’ve seen plenty of sides who look like they should be lower than them but the league table doesn’t lie, although I’m very surprised how well the pigs are doing. :D

Heard a bloke saying to his mate after the game "Duffy got MOTM, how did that happen?"

Just shows that despite watching the same game as me, some people clearly see something different. Great little controlled lay off for Baldock from the throw-in for the first goal, beautifully weighted through ball to Brooks for the second, a moment in the first half where he got the ball under pressure in the middle of the park, quick feet and he's past 3 players and then plays a great ball to the wing - there's no pleasing some folk!

We know all about Clough bringing on defenders when losing don't we, feel for their fans having to watch that shite. To be fair we have seen worse sides than Burton come to the lane look what they did at S6 .................... I never did like Negative Nigel so glad we got rid of the boring cunt.

Glad someone mentioned the bit where he took 3 of their players out of the game, it was bloody marvellous and certainly got me on my feet applauding him. He is sublime at times.

I remember Clough bringing on a defender when we were losing at home, put Freeman on right mid and he scored.

I know how you feel and it is frustrating, but it's been going on for years.

The minute we get a player who shows exceptional ability and skill, there have always been those who expect them to turn it on every game and, if not, in their eyes they've had a shit game.

I remember once saying to a mate, " It's got to the stage where if TC doesn't run the length of the pitch juggling the ball on his knee, beat 6 players then smash it into the roof of the net, a lot of our crowd will say he's had a poor game "

Duffy and Brooks are the latest victims of that syndrome ( the latter not tonight, but you watch if he doesn't have an absolute blinder in his next game )

Plus ca change, plus ca la meme chose Rodney.

Can’t see that Clough did too much wrong tonight. His team can’t finish for toffee and that’s why they’ll most likely be relegated. But tonight they were the better side right up until they saw the goal in front of them.

That said, his 4-5-1 method is something I’m relieved to see the back of. We used to play that at home in Div1 for heaven’s sake.

I don't get frustrated, I just think that anyone who doesn't realise that Duffy is and has been a great player for us, knows fucking nothing about football. I find common traits to these fans are that we should constantly 'gerrit foward', any player that doesn't smash into tackles at the first opportunity is 'nesh' any player that tries a pass that doesn't quite come off is 'fucking useless' and in agreement with your post, if some players haven't scored a hat-trick, they've played crap. :D

Good old FLN.

Not even good enough for Burton.

Reading that warms my heart.
