13.10 Skysports.com understands Tranmere Rovers full-back Andy Taylor is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to Sheffield United.

Any comments anyone, is he rated at £5mill+ like the player he's replacing???
 



Came through Blackburn academy, capped at u19 and u20 level. Got their supporters player of the year award.

Will want first team football, as he went to Tranmere to guarentee that.

Errr, he's a LEFT-back. Not quite sure how that makes him a replacement for a RIGHT-back. :rolleyes:

More likely signed as cover/stand-in for the injured Naysmith!
 
It's great that everyones written him off before he's played a game though, infact, before he's even signed :)

I guess the comments would have been the same about Naughts & Walker though from those who hadn't seen them in the reserves?
 
I have not seen or heard anything of this player so i obviously cannot judge. It makes sense to sign and up and coming player as we will have Naysmith back at some point before xmas and one would expect him to be first choice.

Reminds me of the Ward signing a bit too.....

I don't much about about him. But let's give him a chance :).
 
If he signs then he should be given as much chance to impress us as a Star signing. Hopefully he will be able to make the step up to the Championship.
 
Skysports.com understands Tranmere Rovers full-back Andy Taylor is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to Sheffield United.

The Championship club are looking for new signings as Kevin Blackwell bids to construct a squad capable of winning promotion to the Premier League.

Blackwell currently has Glen Little and Julian Gray on trial and has now made a move to sign the highly-rated Taylor.

The 23-year-old joined Tranmere on a permanent basis from Blackburn Rovers in January 2008 after impressing during a loan stint.

He has made over 80 appearances during his time with Rovers, but could now be on his way to Bramall Lane.

Taylor, who has 12 months remaining on his contract with Tranmere, is discussing personal terms with the Blades and undergoing a medical.

Didn't Naughton play left back for the latter part of the season and Naysmith will be out for months yet so he would have probably carried on in that position had we not been selling him, would you agree??

Actually, no one's writing him off. They're saying that he's not as good as Naughton or Walker, whom it would be fair to say he's supposed to be replacing. This seems to be a fair assessment, given that the fee for him is anything between £100-£500k, and not several million pounds, and that he's coming to us and not Spurs, Villa or Everton...
 
Has anyone seen him play on a regular basis, or enough to share their opinion on him?

I don't know too much about him, so any information will be appreciated. :)

How the hell is replacing either of them? The kid is ALL left foot, has only ever played at left-back and presumably has been signed as a left-back, no doubt to slot in whilst Naysmith recovers. If he does well, Naysmith may well not get back into the team. I would even go so far as to saying that this piece of business would have been done even if both Kyles were staying, especially for £400K. KyleN playing there was only ever a stop-gap, post transfer window and would never have continued!
 
Can't see anything wrong with this, we need cover at left back and we've got it. I hope he does well.

It can't be true though, he's never played for Watford :D

That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it. I think it's mighty coincidental that we're in the frame to sign a full back right now though, when nothing has been mentioned about it since the season finished.

It is kinda 2+2=5 though. The timescale for Naysmith's return from his op could only really be measured over the last week or so. I'm pretty sure it's more linked to that issue than that of the special Ks. Like you said though; opinions! :)

I didn't pick anyone in particular out. If you look around though, most are already saying he's crap, or nowhere near as good as **insert player name here**... That he's bargain basement etc.

Naysmith is due for another consult on his injury very soon, but will still be out for a few months... Therefore its common sense to get in some cover/someone to play on the left. For me, it's a bonus that he's young and not rediculously priced.

Which other left backs should we be buying at the moment?
 
Sounds like a decent signing to me.
Young, good pedigree (England Under 19 / 20) and a reasonable price. I don't imagine he'll be on huge wages either. No risk really.

It makes sense to get some good cover in, especially with Naysmith out for the forseeable.

As Foxy (I think) asked earleir... what other left backs should / could we be buying???
 
Apparently he can take corners.

This alone makes him worth any money after Quinn, Cotterill and Howard's attempts :D

The rumours are we've paid £100k... not a bad bit of business as long as it isn't the only bit of business we're going to do.

we had a left back in naughton and cover with naysmith...
then suddenly we sign a full back when KN seems to be going.... seems fishy....

he's been brought in as a first team choice.... is he going to step up and fill KN boots?
