he's been brought in as a first team choice.... is he going to step up and fill KN boots?[/QUOTE]

I doubt it. Naughton's a Right Back, Taylor's a Left Back. Pretty sure the main reason is cover / competition for Naysmith... who is currently out injured!

we had a left back in naughton and cover with naysmith...
then suddenly we sign a full back when KN seems to be going.... seems fishy....

I think KN will take his boots with him:D

Theres nothing fishy about it, we accpeted a bid for KN, KN was filling in at left back whilst Naysmith was injured and he's out until at least Nov so we brought in a left back because we have no cover.

I suppose we'll bring in another league 1 defender if Kyle Walker gets a bid and also if Killa gets a bid.

And we're also trialling keeper(s) in the event that Paddy gets band.

Perhaps the fish like smell comes from the fact that we pulled the plug on McIndoe, the Taylor signing came out of nowhere, Paddy has a ban looming, we're trialling wingers, we've not yet received any transfer money for Kyle and Kyle and we couldn't yet justify spending on another winger.

I am at a total loss as to the transfer strategy at the Lane, we are told weeks ago by MCcabe that we are not now a selling club and then while the manager,s away we wipe out our potentially most promising players K&K .We sell Beattie which possibly cost us promotion sign another Beattie probably one of the most inept players ever to play for us, then start to dismantle the accent on youth policy and replace with bottom league players . What the hell is going on??

Think, hope, Carney is our leftback untill Naysmith is fit. Carney is leftback in his national team and playing well at that position.

I hope he's not going to be our regular left back, he spends half the season away with OZ so we'd need another back up.

Plus the limited number of times he's played for us he's been crap.

A decent game against SFC is one thing but being a regular left back in the CCC .... completely different world

Good luck to Andy, I'm all for people being given a chance - lets hope he is a new 'kyle' ;)

Agreed... I've resigned myself to losing Naughton now so I hope Andy Taylor comes in and does a job.

I'm not expecting U21 level performances, but I hope he can do a solid job and anything more is a bonus

I think KN did a good enough job to stop at LB nemind filling in. he seems comfortable there so why change it?

was fishy of not having anything mentioned about full backs, then soon at the kyle bro's are maybe off... we have been looking for a while for one...

Welcome to the site and thanks for the info :)

Any particular traits to him? I notice he supposedly take a lot of your dead balls, decent delivery/shot on him?

Alright fella, good to have the info...

Out of interest whats your feeling about the club for selling a young talent especially as you just missed out on play offs last year.

If you've spent much time on here then you'll see opinions are split of the Blades Management and board for accepting bids for Young Kyle Naughton.

It'd be good to get an opinion of another club doing the same with a team from the league above.

Do you feel the club should've done more to keep him or did you think you were powerless against the pull of the division step up

I could slag off the signing of Taylor as just us getting the cheap option, but don't forget we have a decent record of signing players from the lower leagues and them coming good.

The main factor in reserving any judgement on Taylor is that I haven't seen him play. Perhaps others could bear this in mind.

and don't forget we have an even better record of signing shit!

My Friday morning selective dyslexia read that as "singing shit" :D

Was gonna say... speak for yourself! :p

People are very quick to judge players that have never seen play in the red and white, whether they are new signings or not. But a young player, bought cheaply and probably on small wages is a low risk gamble.

Good point well made young un!

In all honesty, yes. He's just not managed to cut it for us, whether that's due to luck, a lack of skill, or anything else. A striker who neither scores regularly nor sets up others to score regularly is neither use nor ornament. And I like the lad!

And would Billy been quite as sh*t if we'd only paid 230k for him instead of 2.3m?

Yes in terms of being on the pitch... but as all fans now seem to be club accountants as well as supporters, they would point out that the money could have been spent elsewhere i.e. wages and transfer fees which would make BS's transfer less of a risk.

But is it me or has Jamie Ward not done the same?

Billy
Games 21(6)
Goals 6
Assists 2

Jamie
Games 7(9)
Goals 2
Assists 1

Neither were prolific, I like them both but they both wasted chances and in Billy's favour he was playing mainly when the team were awful. This could also go against him as he could be partly to blame for us being awful

Sorry to go off thread ....

Henderson, Sharp and Ward. 51 of the appearances are Sharp, who's scored 8.

Ha fantastic! Perhaps someone passed those stats to Blackie before the McIndoe deal and it collapsed it when he realised that we aint got a striker that can score...

Ha, I hope you're right. It's been my biggest concern since Beattie left, I'm praying this Evans deal can go through.

We need 2 strikers at least.

I'd be happy with just 1 that can score!

I hear Blackies got scouts at the masters this weekend

Alright mate

Although I'm disappointed that hes gone , I cant say as I'm surprised.

The club desperately need money at this moment of time , so the board must have snapped at this opportunity , although 100k may not be alot to you , it can make a world of a difference to us

I'm not to concerned as we have another great young talent who playes in Andy's position , Aaron Cresswell

He had been putting pressure on Andy since Christmas , and even took his place on the odd occasion , so it will be nice to see him playing regularly

One again , all the best next season ;)
