When Billy starts....

Billy has never been fast and that’s more apparent as he gets older but boy can he finish!
Great game last night, hopefully more to come.
I think Billy had a bit more pace when he first hit the scene, but he kept tweaking his hamstrings and so he learned to play within himself.

If anything that may have helped him, I think he probably focussed more on his positional sense and technique.

I’m still baffled as to why he didn’t play against the pigs.. it was made for him to come on that night, shit decision from wilder..

In fairness to Wilder, he did say that on reflection he got his subs wrong for that one and should have brought Sharp on.

"When Billy starts....." (just as long as Duffy AND Fleck start as well) then we win games..............

seen all this before with Edwards.. fat lazy all he does is score.. yeah the hard bit
i must have posted this a hundred times.. my apologies

Huge Jake wright fan but would love to know the stats when he has been taken off. Like at Hillsborough etc.

How many times has the lad been substituted?

The general reason CW takes Wright off is to move to a 4 at the back - happened quite a few times last season and a few this.

Form memory we went to a 4-3-3 at swillsboro when Wright went off.

Remember specifically at Fleetwood last season Wright went off 2nd half when we went to 4 at the back and we pushed on that much that day, it was actually only 2 at the back as Freeman and Hussey still played like wingbacks.

It shouldn't b e forgotten that Sharp has been on the bench for a long period - he should be extremely fit for the run in - perhaps this has been CW's plan all along to give Billy a long rest and leave him for the run in.

Got a feeling now, he will be back as a first choice pick.

We now have a team that once again picks itself and as long as people stay fit the "what team for ............" will become superfluous.

The same applies to Duffy - he has in effect had a few games off, although slightly different to Billy, but probably for the same reasons.

The main question now is how long Clarke is out for and who comes in up top.

We didn’t change formation. Basham went back into the back three from memory but by that time I was three sheets to the wind and drinking some sparkly

I can see that being Donaldson. He’s the fittest of the other options available, was perhaps unfortunate not to come back in following the Norwich game, and had he not picked up his injury on his debut you’d have expected him to have had a run up front with Sharp given how the Sunderland game went. My only concern with that is that I’m yet to see Donaldson play particularly well in the home games he’s been involved in. He’s been very effective away from home though.

Thought we did - had just gone to a 4-3-3 when the pigs scored the equaliser Baldock was in a 4 and screamed blue murder at Brooks for not covering wide.Brooks had just been put wide right in a 3 - or a 5 when defending. and didn't track back giving Reach loads of space on their left.

The stat is superficial since it doesn't consider the opposition or the other players around Sharp both of which are big factors in whether a game is won or not.

When the stats show that the oinkers have had no shots all game we are happy to accept that as gospel, in the same way that Wendy fans see 0-0 as a win for them.

yep, think Donaldson is the favourite - perhaps if he gets 2 or 3 games, then his match fitness may improve.

Whoever comes in, it will be difficult as Burton will park the bus.

It has been suggested we may play 2 no 10's so as to have a bit more guile round the 18 yard box which is an area where we have struggled.
