Don't know how to link to podcasts. Just google bbc Berkshire Sheffield United

Well worth a listen, full of praise for United and our fans, really got into their team which they deserved.

Apparently they've spent £20m on that sack of shit side, crazy!

Great listen that. How on Earth Stam in still there baffled me. If they sack him now that squad will stay up, and it would be another team to climb above the Pigs.

What an excellent programme. The interview with Stam wasn’t so much an interview as a conversation between mates. Stam comes across as very similar and yet totally different from Tufty. He is as honest and pragmatic as Chris is, but he seems to have had his emotions removed. I quite hope they have a good run in now - as we’ve done the double over ‘em already!

And all the local commentators agree that Reading fucked up on the third goal debate!

Suppose the only positive for Reading fans is the grounds man might be in their line up on Saturday.

Do you know, I find it quite refreshing that they haven’t sacked him. They did well last season and there is often a downward season after a play off defeat. I hope they keep him and they stay up

That is a good point. Most clubs would have got rid by now so I suppose sticking with a guy is a nice change.
But it does incteasingly look like last season was a flash in the pan and they are in a precarious place.

If being honest, I think trying to play football the way they do, against us in those conditions he needs to have a long hard think. Any team pressing high against them are forcing mistakes

Another example where splashing money recklessly doesn't prove beneficial And yet, with the exception of Martin, Martin and possibly Barrow, how many would get into the Utd 18? Not many IMHO

Thanks for that, a good listen.

In fairness to them I'd forgotten how many players they had out. McShane, Barrow, Aluko, Swift, Kermogant, etc.

Very honest and non defensive Stam in the face of some of those questions.

I've not listened to it.... But cash anyone confirm if there is a Reading version of Brian the Blade out there?

He was. I thought you meant any of their players.

I'm sure a couple of others (e.g. Aluko) would get into Utd's 18 if you were to consider all of Reading's pros but even then, that's not many considering Stam has spent ~£20m.

The same would go for the Massive - how many of their expensively bough and handsomely paid superstars would you want in our squad? A couple (Hooper, Lee) at most?

Cardiff spunked 6 million on a washing machine named Madine, has not scored for them yet.

When we play Cardiff I suspect the c***t will though.

How much better is that than the contrived durge served up by Radio Sheffield? Open, honest, critical, subjective - a good listen but I'm sure not a pretty one for Reading supporters.

Was an interesting listen. I have to say I was amazed at how critical they were - not the fact that they were critical, just how blunt and emphatic they were in their criticism. Especially to Stam! When the guy straight-out says to him "your team selection was baffling", I thought "crikey, steady on". And basically walking Stam into admitting that he wasted a place on the bench because one of their subs wasn't fit enough to even come on for a few minutes.

I wondered if this was a result of the fact that Radio Berkshire have no other team within miles and their coverage is solely focused on a single team - so they can really go all-out and not pull any punches. Radio Sheffield covers about six local teams and are constantly tiptoeing around accusations of bias towards one / against another. I mean, if I'd heard a Radio Sheffield journo asking Wilder questions as pointedly as the Reading guy was to Stam then I think it would get my back up.

And yeah as others have said, from an outsider's perspective it's nice to see that they haven't sacked Stam. Reading overachieved massively last season (based on stats, not just my opinion) and that was highly unlikely to sustain itself into this year - especially with their injuries. That Kermogant scored a ton last year and I think he's barely played this season.
