Five questions The Prince needs to answer

I agree with your point on investment being seen from both sides. My point is, the expected level of investment hasn't arrived upon promotion to The Championship and that was the pledge made by the Saudi side.

As far as McCabe's commitment to the cause: I thought he did still live in Belgium and he doesn't miss too many games. Again, my main point is, I'd rather have an owner who demonstrably cares. Some just focus on the cash, which is fair enough - as long as 'the cash' is there in the quantity expected.

Point taken, though at the minute all the whisperings are one way – there may be elements we don’t know for why that hasn’t materialised, and I for one am happy that’s not being aired in public channels.

Re: McCabe and Belgium, I thought he basically held his hands up in 2016 around the time Adkins was removed that he’d perhaps taken his eye off the ball partly because he was based in Belgium, but that him moving back was allowing him to have a more hands-on role. Think that was made at some corporate event before the sacking.

6. Did you really have your bottom ribs removed so you could suck yourself off, or was that just an urban myth going round at Bradfield school in 1997?

Or is this about Abdullah?

1.why do we have shit toilet paper in’t bogs?

Come on Princey. Sort it aht.

The answer to all those questions is totally irrelevant,
So with respect, they aren’t very good questions as they would prove very little.

All I want to know are his intentions for SU, short term and long term
Why did he buy a club in Belgium and how does it link (if any) to SU.
Does he have finance in place and how much (roughly).
Remember his personal finance isn’t that important, he may have loads of investors.

I share the OP's concern.

I like the idea that custody and stewardship of our club is in the hands of a local person, a person with an affinity to the club and arguably less motivated by financial gain and investment return.

If the Prince is in this for nothing other than business investment, I would be very worried.

I know I am not alone in feeling extremely apprehensive at the prospect of Prince Abdullah taking control of OUR club. While, we’ve had ups and downs (pun intended) under McCabe, he has always acted with The Blades’ best interests at heart and moved the club forward – albeit not at the speed intended.

We are now faced with an individual, with no local or cultural ties, taking over with, as far as it’s possible to tell, little or no knowledge of English football – indeed a greater interest in the American version.

When he came on board in 2013, it was with the remit of funding our return to The Premier League, within 5 years. That could still happen but, if it does, it won’t be on the back of ‘think Liverpool’ bankrolling. That’s not to say ‘game changing investment’ would have guaranteed a rapid rise to the top – as our neighbours have proved – but it is what he was brought on board to provide. We were told that major investment would arrive once we returned to The Championship. Well, we did but it didn’t.

This could lead one to speculate that The Prince is far more interested in what he can make out of OUR club in the event of an under-funded promotion to The Premier League than he is in our longer term best interests.

In the absence of serious cash, we may have hoped for some support in respect of commercial expertise or sponsorship. As far as I am aware, there has been no significant contribution in either area.

The Prince’s advisors have been similarly underwhelming. Jim Phipps, for all his good, PR intentions, was never going to cut it when the natives became restless. Selahattin Baki got us a friendly with Fenerbache but little else of note. More recently, it seems, The Prince was given short thrift when he tried to impose Jan Van Winckel on the Technical Board.

Finally, and most bewilderingly, he announces his purchase of a Belgium club just before confirming his desire to take control of The Blades.

So, I am left feeling very uncertain as to what value ‘our Prince’ has added to our club and where his future priorities really lie. To help clarify the situation, I would like answers to the following questions:

1. How much has The Prince invested in the club since our return to The Championship?

2. When was his last significant financial contribution to the club?

3. What is The Prince’s current personal net worth?

4. How many Blades games has The Prince attended since 2013?

5. Would The Prince choose to watch The Blades away at Reading on a cold February night or the 49ers in The Superbowl?

The Star will be on the ball and have the answers tomorrow...

6. Did you really have your bottom ribs removed so you could suck yourself off, or was that just an urban myth going round at Bradfield school in 1997?

Or is this about Abdullah?

Didn't need to.

Where's Bradfield?

The swallow remark was meant to be added to the list of your questions btw.
Stop backtracking... you were sussing me out. Cheeky..!

Someone local is likely to see us plodding along with one of the lower budgets in the league.
However someone who is in it for profit is more likely to spend big and risk getting us into the PL.

That's a fair point but is it a risk worth taking? What price the soul of the club?

McCabe stated to Gidds at the Octogan that he would be moving on and likely before he turns 70. (I'm not sure how close he is to 70 but said it in a way that made it seem not far off!).
So he's on his way - one way or another soon and the local owner being in charge scenario is not looking very likely going forwards...

He’s 70 in April.

Exactly this and the thought that anybody feels there* entitled to ask these questions even on a forum is more than just a little cringeworthy.

Yes he is, he stated as much from the off and just so people don't forget I've repeated it so many times here that I should be on his payroll.

* yeah i know.

If everyone's so sceptical about our co owner of a few years taking over, just wonder how much of a shit storm would occcur here if someone we'd never heard of from China or Thailand was heading a consortium to take us over?
