Stearman...

Fair play to him. Knuckled down and despite a shaky start has really made the position his now.

Nothing will change the fact that IMO Wright did nothing to deserve dropping in the first place, but take nothing away from Stearman as for the last half dozen games he's been outstanding. It's his shirt to lose.

Tin hat time, oh dear where do I start.

You used 'shaky' but not in relation to Jake Wright.

You mentioned Wright was playing okay and didn't deserve to be dropped.

Despite the common sense sentiment that Stearman is now playing very well, His Pinchyness will be all over this, calling you from a pig to a dog.

I'll take that and stand by it :) His Pinchyness would be over no matter what.

On a similar note I also don't think Blackman deserved dropping either, but since Moore has come back he's played really well and earned the shirt well and truly. The past few weeks he has been outstanding.

There was a period of stabilizing for both though, which supported the Wright and Blackman arguments - no doubt about that. Stearman took a while but is now going from strength to strength, his lack of pace is no longer getting caught out like it was before and that's due to the other 2 learning more about his game as much as Richard picking his game up.

Big test on how far we've come tonight though. Stearman had a bit of a nightmare at Villa (it was his last poor game I can think of) and I think he'll be doubly determined to put it right.

As I and others were trying to explain all along Stearman and Moore are a better class of player than Wright and Blackman. This is not a criticism of the latter, the other two are better players, that's all. If we bought Kane it would be bye bye Leon, same analogy and same angst among many of our supporters.

Would make a better captain than Clarke in my eyes
I don't like players up top as captains to be honest. I like them to be rallying leaders at the back or in midfield.
That said Wilder has picked Clarke for as reason, he doesn't seem a big personality like Sharp or Stearman but as always I bow to the man's better judgement.

It might just be me but it could be the new contract, however since he has become captain his intensity seems to have dropped off a tad. I don’t think it suits him to have to think about others in a game, but like you said who are we to argue.

Well said. I respect you for that. Nice reference to ‘shaky’ as well...

You see cricketers form drop all the time when they are made captain, ok they have more to do and it's a different sport but Clarke seems a free spirit to me, let him just concentrate on his game.
Give the captaincy to a leader at the back who would be shouting and organising whether he was captain or not.
All that said, I don't like keepers being captain either.

Actually ‘respect’ is a bit too formal and standoffish and often used as faint praise. I meant ‘admire’.

That’s all you’re getting though. I have a reputation to maintain...

Has JOC let Hogan out of his pocket yet? Someone said Stearman may get exposed tonight. He did. Exposed as being absolute colossus.

Stearman for the 90 minutes, was MoM for me. With Baldock and evens abit behind. As for Stevens, fuck me, brains of a donkey, letting Snograss go onto his left, Need to bring in better quality of player in the summer.
