Ched future?

If anything I'd say yesterday he looked a bit too desperate. Same when he played vs. Leicester early on in the season. Doing a bit too much headless chicken running and when the ball comes his way he needs more composure. I'm sure the guy is absolutely desperate to impress but he needs to settle down. I wish Sharp had been subbed yesterday before the penalty so he could've smashed that in.

I really want the guy to do well, and I really want a chance to fall for him, goal or not, just to see if he still has that thunderbolt shot on him. Look, there's no room for sentimentality when picking the team, and if he's not a better option than the other strikers then he won't get game time and that's fair enough. Still, he cost us pennies relative to this division and whatever happens it's a decent gamble.

If there's any justice in the world then he'll have smashed in one in front of the Kop before he moves on from United.

Couldn’t have typed it out better myself.

I’d like to see Ched do well and make an impact. When he came on yesterday I had big expectations but he didnt stand out as a player that would/should push others out of the starting xi. He needs time on the pitch but at this point in the season there isnt time to spare. At the end of the day in Wilder we trust and if he plays him he plays him. UTB
He has just had an operation on his ankle.

I’m not saying he’s currently out best striker, that would be stupid.
I’m saying that if all our strikers returned to their best form then Ched is easily the best striker.
However of course expecting Ched to return to his previous form is a tall order and some say unrealistic.

Don’t see how anyone calm and neutral can deny that Ched is potentially the best striker at the club.

I still say that apart from Deane I’ve never seen a better striker at the Lane.
He was so much better than league 1 standard that he stood out like a sore thumb, he was better than Jordan Rhodes in his prime.
Agree though that his top class form was for only 6 months, the other 2.5 years he was generally average.

Some would rightly say that Ched is old, so can’t expect too much but we have plenty of older players and older strikers who are performing reallly well, best form of their lives.

Also some would rightly say his body is ruined and can’t handle top class football but one could argue that whilst in prison his body was being rested and he hasn’t got the wear and tear of an normal football career. Suppose we’ll see, anything could happen really.
Billy Sharp does not get a mention regarding his league one exploits.

I’m by no means a ‘ched loyalist’ if he isn’t good enough then he shouldn’t play end of. Yesterday however, he was a million times more effective than Clayton, he created space with his movement and attacked the ball in the air rather than waiting for it.
Clayton did have 2 men on him when every ball was played up, but ched’s Movement made them less effective against him.

Never. Where have I been all season. I was merely saying that he needs time on the pitch to get back up to speed. We all know about his ankle and I’m sure most of us want him to do well.

Matter of opinion and I’m not alone

I genuinely think you are. Even evans’ best mates wouldn’t think he should start on Tuesday!

A futile argument ofcourse because he categorically won’t, but it’s evident you are watching with Ched-tinted glasses of you genuinely think he should start on Tuesday! Sharp scored last match, Wilson and Donaldson scored last league match and Clarke is the top scorer in the champ but no, you’re right, let’s pick Evans who hasn’t scored for a year!

Thought I’d win you round lol

Thats why you're sat at home and wilder is a football manager..no way do you drop any of our strikers for the villa game..fcks sake pal
zzzzzzzzzz you’d look a proper F****** idiot now though if he was in the starting line up

So if he isn't in the starting line up does that make you a fucking idiot then?
Nope because he’s not expected to start I’m only saying I would like see him start. Please have the decency to edit out the swear words be a shame to get banned

And there’s a good reason that Sharp isn’t compared to Ched whilst playing in league 1.

Sharp was purely a finisher, great finisher mind, a preditor that needed setting up to be effective.
Where as In those final 6 months Ched didn’t need setting up, he was creating his own chances and was easily the stand out player of league 1. He was a better striker than Jordan Rhodes in his prime.

Also I’m far from a Ched loyalist, never rated him for 2.5 years and still feel a uncomfortable that he saved his best form just as his contract was up for renegotiation (what a coincidence). However since the late 70’s only Brian Deane has impressed me more.

Interesting about only Deano impressing you more. What about Michael Brown in our triple assault season? Bearing in mind he was playing a higher league and was smashing in goals left right and centre from midfield?

Wilder will be able to pick his team based on how he can exploit the opposition best .If he thinks Ched & Billy or Leon & Donaldson/Wilson are best suited they start .If Ched or anyone isn't producing they wont play .Its great CW 2 or 3 options throughout the team to adapt the system whether it be defence mid or attack .Maybe drop Brooks in with Duffy if we can't open a team up with big Ched and Wilson if we need a goal with 15 mins to go . 2nd place is achievable. That's what we should be aiming for .

Evans had one good season in the third division.
Don't know the stats but I would think Sharp has scored a lot more goals at a higher level than Evans.
We've had many strikers who've been more impressive than Evans since the 70s merely by scoring goals at higher levels of football.
