Tomorrow's likely team if none were cup-tied, call it second choice team ( plus a couple) perhaps.:

Blackman, Basham, Wright, O'Connell, Thomas, Lundstram, L.Evans, Lafferty, Holmes, Sharp, Donaldson.

Assume good cover in the rest of the squad.

What a team!! How far we have come!!

who cares. that is the kind of attitude the snortbeasts have.

That's not our cup team because L.Evans and Holmes are cup tied.

Whatever our second string is, it would be close to the top of L1 for sure. Rapid progress. To think we spent all those years with a first team that couldn't get close...

Ched might start with Billy eh?

Wouldn’t get near Wigan in League 1 currently but it’s a very good second string.

The OP makes a good point about our strength in depth.

Doubt we’d finish top 2 but I’m confident our second string would easily reach the play-offs.
It does demonstrate how far we’ve come and what a great job Wilder has done.

Normally I wouldn’t be bothered about going tomorrow to see our second string play Preston
But i’m keen to see our second string and new signings, so I bought some tickets yesterday.

As we're not in League 1 I'm more concerned whether our second string are good enough for the Championship because that's their role.

I do agree though that all concerned deserve huge credit for building this current squad so quickly with our resources.

Agree 'all concerned' and how much more satisfying it must be for the owners to know their money will be well spent rather than wasted.

Nobody even knows what our 'second string' is really do they?

I'd be interested to see what everyone's best perceived second string is. I bet you'd barely get two line ups the same.

Mine currently would probably be...

Blackman
Leonard Wright Heneghan
Freeman Lundstram Carruthers Lafferty
Brooks Sharp Holmes

Either way, it would be top 3 minimum in L1.

My cup team for tomorrow

Blackman
Stearman Wright Lafferty
Basham lundstram Carruthers Thomas
Duffy
Sharp Donaldson

Sheffielder. Very good shout Lafferty at the back.

Maybe Carruthers isn't in the picture any more.

Presume Holmes, L.Evans and Leonard are cup-tied. I actually think Slater will play.

Is Freeman fit yet? Loads of permutations - there lies the point of the thread.

C.Evans - perhaps not for a while.

I think Leonard and Holmes are ' main liners' by the middle of February.

Possibly, and Brooks. This is why it's basically impossible to definitively name any 'second string'. We have players currently out of the team who seem likely to get into it. It's a very competitive squad indeed. A lot of good players of similar ability.

Brooks, Duffy and Holmes are the 'special ingredients' that every team needs and we have cover now.

I think/hope Leonard and L.Evans are a step-up on what we have already apart from Fleck.

I hope Wilson is an equivalent 'step-up' in the striker department, time will tell, but I really like watching Donaldson.

Freeman and Baldock battle it out for a place which is what is happening everywhere on the pitch. Since Vickers left the back 3 has less competition but when Wright is the next best option who cares?

Well covered at keeper x3 too.

We are well in this promotion race, that's for sure. And yes, we would have finished top 2 with our second string in L1. All within a short 18months:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool: BTW it's just another measure of our progress this Cup Week.

Reckon we'd score for fun with any two of Billy, Donaldson, Wilson, Ched and Clarke.

Whichever our 'second string' would be, they'd get 50 between them.

Witj the new and the old midfield, or a combination of the two, yes sir!
