We're back on track

Good to get back to winning ways, a point would have been decent with our recent form so a win is fantastic.

Hopefully this will be the start of a good run and we can really make a serious play-off challenge.

Cracking result, but I think it's important not to get carried away with the win. They are a side that have not long since come off the back of a gruelling game against Chelsea & will be feeling it. We were on the back foot for the last 20 minutes or so which is a slight concern, but a win is a win.

Our next 3 games are huge!

Home to Villa
Away at Wolves
Home to Leeds

Pick up 5/6 points from this lot, and I think were in a superb position for the play offs & then our season will be back on track IMO.

Good result today though blades! More of the same please.

Leeds had another player sent off today, so that's two suspended for our game.

I was very surprised when I saw the starting XI. Bold from Wilder to start 3 of the new players. Especially when 2/3 of the midfield was new. I would have thought it would take a few weeks for them to get into the way we play, but it paid off. Well done Chris.

fantastic result, but.....
let's not get all 'massive' , we've won 1 game, if we come out of the next 3 games with a couple of wins and a draw then yes, but if we loose 2 and draw one where are we then?
leave the billy big bollox after 1 match to the unclean.

My thoughts exactly steve26272 one win are form really hasn't changed yet, it's now going to be an almighty struggle with the rest of the top 10 till the end of the season and that's just for a play off place. 2 more wins and we can start feeling safe!

We've lacked a bit of energy of late, and last season Duffy was either taking breaks or coming off at 60 minutes, so while I hope at least one of the signings offers an outright improvement to the first eleven, simply being able to rotate and rest players will give us a huge boost for the run in.

7 points behind automatic after our dismal run of results post-Burton is amazing when you think of it. Anyone not thinking we still have a chance of that 2nd spot needs to take a chill pill. For starters - are Cardiff City better than us?

Making those signings will be the turning point for our results I think.

It's not only depth and competition for places, I think at least one will improve the starting 11.

Evans looks like the Coutts replacement, for a start.

I don’t rate Leeds either. They’ve only ever gone on a run when playing teams lower down the league and they rely very heavily on Saiz, who, as you say is missing.

Cooper was the one to be sent off today. Who is probably their main centre half.

Every team has its 'blips' (Wednesday's goes back to August 2017...). Wolves haven't won in three (including the FA Cup), Bristol City haven't won in six (including FA Cup and Carabao Cup), Cardiff have only won one in the last six League games (including a pitiful draw with Wendy). We've only lost once in the last six League games - including a fine win at Norwich and creditable draws at Villa and Derby. Sandwiched between these League games are a fine win in the Cup at Ipswich - never an easy game.

Leeds fade in the second half of every season (and are dirty bastards).

The effect of our own 'blip' can be seen by the three 'form' teams (Fulham, Middlesbrough and Brentford) crowding in behind us.

Money to Wilder = Points

I think we have been wise in recruitment. CW will trim down the squad now.

Then in the summer we will be wanting more money.

It’s a tough gig for KM.

Well done and thank you to the board for investing in the team this transfer window.

I think we are back on track.

The squad is looking much stronger with the new names.

Plenty more where this result came from I think
Chris is a lucky lad!

One off results mean nothing.
Even crap teams win the odd game and the best teams lose the odd game.

For me it’s more about performance as that’s an indicator of where we heading,
And to be fair yesterday’s performance was excellent and very promising when you consider we had 3 new players in the team.
I predict we’re going to get better, so top 2 will be tough but is still not out of the question.
That’s not being Billy Bollox, that’s being logical and reasonable.
Agree about the next 3 games being really tough
I reckon we need a minimum of 6 points from those 3 matches, then kick on.

I know that it's a bit previous - but with our current team, if we did manage to scrape into the play-off final - would anyone consider giving it a miss because of our 'history' in those games?

Ooooh, I'm not sure. It'd be a choice of going and sitting in committed silence terrified for 90 minutes or simply not turning up. I'd have to flip a coin....

I like the way some automatically accept that players who have only been here a couple of weeks, some less, and have hardly had time to settle in properly wont improve on yesterdays game over the next few months...

No - I made that decision for the Udders game. I sat outside drinking beer until it was well over - put the TV on to get the result only to find that we were leading on penalties. Switched it off quickly and went back out really excited!!!

Better to be there and experience the kick in the bollocks live and with everybody else!

No Pain No Magic!

I think the top 4 now might be what it ends up being at the end.

And I think it'll be a fight between the next 7 for the last 2 play off spots.

I think our playoff history would go out the window under this manager and I'd fancy us to win it finally.

We have to start taking the chances we create. Not doing so has cost us many points. How many teams have we out played but either lost to or drawn? When you analyse the Norwich game we scored a scrappy opportunistic goal (Wilson) and a well taken goal by the Don from a Norwich mistake - poor back pass - so not a chance we created ourselves. Whilst it’s a great result I think it’s too early to say we are back on track. We need another Hull or Sunderland performance where we take our chances to convince me. Hope I’m wrong.

Post burton our run has been poor but arguably we have played a lot of the form teams.

You could argue there had been a couple of poor performances when we were deservedly beat (millwall and Preston) vut we’d been unlucky on others (Birmingham wonder goal for example)

After all we played villa (play offs), Derby (form side in division and 2nd), a resurgent and now free scoring Fulham, Bristol city (play offs - and unlucky to lose) and huge game against our local rivals.

With the reinforcements we now have a lot more strength in depth and can hopefully go on a one run of games where results match performances. And hopefully the midfield additions will allow us to get back to the rapid free flowing football we’ve been missing post coutts
