I think we'll go for Egan in the summer. He'll only have a year left on his deal. Shouldn't cost much more than £1.5m.

Unless there's a big departure there can' be much left in the kitty so it' another loan or nobody.

Harley Dean at Brum is still my choice and with them in the bottom three he.must be gettable ?

Is this the same kitty that meant we could only afford one permanent signing?

Doesn’t matter if he’s gettable if he’s already played for 2 teams

When Bash is coming forward with the ball and making overlapping runs, he looks awkward as fuck and is rarely effective.

Leonard has the tools, he has the engine, he has the speed. He could be Basham but 10x better going forward.

I don't see this as the optimal solution, but it's an option and I don't see why it wouldn't work. In the system we play the better going forward our wide centre halves are the more effective we'll be.

How good is it that we're talking about our centre halves like they're fucking wingers.

I was thinking exactly the same. For all Basham's energy and enthusiasm, he never seems to have the ball fully under control and can't shoot. The thought of Leonard bombing forward is exciting. However, I have no idea if he can defend and that, first and foremost is the basic requirement of a centre back.

Lay off Bash....rarely injured, puts everything into every tackle and header. Better than he gets bredit for running with the ball, though I agree he’s best kept out of midfield as he lacks the vision, technique and passing ability to perform at this and higher levels.
But as he is....he’s good enough.

If we are to move into top,6 and stay there Bash isntbgood enough I'm afraid. End of.

I think if we were going to sign anyone it would be a similar deal to CCV. Young development player from a prem club on loan. Although a report today suggested all our deals were done for the JTW.

I personally would like to see Jake Wright have a run in the team. Rarely puts a foot wrong, calm and an organiser. I think CCV was in there for pace more than anything, which we will lack a bit with our current defenders, unless CW deploys Leonard at the back. I'd much prefer to see Leonard in CM to give us a bit of drive going forward though.

Liking Jake Wright (one of most consistent performers last year) is not allowed by some. I mean why would you play a steady CB like Wright when you can go and take a chance on a young loan player that a PL club has in the squad as 7th backup for their superstars?

I don't think anyone is saying they don't rate Wright - he's done remarkably since joining. However, whilst he did ok at LCB against Ipswich (reserves) his best position is CB and, unfortunately for him, he is currently behind Stearman in the pecking order.

Leonard at RCB in an interesting concept. I doubt he's done it previously (although he has played centrally in a back 4) but in theory he does have all the required traits, he'd push Bash for a starting position (far better than CCV did who again looked far more comfortable at CB) and would enable Fleck, Lundstram and Evans to battle for the 2 CM positions.

I see Leonard final position for us being right sided centre half.

We are all saying we need to improve in certain areas, Ball retention / possession is something our game is built on. (Which is why sharp is struggling).

We need to look to slowly improve Leonard will be better on the ball than Basham. Yet to be seen if he has the other attributes for that position.

But I would keep Basham at this club for 5 years no problem. Best squad player we’ve ever had.

But I can see next season us spending our money more on 3/4 players and not 8+.

Just a crazy thought but perhaps we should let Lenny have half an hour or so in his accustomed position, where he has done rather well for a few years? Just to let him settle in at his new club, then we'll convert him into a deep-lying, false nine, underlapping, left sided forward-back with a free role.

We could do that, as long as he has got his goal keepers gloves in his pocket, just in case..........

I would guess that if Leonard is to be used as a central defender - right side - then we won't see another loan player in. If Wilder is going for another loan then maybe he doesn't see Leonard in that role, other than as cover, and intends to use Leonard more in the center, although this is all guesswork! I hope we don't bring in another loan to be honest, it'd be nice to see us develop what we have and maybe even Heneghan get the odd game, unless he goes out on loan.

If Jags could do it, why can’t Lenny?

What if they've chased him because he can play right centre back ?

Then we wouldn’t have pursued the Blackburn right centre back Lenihan at exactly the same time. We’d be back in for him as well but for his serious injury.

Tufty and/or Lendog would have mentioned it by now, were he going to play in defence.

Would they ?

That's not CB. And there's always one !
Our centre back plays like an inside wing back ,would be handy to have someone who could play defensive midfield ,right back and right centre back

In my opinion it would be a great waste if all he does is sit in the lundstram role to let the less able Basham to bomb forward
