Well I'm hoping he does the biz but I think there are more pressing areas to improve

Started well....But then the bitterness kicked in.

As stated earlier in the post, it seems Holmes was the only positive at Charlton and without them they will be a sinking ship!

Many positive comments about Holmes, and given the length of contract that we've given him it sounds about right that we're getting a player who gives his all, as well as being that little bit special and capable of making a difference. Seem he puts in a shift too, can't wait to see him in a Blade's shirt.

Cheers Weirdo!

Really?
We need the key to the door when teams park the bus and Mr Holmes could provide that.
How many goals have we scored, direct from free kicks?
How good are our corners?
When do we beat the first man from a corner and whip tha bastard in?
Who has scored from outside the box besides Nathan Thomas?
That can make the difference between a draw and a win.
I reckon if we had Holmes available last Friday he would have come on for Duffy and might have produced the spark we needed.
(btw - I am a Duffy fan but that game was crying out for better dead ball delivery or a screamer)

(PS - we also need the wing backs to learn how to cross the fecking ball with some quality)

Now there’s a fair amount of luck in smashing those in from 35 yards as any footballer will admit. Take away those goals and what have you got? Yes, he can get his head down and bomb down the wing, and cross the ball. And he does give 100%. In fact he can shoot given the chance.

...but apart from that..

But to me he’s a little bit of a one trick pony.

...
like wtf!?

Slightly surprised Sheff Utd have come back for him. To me he’s lower Championship at best, his crossing, corners and indirect free kicks aren’t very good.”

Oh dear...he's not very good a indirect free kicks

Obviously the youth players who need a new dealer

When you compare his performances to Duffy's in L1 last season and consider how well Duffy's stepped up to the Championship, there's no reason to think Holmes won't do the same.

Seems he's the opposite to Duffy, which is a good thing really. Duffy is slower, more calculated, picks a pass very well but doesn't dribble, he glides and makes a yard of space for himself and usually crosses. Whereas Holmes uses shear pace, head down runs at people and often shoots., unless out wide where he shoots and crosses! In short, Holmes will be ideal off the bench to break up the crapper teams in the league who have no other tactic but to stick ten behind the ball and hit us on the counter! :D:D

Can see Holmes starting too but Duffy is in excellent form too so it'll be interesting to see how Tufty uses both.

So, don’t put him on set pieces or on the wing? 2 things I’m sure we had any intention of doing anyway!

That worries me. I wish Wilder would check these boards before he signs players he knows nothing about.

Thanks Roy.

Well with the positive comments added to the Southend's Leonard's comments I've every confidence that we'll be after Wolves for the top slot.

Thanks again Roy. My mate is a Charlton fan and I can tell you he and his circle of mates are absolutely gutted that he has gone. He tells me he will frighten the life out of championship defences like he does here.
He goes on to say that when Ricky Holmes gets the ball everyone all over the ground stand up out of their seats. That’s what we want to hear

Really like Charlton.

Me too! Back in 2014 when we met them in the Cup, one of their fans ('Charlton George'? - tried search but can't find him) came on here with some very fair opinions about his club. A solid, traditional club who it's difficult to dislike - unlike those cunts from S6.

Looking forward to him attacking the kop end in the second half already, one or two of their fans mentioned him not being fit, anybody know out?

Sheffield Wednesday will be after that top slot too after their recent magnificent resurgence last Friday night. ;)

Nice one as usual Roy, welcome to the Lane Ricky.
