Apparently Wednesday fans battered blades

Before the game started on the radio Bwain and Mick show before KO they went to one of their a reporters outside the ground and you could hear the flash bangs going off and the reporter did state that it was SYP using em.....
Obviously that reporter has never, ever been in the vicinity of a real 'flash-bang' when it went off.

Plod would never use flash-bangs to split up groups of fighting fans - not unless they're now being made by Brocks.

Yes that was them.
I don't reckon they could have been to the game either. We left two minutes after the final whistle, walked straight to the car parked in Queens Social club and as we turned the corner into Queens Street, they were all walking towards us. Not sure they could have got out of the ground and to the other end of Queens Street if they'd been at the game. At Ieast they didn't target us, two pensioners and a young lad and we were obviously Blades.

If it's a wind up, I'm not wound up.

I don't care which hooligans beat which hooligans, they don't represent me.

Same here but some hoolies get so worked up they just have to give someone a "clip", night ruined if they don't. Its fucking pathetic.
Tbf I ran with the hoolies for a very short while, thought it was a noble cause. Believe me, I saw nothing noble. I'd wager £1000 not a single hoolie here hasn't had a clip off one of their own, been bullied or just plain picked on for entertainment, or will do before they realise what a fucking stupid thing it actually is.

Once saw one of our " top lads" nut a good home and away Blade just because he was so worked up, this was at the back of the kop ffs. Lad hasn't been to a match since and this was during our promotion season from the 4th!
Really helped our cause that! Dickheads.

I try not to mention it because it always comes across as though I'm painting myself as a tough nut when really I'm a bit of a coward trying to escape the introvert in me, but I've had a few fights in my time for sport (let's say I have a mixed record at best), and for me hitting someone outside of a ring, or away from a mat, makes about as much sense as slide tackling away from a football pitch. And, honestly, maybe I was lucky I was involved in that kind of sport from a young age because it can be a lot of fun, but it left me with no desire to be an idiot outside of it. I've seen a fair few bloody noses, more than one broken arm, knock outs, dislocations, and that's in controlled environments. Fighting's dangerous. Just last week there was a story in the news about another death from a single punch to a shop owner and all over some rizlas. Some sixteen year old's facing a murder charge because he thought you could hit a random guy without consequence like in a cartoon.

I honestly have no problem with anyone who enjoys a good scrap, it's just there are so many places you can go and find a willing participant, matched up for you so it's a level playing field, and not spoil the streets for everyone who doesn't want to be involved. But that's not really what attracts people to the hoolies. They want to be in a big group, they want to be the big boys in the playground, and they like intimidating people who want no part in it.

Good for you.

I'll rephrase my initial posts. "The factual inconsistencies in the highlighted post would suggest that the events therein described did not occur in the the manner described and should only be viewed as an attempt at satire. Furthermore, by making this observation I would not like to be seen to be either glamorising or legitimatising the behavior described therein, despite such behaviour being believed to have never occurred".

If anyone is in any doubt about the risks and consequences, please google Gillingham v Fulham 1998 death of Matthew Fox by Barry Cullen. The BBC article explains, but effectively Fox was hit just once by Cullen outside Priestfields. Cullen had no previous history of violence and the death was caused by the force of the punch aggravated by Cullen's ring that opened an artery in Fox's head. Fox's family feature and their obvious distress at the loss of their 24 year old son clear.

What is not so apparent is the impact on Cullen's family, who I knew. His Dad had been an honourable and proud WW2 soldier for whom seeing his son go to Prison was the ultimate shame. His brother who I knew couldn't believe at 30 that he'd lost his job, eventuallly his wife, family and home. Impact on his kids at school, loss of income etc etc. And he wasn't the hard man in Prison at all...

Not a moral lecture, just an explanation that actions have consequences and smacking people for fun in the name of football definitely has consequences...

Plod: We are hereby seizing these "explosive devices" under the Police made up Act of 1989, basically because they look cool and we wanna go"
This makes me wonder what Customs Officers do with seized packets of cigarettes.
The official line is that they are "incinerated"...Probably. Slowly. By mouth. And one at a time.

Wonder who the Pig was at the front with those huge comedy teeth?

I have told the story before, but some years ago I was chatting to some young Blades fans who were talking about the hard blokes in the BBC (and I mean grown up blokes, not lads), they mentioned someone by nick name, so I said, "I went to school with someone with that nick name, is his real name......."

They said it was and I burst out laughing, he was one of those lads at school who picked on young kids, acted tough, but crapped himself if anyone his own age said something to him. He was always organising gang scraps with rival youths or rival schools, always at the front of the mob until the action was about to start, when he would always end up right at the back, shouting "get 'em lads!".

They told me about the stories he was telling them, about the fights he had been in, so I said "have you ever seen him in a scrap?", they said no, so I just winked at them and walked off.

'The Steel City derby seen through the eyes of a [Dutch?] groundhopper'.

A complete laughing stock from both sides of the divide.
A few naughty words, a few songs that were at the best, half-hearted, a few threats made behind the legions of SYP.
Pack it in the lot of yer, it's not even a joke.

Did the person filming this have a brief to capture the worst pondlife from both sides? For fucks sake, when will morons stop glorifying "hoolies" as some sort of modern day band of merry men? They're moronic thugs, with no more morals or "honour" than your average pissed/coked up Carver Street "lad" on a Saturday night.

I'm all for rivalry, it's fun, it's a laugh and it adds an extra bit of spice to occasions like derbies. But at about 11:30 on Friday night I was chatting online with a pig I've known for 20 years (she calls me a pig as well, it's a mutual acknowledgement of the rivalry that we both enjoy) and we managed to have a reasonable, adult conversation about the match, and about football in general.

The people that suffer as a result of these activities are not the "boys" that get "clipped" etc etc. It's the overwhelming majority of normal people who go to watch a football match, and find themselves subject to draconian policing, and the very real fear of getting caught up in the activities of these twats.

Hooligans packed in a long time ago. These are the kids who are on the piss on Carver St.

They're no different to be honest. Still aiming to cause trouble at games, still not thinking even slightly about the repercussions of their actions on normal, decent people who want to go and watch their team and then go home (maybe via the pub) without worrying about catching a stray brick/firework in the face. There is no excuse for it now, and there never was. It's a fucking game at the end of the day, whoever the opposition is. If you want to fight, become a boxer or join the army. The only issue with this solution is that 99% of those involved would shit themselves and run away at the first sign of someone bigger than them fighting back.

They are twats of the highest order, and I'd happily see the lot of them banned from the lane, and all football grounds.

Absolutely, stopped watching at 5 minutes, embarrassed and there it is the justification for the coppers to do what they did.

If, and I stress if the pigs talking about ‘doing’ United at the Cricketers was about 7.30 then they’re talking bollocks. I’d been at the Sheaf Island and walked down with mates to watch match in the Cricketers while they went to the match and I would meet them later. Saw all the rubbish with the escort. Was stood waiting at cricks to get in, as they said they would open once match started (they changed their mind). Then we heard the Wendy chant and kicking off up the road and looked like they were belting folk - walked up to have a look and the were about 10 at most. There were verbals and they had a go. Now, wether I’m proud of the next bit depends - a pig walked towards me obviously looking to hit me and i took the view with the number of police around to not throw a punch and just defend myself which I did - but got a crack on the jaw - wrong place at wrong time for me. The Wendy lads got about one punch on anyone before being rounded up by the police, I’m not BBC - I’ve been to about two matches this season. And wouldn’t say anyone around was either. Nice ‘result’ - the fucking morons

Take a look at the amount of thumbs up for these pathetic posts. Owlstalk really is a gathering of the most idiotic and deluded Wednesday fans. Its like a cult.

There are loads of quotes like this on the thread and all with a ridiculous amount of likes. The decent Owls pointing out how much bullshit is being spoken are being negged by the thickos. What a set of clowns.

Absolutely delighted to see the contrast in reaction towards the apparent trouble on here compared to there. I can see now why a few of my mates stopped posting on Owlstalk due to the number of dickheads.

I’m not exactly a soft target - I’m 6.4 and 18 stone. But their bullshit knows no bounds as they were picking off people up the road but that’s Ok cause they got a ‘result’ No they didn’t - there were no ‘lads’ there at that point.
