Brooks

You ridiculed people who suggested playing him...

...to see if he was ready. That’s done by the manager in training every day and performances at lower levels.

We’re a professional football club, not the X-Factor.

The interest is from Tottenham. The expected bid is around £10m.

They’d get a great fee for him aswell but they realise it’s worth more to keep him and get to the top tier, great for Fulham who will no doubt in my mind get in the playoffs, along with Brentford, the two best sides to come to the lane this season.

They'd get far more for him than we'd get for Brooksy. They're just taking the matter off the agenda till the summer, & credit to them for giving themselves the best chance by doing that.

Fully agree about them & Brentford being the best we've seen at the Lane (both better on their day than Wolves were on theirs). But the division's so competitive. Any of that top 11 could make the play-offs IMO (including Preston).

Surely you mean the top 16?

Oh, there’s more than enough obsequious humility on here without me adding to the overload.

Let’s acknowledge that our own team are not fit to walk on the same pitch as Brentford. Fucking Brentford! Then we can have a chat about how much we admire Bolton Fucking Wanderers.

Stretching it, I suppose you could make a case for those clubs down as far as 15th.

But, realistically, the sadasses from 16th downwards are locked in to a desperate battle to avoid the trap-door ;)

Stop embarrassing yourself

Don't shoot the messenger - long time reader, semi-occasional poster.

Just to try and clear up any confusion - Brooks is definitely ill and was hospitalised/bedridden for a short while with said illness.
This has come from a colleague of mine whose daughter is very good friends with brooks. My colleague knows naff all about football and so would not need to make any of this up to wind me up - she didn't even realise how popular/good a player brooks was until she overheard me talking about him in the office.

Apparently Wilder has no intention of selling him (as we know it may be out of his hands) and the Liverpool interest (for now at least) has calmed.

Could be bollocks but thought it might quell some fears for January at least.

UTB (please crucify me in true S24SU style)

I don't suppose she knows John Fleck does she? ;)

Who’s said all that in your second paragraph?

Brentford were mercilessly cap-doffed in the run up to our first fixture. There was bollocks about them finishing in the top two and a memorable remark that anyone who thought we might finish above them (I did and said so) was deluded. Forelock tugging of a high order.

Bolton was very recent. Caps were doffed to their ugly football. It was embarrassing. Tufty put the cap-doffers right in his superb interview where he made it crystal clear what he thinks of hoofball. A lot of correspondents on here have since gone to ground and are hoping that will be quietly forgotten. Sadly for the Hoofers, it won’t. Not while I’m around.

Brentford were and are a good footballing side who imo will finish in the top six so if we finish infront of them I’ll be very happy.

Bolton have been shite for a long time but they try to get the best out of the limited football side they have, mostly to do with their manager, the only ones I’ve seen commenting on this were the ones saying exactly that.

Its getting more Python by the hour!

BLOOD & THUNDER PROPHET: ...And the bezan shall be huge and black, and the eyes thereof red with the blood of living creatures, and the whore of Babylon shall ride forth on a three-headed serpent, and throughout the lands, there'll be a great rubbing of parts. Yeeah...

FALSE PROPHET: ...For the demon shall bear a nine-bladed sword. Nine-bladed! Not two or five or seven, but nine, which he will wield on all wretched sinners, sinners just like you, sir, there, and the horns shall be on the head, with which he will...

BORING PROPHET: ...Obadiah, his servants. There shall, in that time, be rumors of things going astray, erm, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things wi-- with the sort of raffia work base that has an attachment. At this time, a friend shall lose his friend's hammer and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight o'clock. Yea, it is written in the book of Cyril that, in that time, shall the third one...

Whos who?

I don't get football fans... Wilder consistently insists Brooks is going nowhere, Wilder say's Brooks is injured, Brook's posts a picture of himself in hospital on social media, Wilder believes Brooks has tonsillitis (later confirmed to be glandular fever), cue madness about him being sold.

Random bloke on a forum (could easily be a fraud (no offence mate, but it could be)) reiterates that Brooks is injured, and suddenly everyone believes it.
