Just had a talk with a mate, claims that it's "my sheffield united, come thrill me again" and not "like sheffield united, come fill me again". Is he a dozy cunt or is he talking sense? I've been saying the latter all my life, so who's right?

He's a dozy cunt... 100% it's fill me again

I’ve been singing it since the 80’s and it’s always been “come fill me again”.

I think the “come thrill me again” is a fairly recent alternative version.

Thrill me again was around in the 90’s as this tshirt shows

Edit just realise the image was one I posted back in 2010 on this very forum

It's the latter, and it's magnet.

Can't believe in 2018 some people are still questioning it

well I've been going to the lane since the sixties and we always sung maggots and come thrill me again. And was the first fans to sing about the barmy army

It is 'thrill'.

Unfortunately, the 'th' part is too much of an effort for the pissheads to attempt so it's evolved into 'fill'.

It just means I have to tell my Rotherham 84 story again. I'm bored of it myself, I'm starting to sound like Uncle Albert.

Anyway, first time I heard it was after the Rotherham away game in our 1984 promotion season, when Bob Atkin scored a late vollied winner in front of 50,000 ecstatic Blades (we're massive). The song was being sang on the bus back to Sheffield. It was 'Magnet' and 'fill'. I'd never heard it before and I was a junior Blade and went to almost all home games and some away. As far as I'm concerned that is the definitive version.

If any outsider is reading this they will piss themselves at the fact we don’t even know our own words to one of the best football anthems in the world.

Maggots or magnet in 10, 9......
