I thought it was around £2.5m for signings according to Alan Biggs?

Don't know mate, I remember people saying we were looking at one permanent and three loans, or something like that.

Would love CW to pull another one out of the bag before Friday, but he knows best, so I am happy with whatever he is happy with.

Evans L
Evans C
Wilson J
Wilson J (the other one)
Wright J
Wright J Jr
Are we trying to save money on shirts or what?
There hasn’t been this much potential for confusion since the glory days of Shaw J, Shaw G and Shaw B ... although at least if CW is looking for a defender it narrows the search to one: Jonny Evans.

I think the goalposts have been moved a bit Grappler and nobody really knows....The latest was that Wilder had his budget and was going to maximise it the best that he could. What this means who knows but obviously the pessimists amongst us had a field day with this response.

Personally, knowing how Wilder has gone about business previously, I wouldn't be overly surprised to see another one or even two on permanents as well as loans....I think that Wilder aims for at least 4 players over the line, firstly to make up for a bad end to the summer window...but also to cover what he has discovered is required in the first half of the season.

It had been rumoured 1 x Permanent 3 x Loans not that I ever believed that or the 2.5m budget
So we have probably spent 1.5m if there are any loans there will be loan fees to pay and contribution to wages etc

CW said he was hoping for a couple more before Friday, and this was after the Leonard news, so maybe a striker on his way in?

By the way, if this is confirmed, that we have bought Lee Evans (and it looks like we have), then this blows all that bollocks out of the water about only having enough money for one permanent signing and the rest are loans

That arose as a half-baked rumour and quickly, by repetition, became an established fact on social media. I challenged it at the time but, as usual with my wise observations, it fell on stony ground...

There was always going to be more than one permanent. For what it’s worth, I think (I’m NITFK) there’ll be more than two.

Kevin/HRH,

Thanks for spending your money on my football club. You didn’t have to...

I know you said you were not in the know, above, but is this based on any rumours you have heard, or just gut feeling?

Yep - these were the Same genius’ that claimed we were submitting fake bids for Coady - for reason that are unknown.

Wilder said one perm and 3 loans but there is clearly still abit of a budget left from August and that was before a strong start to the season.

Hope we get a couple of attacking players to add to our forward line and help us push on.

In fact here it is...

‘It might be 1 permanent and 3 loans, it might be however the f*** many I want it to be, because I’m Chris’y Wilder and I do what I want’

x

Well well well.....panic over?

Or are we still pessimistic and waiting for January to be over first?

Would love us to go out and buy that one top quality striker, pace, power, energy finishing....but know that realistically we just don’t have the dosh. One £10m pound plus player away......and by that I mean one with talent and ability, and still worth that amount despite being close to the end of a contract, not like the £10m pound striker the other lot brought in.

It was wilder that said it

The only people who talk with any certainty about budgets are the moaners. Only Wilder & SUFC know the truth.

I think Evans and Wilson done by the weekend, but it’s kept on the QT to the extent it’s anyones guess.

The £2.5m quoted by Alan Biggs was more of a forecast based on the summer dealings, as opposed to accurate ITK information.

Wilder may well have been given way less than he would have liked, but he is man enough to deal with that and get on with things. He doesn't want any negativity around the place and sure as well wouldn't want his budget to be public knowledge.

He might have been given a decent war chest considering the factors, again he wouldn't want anyone to know what he has to spend because he doesn't want a window of teams holding us to ransom again.

Whilst it is frustrating not knowing what to expect in the window...never the less I think it is the right decision to keep it all hush hush.

Didn’t someone dig out the extract that actually didn’t say anything like only one permanent?

It was pointed out at the time (before Christmas) that Giddings’s tweet on his interview with Wilder, in which he said it was 3 loans and 1 permanent, that this wasn’t actually said by Wilder in the interview that was then posted online. Yes, he mentioned he was planning to bring in 4 assuming no major departures – he did not give any more detail on whether these would be permanents or loans.

Er...yes they did.

You have no choice but to spend money, whether it be speculate to accumulate, or to fund losses.

You don't own a football club without expecting to spend.

Be grateful to their financial input certainly, but saying they didn't have to spend is folly. Their only other option is effectively to give the club away one way or another, indirectly or not.

I've got a feeling that any possible incomings (more than likely loans now )
Will have to be offset by outgoings

But there should be two or three on their way out soon surely

Ah, speculate to accumulate. How I’ve missed that phrase...

Why is it more than likely. Have you done a statistical analysis?

Whiteman will be on his way out, for one.

I did, for one. Unfortunately the S2 population is far more receptive to negative shite and it quickly becomes the common ‘wisdom’.

The usual suspects are climbing onto the usual high-horses, not grasping the obvious that it doesn’t fucking matter a fig. Actions speak louder than words and there is more than one permanent signing! It’s very disappointing to those with an agenda. It’s spoilt their JTW already and Jim White Day is still weeks away.

Can I be first to say Evans is shite n'not fit to lace Leonard's boots n he's not fit to wear Lundstram's (sweat saturated) jock strap n 'he's useless any road when compared to (>2016) Coutts (even wi' a busted leg) n'....n'............,n' .............

KIN ELL Montgomery you fuckin useless fucker, fuckiin fuck off you fuckin USELESS TWAT !

Actually Wilder didn’t. It was Giddings that claimed he did when he realised he’d made himself look a fool. Chris would have already gone a long way down bringing in permanents (plural) at the time he is supposed to have said that.

The “two million” budget is also a fiction that’s become fact by repetition. Very few know what the actual budget it is - and they don’t publish it on message boards.

I read somewhere the budget is around 2 million. (It was from some random source)

But 750 Leonard / 750 Evans. Means we have 500 left. A few sales of Whiteman etc may leave us with 1 million left.

Correct CW said in an interview he was looking for four incomings and then went onto say outgoings would be a mixture of permanents and loans. Giddings tweeted it was 1 permanent and 3 loans incoming. When challenged by a poster on here that CW didn't say that he responded by referring to a press conference where it was said. Stir as usual jumped on the back of Giddings and reported the 3 and 1 figures. When Evans is signed up for a permanent fee it will just confirm there is no point in taking any notice of the local media when it comes to transfer speculation.
