Lenny gone, Ranger gone, please let it be Brown gone. We were absolutely dire getting spanked 1-3 at Northampton, they're bottom of the FL1 for fucks sake. Give us Lenny back you bastards.

Know the feeling Roots, we lost our midfielder, Coutts, through a broken leg, and it's taking some time to get back in the groove.

You forgot to put 'northern' before bastards.

I try not to be judgemental mate. I've noticed that some of your posters on here have southern locations implied. An hour or so since the final whistle and I'm still as pissed off as I was at the end of the game. ShrimperZone is way past meltdown mode. Argggghhhh.

Not for £700k though. If we'd sold Adams for £700k there'd have been an uproar. If we'd offered the best part of £2m for him I'm sure the deal would have gone through in August.

Leonard was their player of the year and very influential to them ...... so to them he was our Maguire / Murphy / Beattie / Deane / Fjortoft / Walker / etc.

Its all a matter of opinion really but if a player throws teddy out of the cot 'cos he doesn't get a move ...... he then gets dropped, misses game time and the move may never happen for him.

We should have had the balls to tell a (leech) Agent to "do one" and tell the player in question; "this isn't an appropriate time / price etc for us to sell, so get your head down and play for the club you're contracted to" ....... and we should have done this on many occasions in the past.

I do empathise, seriously. Trouble is, for a club that doesn't have the potential to attract large gates (meaning 20K or over) you depend on selling or having a wealthy benefactor. Len's a good case in example. Hopefully he'll show that he's equipped to play at this level, even above. Of course he'll get time to adjust, assuming adjustment is necessary, but hopefully he'll want to impress from the very first game he plays. We have a player that Wilder bought from Oxford, Lundstram. Initially very few were impressed and thought he'd never become a player. Now he's had time, and the belief of the manager, and he's showing why Wilder bought him here. So we're all hoping Len will do well. As a crowd we can be very tough on players who underwhelm, but if they give their all, and have that bit extra, then we'l get right behind 'em.

I'm a southern Blade who's lived in Sheffield for over 30 years, and yes, our fan base is spread wide.
.
Chin up fella, it's only football. I know we all take it too seriously but let's hope Ron can now bring in a few decent players to lift the gloom

Leonard signed for Blades last night (Friday) just confirmed by Wilder on Radio Sheffield
You'll have to wait "He's signed as far as I'm concerned" were the words spoken by CW (I think) maybe personal terms not yet quite sorted?

Been sayin for a while we should let you have Whiteman on loan. Good replacement for Leonard. Mind you at that time I did say he'd be better off at a team going for promotion and not fighting a relegation battle with Donny! As others have said Lavery would also be a good fit for you. We can offset some of the £700k with loan fees and you'd have two good players on loan and some change left.

Spare a thought for Southend fans and club.

We are the bigger club here and they have now lost their 3 times Player of the Season.

Shit happens to smaller clubs and fans all the way down the pyramid.

Duck that shot.. (haha, predictive text, not even gonna bother)... it's happened to us before and could still very well happen in the next 25 days.

I disagree, we were talking about much bigger sums than £700k when we were in L1. I don't for one minute think we'd have accepted that for Maguire, for instance, however much he sulked but the money we got should have been more than enough to replace him and strengthen the squad.
The only one that annoyed me was Murphy as it was late in the day and didn't give us the chance to sign players. I still think if we'd have offered £2m for Leonard in August they've have snapped our hands off.

I'd be far more inclined to agree if Southend were in the playoffs but forcing Leonard to stay hasn't really done then much good.

Invest some of the Leonard money in Graham Carey,it may ease the blow a bit.I know he's not like for like, but a very good player that i wish we had signed.

Maybe Whitman recall is part of the sweetener in this deal. Maybe this has delayed the announcement as there maybe a loan to Southend for him.

Whilst i agree with the sentiment of your post, Darth, in the instance of Adams, I think Wilder got it spot on. Good riddance, he didn't fit the mould and is likely to be back in the league he came from next season, though i am sure he will be sold on some time soon.

Will our Christopher be running downstairs like an excited 5 year old to see if he has a wrapped up 'Leonard' under the Christmas tree?

So Once this as the confirmed tag on it, this thread is done and dusted..... Rest In peace little fella...
