Here's one:

Is that what giving it large is nowadays? My god that's gone down hill!

Making a positive statement on a Blades forum, one that to my knowledge not a single pig fan posts on can hardly be classed as such imo.

I also assume you're aware that opinions and attitudes of Sheffield United fans are imparted away from this board.

Then if using them as examples provide links. I don't use any other site that's Blades related so how am I to take onboard what's said elsewhere?
Could be pig fans on the wind up AFAIK.

Their somewhat flimsy excuses are also being lined up with gusto, just in case we beat them like:

1) First 11 injured - whoever they are, seen as though Carloss never seemed to know who his best 11 were when everyone was fit. They also seem to forget that they had everyone fit bar Forestfairy and Hutchinson [who they will of course claim are their 2 best players] in September, yet we still mullered them with 1 fit striker in the squad that day. I notice how none of them mention that we will be without Coutts.

2) United will have more recovery time as we have to replay the cup match - or it's an opportunity for the new guy to test things out? In any case sorry lads, you should have beaten that league 2 team shouldn't you.

3) The players don't have the character - but hang on, every one of their players is supposedly better than ours and if the new guy cannot get them up for this then they may as well have well stuck with Bullen.

4) The players aren't fit enough - similar to the above, surely their vastly superior footballing ability will see them overcome our hard working team of pub players?

It will be a harder game than the one at the sty, you know what they say wounded animal etc, they will not want us doing the double again surely they can't be as bad as last time we met. If we play the way we can we are more than capable of beating them we all knew this last September the difference is us Blades tend not to gob off like your average pig fan does, which is probably why we are usually the underdog when these games come around.
Not into predicting scores in derby games but I hope we give them the five goal thrashing that they have deserved and evaded for decades.

Clearly the level of expectation is different from September. I went more in hope that we would not lose than anything. This game though has a whole different level of expectation in that we would, all things being equal, have a good chance of victory. There lies the problem though, it’s a one off, they are ‘wounded’, got a new manager, and an expectation of having nothing to lose. This will be the Blades biggest test this season. Form book goes out the window, it’s who turns up on the day.

It will be a harder game than the one at the sty,
No it won't!
They're shite, have no direction or passion or stomach for a battle and I really can't see Borat getting them up for the derby game, against what we know, will be a Blades team who will be well drilled and well up for it!

1, Carlos had already lost most of the dressing game by this point, it doesn't take an expert to see that the team had fallen off a cliff under him this season, the 11 injuries and fitness in general has been an issue to date but we probably weren't even at our worst vs you lot.

2, N/A the replay is after our game

3, irrelevant as individuals, Carlos showed this in the current season just not played as a team, I'm sure there will be an improvement until the end of the season, I have no idea if the new guy will get them fired up for it...

4, linked to 1, it's a fact that our players just aren't fit, no idea how it's been allowed to get to this point with players conditioning being so poor, but it's been clear for all to see for a while now

They are the facts not excuses, we don't need excuses, the players that have been on the pitch this season just haven't performed for whatever reason and it's clear to see.

I think the game comes to soon for Jos to have a real impact on it, while you guys aren't on the best run Wilder will have the team up for it and playing as a unit so it's a real up hill task for us.

Let's hope for a good game.

Bollocks to a good game,I would settle for a poor game and a United win, good game my bottom, you sound like the type that would purchase a half and half scarf

Let’s go out there and do the business first before ppl start popping champagne corks , they’ll be up for it injuries or not & more so after the Sweet Sept result and on back of Burton humiliation they still have a few handy individuals.
Role reversal this time with us as favs .. let’s not fall into the trap the Oinks did in the pre match with the Bertie Big Bollocks approach.
I think they’ll follow the Brum , Brizzle & Bolton approach and sit deep after trying to go toe to toe with us at Swillsboro.
If we bring our A game and get an early goal I think they could be in for a long night , but I want us to play with our heads a bit more along with the flair .

First goal will decide this, said the same against Bolton, it will be a tight affair, score first and they will have to come at us, this will then play directly into our hands, if they score first then they will park the bus and we could be in for a frustrating evening.

Saying we'll "smash them" would be "giving it large" in most people's book I'd imagine.

You're entitled to think that, and there's nothing wrong with being confident. Me though, I'm a very pessimistic person and i worry that if we (the fanbase) get too confident, we'll set ourselves up for a fall

The thought of all those Owls fans mincing up and down doing Minuets is hilarious; I hope I still feel as happy and amused after the game. I'm confident that we will be the best team on the day, despite being somewhat out of form and missing key players, but accept that football isn't like tennis or snooker, and unfortunately referees have much more power than the officials of both those sports.

Cw and Ak will have us ironed and ready for this.
No reason why we shouldn't be out of the traps under the lights at bdtbl.
They have a new man.Extra pressure on them as individuals to perform well for Manuel.
An opportunity for us to totally wipe them off the face of the earth.

To me "giving it large" would suggest some interaction with the opposition, there's none here AFAIK.
Let's look at it a other way, both sets of fans, opposite aides of the road giving it hands and bouncing on toes Neanderthal style. What would that be called then? "Giving it extra large"?

Anyway its all superstitious bollocks, nothing any fan says will have any bearing on the final result.

I guess our definitions of giving it large are different. No matter.

You say that, but the fans (as a single entity) attitude has a bearing on a game at times.
I'm sure most players would tell you they would rather play in a supportive, hopeful atmosphere than an impatient, expectant one.

Ok, let's say you're right. But wouldn't this require a substantial amount of fans also "giving it large"? Bar myself (which I disagree with anyway) and a couple.of other mystery fans doing the same I don't think those requirements are quite being met as yet.
I also doubt the players prefer our fans subdued, preferring a wall of noise to greet the pigs as they step out.
Almost seems you'd prefer a library atmosphere, just in case.

I said supportive and hopeful, rather than a subdued library, but see what you want to see...

Ok. Either way I still maintain we'll smash the cunts. You watch from behind the sofa if it makes you feel better.

Yes, I'll be behind the sofa, excellent comeback m'lord.

Lol. Look mate its quite simple, I'm confident, but if we lose I'll take it on the chin. You seem to be holding back "just in case".
Personally I'd prefer a confident crowd.

I wouldn't be so sure.
Apparently Borat's done most of his managing in Bundesliga 2, which i have just found out courtesy of Porktalk is only just behind La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and the Premiership in terms of Quality.

Can only see defeat Friday.

"Seem" being the operative word.

I think some of our fans look for excuses , theyve got a new manager wounded beast syndrome , theyll want to prove a point etc etc
But if we cant go into Friday night feeling reasonably confident we never will
They are missing players , have players hiding looked well inferior to us at the sty
they play too deep and create very little

I never expect a massacre , but I cant see anything other than a win for us by 2 in one form or another

We did OK last year with our "nervous after being in Division 3 for six years" silence.

We will be fine on Friday. Wilder will have the players spot on for this. And that Pigs manager, whoever he is, has his work cut out. It all comes down the Wednesday players and their professionalism.

Let's be fair, no matter how much shit I give the piggies on twitter, no matter how arrogant and confident I pretend to be, it's not going to affect the matche's outcome!

We've got 28,000 blades sucking the ball into the net Friday and one collossas leasing our charge, it doesn't matter how confident we are,CW will charge the players up like it's life or death regaurless.

What you hope for and what you would settle for are two different things, I wouldn't purchase a scraf nevermind a half / half one
