Joe Riley posted a picture in the Shirecliffe academy lift on his Snapchat. Think it’s an old picture but just saying like.

Signing both Leonard and Lee Evans for 700k apiece is the sort of thing you do if you have money to spare.

So I find that hard to believe.

Me too, unless there is an outgoing? Which is too painful to consider (unless it's Carruthers)

Is he as animated as his annoying comedic (loosely speaking) namesake?

Do we really want to risk adding new players to Friday's squad?

Possibly not to the matchday squad.

But getting these deals done and introducing new players to the squad in the week of the derby could be an absolute masterstroke.

It will give the other players a lift. Training standards will be that bit higher and we'll be absolutely primed for the game.

Cheers Roy. Excellent interview from tufty. Would love to see this tackle by Slater on the Ipswich lad!. Apparently Duffy was impressed so it must have been a hell of a tackle. Utb

Been home just over an hour, that tackle was worth the 5+ hours of driving, absolute monster of a tackle and something thats very rare in professional football these days!

"Cemented him" he certainly did!

So much to admire in this interview.

Manager prepared to show confidence and respect for his full squad, express admiration for the players' commitment and professionalism.

Says things as they are and therefore respects his audience i.e. us.

Always respects the Board and how they back him. Always keen to engender the Bladey thing and the unity and purpose of the club

A manager and a Blade at the top of his game. Not all work and no play, he's ' made in Sheffield ' and is laying the foundations of a dynasty in true S2 style and spirit, 'old school" if you like. No frills or posing, it's all solid hard work and play hard - the S2 model as an antidote to what we see across the city and in the Prem - focus on team, group and collective achievement. No room for hard nosed mercenaries here.

I hope the Board has given him and Knill wonderful contracts. Still say 10 year contracts would demonstrate to the football world that this is ' made in Sheffield' for our own by our own. Keep away he's all ours.

Of course what he actually stresses more than anything is quality football played the right way. Check his interview after the Bolton game,

The “Bladey thing” is utter bollocks and always has been. Did he have a “Cobblers thing” when succeeding at Northampton?

It’s all about good players playing the right way. The rest is parochial sentimentality. Were you waving a knife and fork when you wrote it?

I'm afraid you do not understand what I am saying. 'Parochial'or not, 'sentimental' no it isn't.

We are building a squad in a different way than any other club I know at this level. We are not throwing cash at short term options. We are cherry picking 'Players of the Year' from lower league clubs; players of character with plenty to prove and to offer; players who can grow with the club.

The new Wednesday manager simply cannot work to this model, he is from another planet. He may bring in the German equivalents of these players but I suggest he will play much safer and throw money at it, take less risk and buy higher rated players from higher levels.

IMO we have a "Wilder S2 Model' unique. for a club of our size at this level. And yes he plays up the "Bladey' thing and that is obvious but may depend on your definition of the term.

Wilder is always keen to broadcast the dedication the club has in the boatdroom and in fans' hearts. He talks about the status and history of the club and the potential a unified United can have. He talks about his culture and life as a Blade. He says he is in his 'dream job' cos he's a Blade. He has restored that pride and he has unified the club.

In a day when money is thrown at clubs and players in particular, this recipe can go a long way. And I reckon it's 'Bladey' through and through.

Don't you feel that Pinchy? Maybe your own 'Bladey' definition is narrower.

Ask Wednesdayites whether they think we have a 'Bladey' thing going on!!

P.S. "Made in Sheffield" that tackle" - that's 'Bladey'!!

Sentimental pap.

I'm a reactionist. If CW says no budget, only one in etc I believe him and have a pop at the board. If the reports are we missed out for the sake of £50k I believe it and accuse the board of not being ambitious enough. My heart races on transfer news. When we lose I'm sad :( when we win I'm happy :). I am ambitious for my club but don't think we are capable of getting back to th Pl in my lifetime , but we might . Unlike many I don't believe I know better than others and spend time arguing I'm reyt. I don't use social media, it's the Devils tool, but, I have a Facebook account just so I can watch iFollow for nowt. I don't get the diamond formation but understand the offside rule.

I am a Blade

I agree, one of the most erudite explanations of what this club is all about. We never have and, I hope never will be a Club that wants or panders to the billy big bollocks type of player. We’re forged in Sheffield steel, play the “old fashioned” way, no histrionics, divers or neck warmers on our pitch please. Make fair, hard tackles, play at maximum intensity in a pressure cooker of a ground and that’s what makes me love SUFC and everything about it - including the eternal pessimism of most of the fans. Will that take us and keep us in the PL? I don’t know and tbh don’t care, we’re true to our core beliefs and that’s what matters most not selling our souls for fifteen minutes of glory.
Oh, and playing the way we do isn’t easy in the modern game, tactically or from a PR point of view - it takes balls to tread a different path so bless you CW, you’re a bloody genius.
UTB

Don't forget loans, freebies and undisclosed don't cost owt. We want fees and we want them now.

Fucking McCabe and Prince yada yada mumble groan
Or because a £700,000 fee and 3 players on “£8,000” a week until the end of the season would still leave you nice change from £2,000,000 ?
